Thanks

Hi crafters!  Happy Valentine's Day too!  I didn't have a Valentines card handy to show but today's card was a special request from a blog friend.  This one didn't get much air time last week so she wanted a close up of it.  I started with a piece of custard card and embossed it with the Rambling Blossoms embossing folder.  I then cut eight of the New York borders in coconut white card.  I also cut eight of the New York corners in coconut card.  Along the edge of my custard embossed card, I glued the borders around and then glued the corners on top.  They match up so I nipped the borders to the matching point first too before gluing them down.  Then I did the inner square of the borders and corners, but I raised them slightly by adding a thin strip of mounting foam along the border edge.  Next I stamped the Justrite Sunflowers in black Archival ink on coconut white card.  I cut them out using the decorative die and cutting edge from the Oslo set. I cut a white backing piece using just the cutting edge and glued them together.   The top of the sunflower was cut off  when I did this so I stamped it separately, cut it out and coloured it and placed it over the die at the end of the stem, raising it with foam.  I coloured the rest of the flowers with Distress markers and sponged a soft Tumbled glass ink into the background.  I raised another one of the lower flowers by stamping and cutting it out as well.  The centres of the flowers were coloured then I added clear micro beads over them for texture.  They look like they are different coloured beads, but they are just clear and magnifying the detail from the stamp and the colours of the ink I used.  I stamped a sentiment and cut it out with the tag from the Dainty Rectangle frame, tied a messy bow out of white seam binding and tucked the end of the tag under the pearl button that I used in the centre of the bow.  I finished the card with a double white mat, no piercing this time but I did add an edge of sticky tape on the inner mat and sprinkled Iced Snow on it.  It is subtle but you can see it coming through the outer border layer.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.

Don't forget to scroll down to the post below to see the list of winners for the die giveaway too.  There are still quite a few that have not been claimed yet!!

The winner of this week's Wednesday Card Giveaway is:

Theresa Harding (TOB)!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card!  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue from a very damp and misty morning here in Sheffield.
I'm not sure about today's gift. I love the colours and sunflowers are always a hit with me as they remind me that Summer will arrive in the not too distant future. It's a little too busy for me and I just don't know where to look first. Sorry Sue. It's not often that one of your pieces of art doesn't lift me.

TOB - congratulations on winning this week's give away. I can just hear the squeals of excitement from here so hope your SW space is all ready.
Mrs B - congratulations on your new arrival. You can now relax a little.

It's going to be a very busy day and I know I'm going to be flat on my back at the end of it but never mind. Shopping to be done this morning and then off to my Grand Daughter for a bday party for my little Great Grand Daughter - Lily-Mae. Cannot believe just how quickly this last year has gone.

To all in pain or suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone take care and stay safe.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue,
Wow what stunning card. I love the fact that the corners match up so you can use them over the borders in the way you have. I have always struggled trying to get really neat border corners when using them as an edge I either have a gap where I've trimmed too much off or a slight over lap that doesn't lie flat - these are the perfect solution. I also wonder why it has never crossed my mind before to cut out separate elements of a stamped image that doesn't quite fit a die and simply stick them back on again over the top. See, this is why we all love your blog Sue. Thank you for sharing.

Good morning Sue,
What a fabulous creation, can't call it a card, it's more of a masterpiece. I love custard in any shape or form, warm on Apple pie, cold in trifle, baked in a tart and now on a Sue Wilson special. I could eat it.
Your stamping and colouring is lovely and how you have added the extra two flower heads, especially the top one, to give continuity of the design up and over the die cut is genius. I thought you had used coloured beads as well until I read the description again. Please Thank your Blog friend for requesting this one, and thank you for showing it.

Mrs.B, the wait is finally over, many congratulations on the safe arrival of Christopher James.

Sam, so sorry things didn't go to plan yesterday, special loving hugs on their way to you.

Sam Smithard is right, I should leave a comment more often. Thanks Sue for all the little ideas I get from following your blog. X♡♥♡ Jean T, a visitor from Oldham

Pretty card today Sue, it's the borders that make it for me. You could substitute any topper and sentiment to make it very versatile.

