Life's Moments

Hi blog friends, we have two more winners in the comment game again.  For the post made on Jan. 4th, I have randomly selected number 37 and that was the comment left by Maggie!!  For yesterday's post, Jan.5th, I have randomly selected number 56 and that corresponds to Linda Adams!!!  Okay guys, you know the drill, email me to claim your prize!
For today's post, how about this for a really quick, simple card when you don't have too much time to fuss about.  I have let the decorative papers do all the work really.  I added a piece of my favourite lace from my craft stash and a flower cut from the spiral blossoms two die  to frilly it up a bit since the paper was so dark.  I also found this ribbon in my stash and thought it matched quite well.  Notice, there isn't actually a bow, just a know below the flower.  You say, what no bow! Well that is because I didn't think it needed it and that was all the ribbon I had!  Sometimes we just have to make do, don't we? LOL  I love the sentiment though and just thought the postage stamp dies worked well with these papers.  I didn't pierce the edge but I did double mat it to give it a bit of character.  Finally, I added three black glints to the corner for interest.  These, by the way, are recycled glass pieces from Eco-Green Products and they are really nice for use in those areas that just need a little something, you know what I mean!  I hope this one appeals to some of you out there in blog land!  All for now, Sue x

I have this flower die but can't get on with it. It always seems to be too tall. Is it the same for you? I suppose the only way to send a card or project with it on is in a card box.

will have to get in more practice thats all there is to it. Go away cleaning and HELLO craft day. Might even be able to rope in my daughter for a 'stitch and bitch' as we call our crafting sessions.
Thanks Sue and keep 'un coming.

Another great card Sue I just love the flower. x

I also have the flower die and love it to pieces, I have a lot of home made papers (not by me!) in my stash and love the colours but have not been able to use them much before but they work beautifully with the flower die. I also have loads of tiny bits of ribbon which I am loathe to throw away as so pretty - I will be doing knots all over the place now! Loving the work Sue as always x

What a classy card Sue and I love the lace you have used, since following your blog I have been to my local haberdashery a lot LOL. I NEED to get the postage stamp die set because it sets the sentiment off nicely. The colours are fabulous and your right it didn't need a bow ;-)

Love the colours Sue and the stripy paper for the flower, gives it more dimension somehow. I often do knots in preference to bows, probably cos my bows are not so good

Sue, I always love your choice of background papers. This card is great - love the way you have used the ribbon. I find it difficult to get the same professional effect you always get when tying a bow. This way will be more achievable for me, and an excuse to buy the flower die!

Good morning Sue and all
Boy what a card. It reminds me so much of my dad and London (again). Dad loved fabric with small prints like this for ties and in jacket linings and there used to be a lovely barber shop in London decorated with these colours. So manly, very sophisticated and so London chic. Dad would have adored this card (but no flower for him).
The glints are lovely, I haven't seen them in black before. I've only seen the clear ones Julia Andrus (Eco-green) brought to C&C. I'll add these to my wish list as I love glass (I'm after German glass glitter in black). Oooh my list is growing & I'm trying to be good ready for your next show; I'm certain you'll tempt me again! lol..
Well thats enough reminiscing for today.
Thinking of you, Linda

Hi Sue
11 elements to your card (12 if u count the glue) and so effective. You are making me understand papers. I have been frightened to use them up to now. Seems as long in the same colour range it works. Are there any other rules on choosing paper to match? I have seen people use dots and stripes together but never looks right for me. Or am i too mean to use my beautiful paper stash lol.
And only used 3 dies this card. Less is more. Could make a good game how many elements. Well done Sue. Cant wait for February

Hi Sue
I am intrigued the way the flower looks so different to the striped background paper, very interesting, and I take note how often you are using the stamp shaped spellbinder. This is another one on my list, I saw it on TV and thought no not my cup of tea but you have changed my mind.

Quite a moody card but that's fine as there are as many styles as there are types of people. A definite 'stand out from the crowd' from the pastel, pale colours I've been seeing around craft stands lately.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations to the winner. We are being spoilt with all these prizes.
Sue, I think this is my new favourite card ever. It has a unisex look, despite the flower, which is very appealing. I can't quite believe that these backing papers go together, especially with the black lace, but it works.
Please, please bring the glints (as many colour options as possible) to create & craft. I have been to the creative expressions website and was so impressed by the options. Black is my must have colour having seen it's use in your designs and clear would me amazing for seeing through to the design below.
With love & light Theresa. H

That is gorgeous paper Sue - and those 'bows' are my favs - I do them all the time and I think they look really sweet - nice card - just bought spiral blossoms 2 and so if you don't mind I think I'll kind of copy this one. I really want to start to use more beads and stones on my cards cos I have tons and they are so interesting - thinking of taking up chinese knotting or something like that to make interesting braid for my cards - feel the need for new things now it's new year!!
lots of love lilygee and congrats to the winners.
