You Are So Special

Good Sunday morning all!  This card was such a struggle to photograph due to the glossy card, but it really is striking in person.  This is the card that Andy Love was quite taken with from last weekends shows.  It is a great card for the guys with the bold colours.  I started with the Scandinavian background and I cut it out of black gloss card.  I don't very often use gloss card, but I am loving the combo of the tone on tone with the gloss and the matte!  I added mounting foam to the back (centre and edge) and matted it with black matte card.  I did a bit of matting around it with peach card to soften the black.  Next I cut the Copenhagen die in white card for my focal element.  I added it to the centre of the card with mounting foam, then topped it with a peach die cut using the inside of the Stockholm set.  The sentiment was stamped in black and cut out with the smaller dies in the Copenhagen die set and mounted on to a slightly larger black mat in the centre to complete the focal element.  I added a black paper pierced mat, then a thin white mat and a final black mat.  If you want to lighten up the card a bit, use white card to mat and layer it, that will do the trick.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  9" in size.

Today is the first day of our trade show and tonight is the night they announce the winners of the British Craft Awards too so a very busy day!!  Fingers crossed!

I still have two unclaimed winning dies from the drawing.  Angela Wade and Kathy Johnson still need to email me to confirm their addresses please!

Now for the winners of the weekly comment game.  This week's winners are:

Desiree P!!!
ScottyDog!!!
Gillian Hughes!!!

For the extra qualitying post of Feb. 9th, the winners are:
Evelene!!!
Craftetter!!!
Sue Milham!!!

From the extra qualifying post of Feb. 11th, the winners are|:

Good Morning Sue & Friends
Wow what a 'striking' card! It has the feel of a top of the range car with leather seats! A strange analogy I know but that's what I puts me in mind of! As Andy Love quite rightly said 'any guy would love this card'
It's a fine example of how versatile the Scandinavian dies really are! Thank you Sue for another week of top class inspiration! Hugs to you xxxxxx

What a wonderful 'guy' card today's gift is. I know we all struggle with these sp huge thanks are on their way to you. Monochrome too and what a difference from yesterday!

I'm still in recovery mode after my marathon yesterday. Half a dozen small children from 1 - 4 on the run all the time and the noise they make - I thought I'd gone deaf when I got home - the silence was unreal! lol. I have to say they are delightful at these ages and remind us what it was like with our own children and then grandchildren and now for us great grandchildren. We had a lovely party and the little lady of the day thoroughly enjoyed her bday tea.

Congratulations to all the very lucky winners.

Good morning Sue and Wilsonette friends,
WOW this is so striking in the black gloss card that it does not surprise me that Andy Love likes it, his home is filled with black furniture and i think Loen said touches of red but i could be wrong. I have my big cousins 50th this year and this would suit him down to a T. Rory says to him about his aftershave, aye well he can keep wishing at £90 a small bottle, he has 2 chances of his mammy here getting him that 1) a donkeys chance and 2) nneeiiiggghhh(neigh) chance.
I wish you every success tonight Sue as you truly deserve to pick up these awards, you are the most inventive crafter and designer of the age that is out there at the moment and deserve to be recognised as such not only by us your faithful following but by the hierarchy of the crafting world.
What a gorgeous day it is at the Ochil hills today and not too cold.
Janet, now you know the old saying of silence is golden, well you just found it when you came back home from the excitement that i child's party brings but oh it is so nice to be able to roll back the years and remember back to simpler times. I hope that the guest of honour Lily Mae had a lovely time at her party.
Janice K, remember to put on some black pearls on the card for your hubby as it will be your Pearl anniversary and well done for surviving all those years together.
Anne, try putting some glaze across a piece of brown card and see if that will get you the glossy card that you are looking for? Worth a try flower, even if only on a small piece to trial it out.
Cheryl, sorry that you are low with this bug and with your system not being back to full strength it will really have taken the feet from you. You cuddle up in your pj's and a fluffy blanket on the settee and keep warm and you know you might just have to watch some crafting to keep your spirits up, eh?
Well i have found a mountain of knits that i have knitted and not sewn up so i am away to do just that and tackle some of it(i hate sewing up knitting). I will wish all the winners congratulations for winning this week and sending hugs of all kinds to all my angels that need them,
love and crafty hugs

I'm a little earlier and much brighter this morning! So thankful for that!
I really like this card and I thought it looked great on TV. I'm not sure if I'd make it as maybe black takes a bit of getting used to but for the right man - great. I love the contrast of the blacks and the peach. Very classy!
Wishing you all the very best for tonight Sue, if you don't win there's been a mistake in my book! As has already been said - you are our No 1 .
Saba - thank you I feel a lot more human today! I will manage some lunch too.
I think I've missed lots so I'm sorry.
Congratulations to today's winners. Enjoy your gifts.
Cheryl - sorry you've caught a nasty cold . You could have done without that! Hope you feel much better very soon! Sending hugs!
Love to all,
Myra xx

Hello Sue and all

Such a striking card. Often we see black card used for a little drama, it is unusual to see it reversed and the peach used for such an effect, lovely idea. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats to all the winners.

I'm confused, if tonight is the night they announce the winners of the Craft Awards (Good Luck to yourself and Julia) why have C&C been crowing all week?

Best wishes
