Thanks For Being My Friend

Hi crafters!  Another quick sample from the Weekender shows.  This card features the Beaded Fanfare Pinpoint embossing folders.  I just love the incredible texture that you get from these folders, they are just so tactile!  I used a piece of taupe card and ran it through to emboss it, then cut it into two pieces to use at the top and bottom of my card.  I used scissors to follow the pattern along and cut a scalloped edge on one side of both halves.  Next I used Enchanted Gold gilding wax and rubbed it lightly over the embossing.  You can see it  just catching the light in some of the close up pics below.  I added mounting foam to both of the pieces and attached them to a piece of milk coloured card.  I stamped my sentiment (from the Amazing Sentiment set by Cr. Exp.) on milk card and heat embossed it in gold detail embossing powder.  I cut it out with the oval from the centre of the Scandinavian background die and used Antique Linen ink on it before removing it from the die.  I cut a Scandinavian tag in soft vintage gold card and backed my sentiment with it and attached it to the card to the right side of the channel created by the scalloped edged background.  I cut several of the Trailing Ivy in vintage gold card and glued them into place across the channel as well.  I finished the card with  a milk card mat with a paper pierced edge, a thin gold mat and a wider milk mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 3/4" in size.

I will be doing the drawings for the winners of the latest die releases and posting it later on today (hopefully by around 3 to 4pm), just have to take care of a few things first!  Please don't forget to check back to see if your name is on the list of winners!  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue, Pam and all Wilsonettes, it is Friday the 13th today but there is nothing unlucky about your creation today, I am so excited about the new embossing folders, mine are due to arrive today and I will certainly be having a play, I am so loving the way you have used this one, I have some large scalloped edge borders and will see if they match the design as I am not very good with cutting out, also love the touch of gilding wax to enhance the design such a great idea. But then again Sue you are full of great ideas. I hope to see you at Ally Pally again this year, I am ordering my tickets today.

Good luck to all the winners of the blog compo for each of the new dies.

Have a great Friday everyone, stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

GM Sue. I love this folder. Its on my want list. The craft show yday was good. Several stands had your dies in pole position and they were selling like hot cakes I am pleased to report. Some did come home with me and I can wait to have a play especially with the weaving dies, am hoping you will be demoing with those next weekend so I use them correctly! Oophs typo above! Should be can't wait to have a play obviously. Happy Friday Wilsonettes

Morning Sue. Good luck dear Wilsonettes. Stubby little finger's crossed for you.
I thought how simple but classie this card was last weekend. P in Wales is right, it does look like those beautiful swag theatre curtains. And how it shimmers with the guilding wax. I have an old recipie wax that just refuses to play even when my heat tool had heated it up, must get a replacement soon !
After a horrible day with a horrible tummy, then drinking a big jug of vile muck to enhance MRI pictures Ive woken feeling slightly more human ! Didnt realise how 'off colour' I felt until just now lol, slept from 7pm - 10pm then crawled into bed feeling dreadful. Haho another day begins, so I will send my love and hugs to you Sue and to all my friends that visit today.
Love you.
Lancashire Steph xx

Hi Sue, such gorgeousness, love the trailing ivy die, will just have to wing its way to my house. Thanks for sharing your creations. Lol lynne m x x x

Well hubby home again thank goodness ( doesn't do well around needles!!!)- 2 fractured ribs and a chest infection. On 5 different meds to help with pain so up early to start the pain meds round. His little princesses won't leave his side unless its for me to feed them or let them down the garden. It really feels like mum has been relegated to servant role as they only want hubby to smooth & cuddle them. They are definitely milking the situation as much as possible. I think they forget that once hubby is fit and back to work they will only have me at home with them.

Take care everyone, to all in pain or need sending oodles of hugs.

Good morning Sue,
Such an elegant card. The beaded fanfare embossing folder is gorgeous and the gold gilding wax on the embossed card gives it a lovely shimmer, not that the beaded fanfare needs any enhancement, it is beautiful in its own right. The Scandinavian tag cut out in that lovely soft vintage gold card gives it the look of a metal embellishment and the trailing ivy adds a lovely finishing touch to this gorgeous card.

Steph, glad today is a better day for you.

morning Sue
I have to say that this folder is at the top of my list for my next purchase - I really fell for it on your shows last week and as you probably know by now I love Art Deco and what a way to remind us of that era. You showcase it here beautifully and reminds us that Efolders can also be the main aspect of our cards. I have your first Pin Point folders and they are the ones that I go to on a very regular basis. I have some gilding wax which I bought ages ago and so I hope that it hasn't gone off now you have wet my appitite. I hope you have managed to get a little R&R in this week Sue.

Steph - I hope your MRI went OK and that you're not too exhausted this morning. Have just read your post and pleased you're OK this morning.
TXCowgirl - I prefer to use photo glue as it gives me (in Sue's words) a little more wriggle room before it sets. I have used double sided tape in the past but it really is your personal choice.
Norah - Unfortunately the things I was taught in school eg Cookery and Needlework just do not exist any more more's the pity. Hope your evening class takes off as I know they could not have a better teacher. It just goes through me when I see how things are just thrown away because someone cannot sew a button on. It doesn't help when certain chain stores use slave labour across the world and sells cheap. Sorry rant over.
Sam - good luck for today.

Well it's Friday and as I'm here in Sheffield no market for today and therefore no pastries either. Did my housework yesterday after my hairdresser had been so I think it's a crafting day and as I've only a couple of bday cards left to do for March I can have a little play.

