Thinking Of You

Good Sunday morning all!  I just love this Floral Meadow striplet and did you know that the flowers in it are the same size as one of the flowers in the Camellia die set?  Coincidence?  I think not!  I wanted to be able to use the flowers on top of the striplet to embellish it.  I picked some taupe card and two shades of plum card to go with it.  I cut out a bunch of flowers out of the two plum shades and a few out of milk coloured card as well.  I "sugared" the milk flowers with Iced Snow for a bit of bling .  I used the Floral Meadow striplet and cut out just the decorative insert three times on a piece of taupe card, leaving a small border between them.  I wanted the look of panels.  I randomly glued the flowers over the flowers in the striplet and raised the petals for dimension.  I glued a cream flatback pearl into each of the centres.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension and placed it over a slightly darker shade of taupe card.  I tied a bow out of chalk seam binding and added a flower to the centre.  Using vellum, I stamped my sentiment (Justrite) with a clear perfect medium pad and heat embossed it with Ivory embossing powder.  I cut the vellum into a strip and tucked the end under my bow.  I used a small amount of Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue to secure it into place.  I finished the card with two shades of plum card for mats and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x 8 1/4" in size.

Morning Sue, Pam and all Wilsonettes, another beautiful card today Sue and no I didn't realise about the flowers...silly me I should have had more confidence in you Sue as all your dies seem interchangeable and connected.

Hi Sue. Sunday smiles to you and all that enter today. Congrats to all comment winners, enjoy your gifts.
This is such a pretty striplet, and Im sure that those friends that have this will back me up when I say its even prettier in 'real life' the tiny camelia flowers are so delicate and deep when embossed. I recently made a card with just one striplet cut and embossed to the left, using the smaller flower over the top, making a CAS sympathy card for my market basket and it makes such a pretty clean crisp card, but I now need to do something similar to your beautiful gift. Striplet dies are so very useful.
Its bitterly cold this morning and im already starting to go stir crazy. Im so sick of this cold weather now. Really wish Id been born in a warmer climate !!
Boy oh boy Sue are you going to feel the cold when you return (dont forget to put a thick warm jumper in your hand luggage) !!

To all our friends that have woken feeling a little under the weather as I have, I hope as the day goes on you feel a little better. To our missing Wilsonette sister's please hurry home, we miss your funny stories about your furry critters ! To anyone celebrating today, have a good day. To all I send love and hugs this horrible cold day.
The sentiment is sent to you all today.

Hello Sue,

Got this pretty striplet a couple of weeks ago and I'm having so much fun with it - it is even prettier IRL...I just cut extra striplets and snip out the flowers when I want that extra dimension but how handy that one of the Camellia dies is just the right size - would certainly be more thrifty and quicker to do so thanks for today's card....love the colour scheme, makes the flowers really pop...

Congrats to all the comment game winners

Hi Sue,
Truly beautiful. I love this striplet die ( in fact all of them!) and have made a similar card to this but with just panels and I have to say, I was really pleased with it. However, being the idiot that I am, I never realised that the camelia little flowers were the same size! I inked them and got into a right mess! Now I know the camelia dies will be used - so much easier! Looking forward to seeing the new collection. Congratulations to the winners, enjoy your prizes.
Well I've come downstairs to a disaster zone this morning and the cat is well and truly out of favour! The little tinker got into my knitting bag and has had fun all night! I'm in the middle of knitting an Arran jumper and using the really massive 400g balls of wool. The ball is nearly as big as the cat! Somehow, she has managed to get it around every set of tables , the tv table, the standard lights etc! Shame we didn't have burglars as they would have been caught red handed! The saving grace was that the stitches stayed on the needles. As much as I love her, if she had pulled them off, I think I might have killed her! She's hiding upstairs at the moment, knowing that mam is not very pleased with her!!needless to say she will be forgiven the minute she reappears.
Sending, love and hugs to everyone on this cold and miserable morning. Love Alison xxxx

Hi Sue,

I cannot wait to see you on our screens next weekend and am so looking forward to seeing your new collection showcased. Mind you, major decisions now, I don't have the Striplet you have used today and after seeing this card I think I need it, but with your new collection coming there are bound to be new ones I "need" as well.!!,!
Many congratulations to all the lucky winners today, especially Patwyn, you may be relatively new to the blog, but you post everyday irrespective of whether there is a prize to be won or not, and in my book that's what counts.

Hi Sue

Utterly beautiful. I had noticed the camellia dies were sort of the same shape but hadn't realised they matched up. I suppose I, like a lot of others, are used to having to mix and match to achieve such affects that the idea didn't register with me. It's a die that before today I liked and would like to own, now the striplet is a need as even without the camellia it's just so pretty. It's taken me 2 or 3 views of cards made with it to see that. Better late than never!

Congratulations to the winners, enjoy your prize xxx

Oh Alison, I had to laugh at your naughty little cat! I have a dog that, given half a chance, would do exactly the same! While knitting or crocheting I have to leave the yarn in a bag with just the string of yarn going up to my work, even if I pull the yarn from inside the ball he's there prodding the ball with his nose to try to make it fall. He loves any sort of ball or toy and anything wooly or fluffy. I will get around to fashioning a covered yarn cage one of these days but I would be depriving myself the sight of a pretty big dog pouncing on an escaped ball of yarn, landing in that front end down, bum in the air play position, tail moving from side to side in that snake like fashion that cats' tails do!

Anyway, I must off. Mr W just brought my ironing board in from the shed so I need to inspect it and give it a clean. It's an old one that folds down to seated height, study but not (from what I remember) heavy, very easy to stand. Hoping a lick of the right paint on the metal work and a cover to match will give it life for another 30 years.

Enjoy the rest of the day, hugs to you all, extra available free of charge!

Hi Sue. I think that this just has to go to the top of my striplet wish list! I love the way that you've made it the right size to fit one of the camellia dies, that way you can change the colour of the flowers to match the mood of the card. Has anyone told you lately just what a genius you are? As always, thanks so much for sharing with us. x

Evening Sue sorry i havn't commented for a few days but i have had some bug doing the rounds, i spent the best part of two days and nights camped out in the bathroom, i'm fine now but hubby is poorly with the same bug, caught of me no doubt.
Anyway the last two days cards were lovely but i adore todays as i have this striplet and have made loads of cards with it, its so useful as i can now see another way to use it, thank you so much Sue and am looking forward to the weekend to see your show on C & C.
All for now, hugs to all. Johanna

Good Evening Sue
I was lucky enough to get is die from Pat (Witney) for Christmas, I recently made a card identical to this to post on my blog, it did it in aqua/pink, it's such a pretty die and when you use the Camellia to finish it off it's stunning!
Love your colour way too Sue!
Have you got an exciting week ahead for us?......
Cameeli, missing your posts, hope all is ok, xxx
Wheely I have tried (out of guilt) to do the ironing sitting down, but it just didn't work for me, it's like you can't get enough pressure on the iron, in my case it made my back worse! So I just had to give in and let paul do it! I hope you have more success xxxx
Congratulations to the lucky winners today,
I know at least one of you will be dancing for joy, albeit carefully!
Looking forward to the coming excitement......