Read through the list of winners (congrats to them) but sadly I wasn't listed, though I was pleased that one of them is coming to Ireland.

Hi Sue

Such a pretty card, i see that you are on create and craft next weekend, what a joy, but i wish you were not on after 5pm as i cannot watch those shows so annoying, i know it's not your fault but could you have a word, i am sure i am not the only one missing out.

Best Wishes

Good afternoon Sue and all the Wilsonettes,
Oh Sue this card is so truly beautiful and in just the most beautiful of colour schemes. This is one that i just need to do for no other reason than to put up on my wall. I love this corner and borders set out of all the ones that you have done this is my very favourite and the one that i reach for time and again. Thank you sue for this stunning card and for the happiness that you have brought to an awful lot of people yesterday including some of my angels who i am most happy for as they are the kindest bunch i have every had the good fortune to meet. As for Wednesdays card i am so pleased that it is going to Teresa as she has been fairly going through the mill recently with hospitals and doctors sheer incompetence so maybe this will lift her spirits just that tad and bring a rainbow back into her world.
Welcome little Christopher James, i hope that Friday the 13th all brings you good fortune. Mrs B. I bet you are still up amongst the celestial stars today after your handsome little bundle arriving although he took his time about it. I wonder if he is always going to be this laid back? I hope that mum is recovering well from his birth and is beeming with pride. Sending you hugs Mrs B and for baby Christopher.
Welcome to little baby Tess as well, i hope that your mummy and granny have recovered from your arrival as well.
Lily-Mae happy birthday to a special little baby girl on her first birthday. I hope that great granny Janet has a wonderful time at your birthday party but doesn't eat all of your cake because her and papa Ecco can't get to their normal little fancy cake shop.
JULIE B you can watch Sue's shows on the internet through the create and craft site. I know it's not the same as on your big telly but you would still be able to see them live.
Dear Sam, i am so sorry that you didn't get good news at the hospital but we are here through the good and bad times. we always have an ear willing to just listen but always a hug just because we care. We are all here for you if you should ever need us, you only have to let us in. Sending you big hugs flower from the Ochil hills.
Well that is me away to get on as i seem to have a million and one things that need done. Sending hugs of every kind to all my Wilsonette Angels both on blog and not at the moment with wee thoughts and prayers being sent for those who need them.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue

A pretty card, the NY dies do give it the look of lace, I love sunflowers but yellow is not a colour I'm confident crafting with (a joke really as my bedroom is shades of golden yellow, warm orange and red. Sure I'm not the only one who has preferred colours to craft with though I try to make cards in a particular colour if I know the recipient will appreciate it.

Belated congratulations to the die launch giveaway winners, enjoy!

Don't think anyone deserves the weekly giveaway card more than Theresa, I hope it's given yoh a little lift and I hope you're not too sore or uncomfortable today, very gentle hugs xxx

Sam, I'm so sorry you didn't get the news you wanted from the hospital. You know where to come in you need a good moan, we are here to listen, sympathy hugs xxx

Congratulations Mrs B on becoming a grandmother to little Christopher baby hugs xxx

Apologies if there are any mistakes in this post. I can hardly keep my eyes open. Got 2 striplets (one new and one Original one) and the new background with the lattice. Craft side of show has shrunk a lot and it was like shopping at my local craft shop, having a ljst of stuff you want but just getting bits of it. Got a few distress markers to try,Brought just enough colours to colour a flower and a few other bits, inks, a little fanric and some beads for my st k pins. Car journey hasrattled my spine quite badly so I'm Very vedy well medicated and struggling to see the screen. Neex a good night's rest of to bed for a lay down aftwr I've posted.

Have a nice weekend, hugs to everyone, extra here if needed,

Pretty Card Sue!

I love the lacey look to this card, it's lovely. I generally find it difficult using yellow card and if I buy packs of multicoloured card, yellow is usually a colour I have left, but the inspiration from this card is fab and given me such wonderful ideas, "Thank you Sue."

Happy Crafting!!! :) X X