To all in pain or suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Very very Pretty card for today Sue, the EF is gorgeous and on my next to buy list.

Saba, Our family reunions came about in 1997 when our American cousins decided to celebrate their family connections as the only other time they all met up was for hatches, dispatches and matches. So hence was born the idea of a 5 year family reunion. The first one in Birmingham was because our ancestors originated from Blacksmith stock in the Midlands area. My great great grandfather had two brothers who emigrated to America in the 1800's, met their wives, married and had families.
My paternal grandfather George and nanny Mabel emigrated to Australia in 1957 (with the advantage of the, at the time, £10 assisted passage payment) taking with them their youngest son (there was a big age difference between my dad and his youngest brother). My aunt Brenda, their daughter and her family, followed a couple of years later.
My dad was in the army so we didn't get to go, but my sister and I did go to live with Nan and Granddad for almost 3 years when my father was posted abroad to Nigeria. The reason being that we were too young for boarding school in England and there were no schools for the over 10 year olds in Nigeria in the early 1960's unless you went private. My sister being already 10 and I was 9, so to save splitting us sisters up, we went to Australia.
We also have a family branch in Germany. My Uncle Rodney (dad's brother) met and married a young German lady when he was stationed there. They have two sons. Quite a bit of history our family has.

As always, gentle healing hugs to all those who need one.

Good morning Sue and fellow wilsonettes,
Love the white and that soft gold Sue combo as it just works a treat together. I was thinking that you could design a die to match the bottom of this cracking embossing for us mere mortals that can't cut into this shape that easily. I love the ivy but missing your bows or flowers at the top of it which you normally finish with. Thank you Sue for a beautiful card and i can see that this folder is rapidly becoming one of your all time favourites.
I got my shopping from my normal on line Supermarket but when i got to the strawberries that i had ordered they had wednesday's date on them, now i know that we like strawberries a lot but come on there was no way i could eat 750grams all in one day. Anyway i thought i am taking these back as i could just imagine them the next day and sure enough yesterday i had little furry jackets on a lot of them. Kirsten forgot to lift them so i went in last night with them. Not one pack of strawberries to be had in the whole store. The lovely lassie on customer service desk was really good though saying that was there nothing that i needed in the fruit and veg aisle as she was swapping it and giving me a £2 voucher as way of an apology. I ended up getting mum and dad two big bouquets of flowers with some red roses in it for them which she gave me the money of the flowers and the gift card towards payment. I can hear mum the now shouting as she always thought flowers were a rip off at this time of the year and how a bunch of daffs would do the same job. I don't think i will be ordering fruit and veg again online though as i think i got the oldest lot in the warehouse delivered.
Steph flower i do hope that you are feeling better today from yesterdays ordeal or nightmare depending on your point of view. And if you slept for those 3 hours and them climbed into bed and slept through you badly needed the rest. I know that you have a lot to get done for the market but please try to take it a bit easier, please.
Oh Lynne i am sorry that your hubby is in such a bad state but i bet he is glad to be home and his little princesses are just guarding him incase someone tries to hurt their daddy. Isn't it amazing how they can sense when someone is not well and there is something wrong. So no little swipes or digs at their daddy while they are on patrol(lol). Hope you are feeling a bit better even wearing your waitress get up to serve his lordship hand and foot while he recovers.
Jean, i am over the moon on the birth of your beautiful baby granddaughter. I hope that both mummy and baby are well and soon home although if it is anything like Forth Valley Royal they fling them out in under 6 hours if it is a first and 3 with a second or more. My friends daughter got flung out at 23.45 with her first baby. Wishing your precious family love and sending hugs to you all.
Sam remember tell him you don't want panorama pictures, portrait will do just fine. Hugs flower.
Well this mist is down at my beloved Ochils today and i think it will be a day for being in the house somehow after i have been up to talk to mum, dad and Jim so i will see you all tomorrow,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue

Such an elegant card, I love all the new release embossing folders and trailing ivy is a favourite, so pretty and ripe for snipping! I nearly have my wish list written. This show I'm going to tomorrow is so close to some of the major ones it doesn't attract many major retailers so fingers crossed they'll have any of your dues or EFs. If not I'll be ordering online soon as I get home! I love the gold and white, the gilding wax is so subtle.

I won't get to Ally Pally in April because of a family celebration but there's a very good chance I will get there September or to the ExCel at the end of the year as long as logistics to get to station can be sorted. My mum is interested in coming, maybe I'll convert her too!

RE GILDING WAX if your wax has gone hard get some gilding wax solution, its by Creative Expressions for their gilding wax- I can't remember if it uses the cosmic shimmer branding. You drop a little of the solution- Which does smell strongly of alcohol- onto the wax, do up the lid and leave it overnight, its a solvent that softens the wax and you can do some quite cool effects mixing colours etc too. Solvents will soften wax and when you open it again it's usable. Sure there are better descriptions elsewhere online and its not expensive, a little goes a long long way so for roughly the cost of a new wax you save your old ones. Very good product.

Jean, congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter xxx
Steph, hope you feel better soon, I've had the same done and it's unpleasant to say the least. Hot water bottle for tummy if it feels sore works wonders xxx
Sam, hope hospital went ok xxx
Theresa (TOB) Hope you aren't in too much discomfort xxx
Lynne M and divas, Billy very impressed with level of dedication to hubby's recovery, hope he gets better quickly x Billy very very clingy when I'm bad, even to extent he pulls Mr W round the evening walk to get back to me, they know...! wags and woofs xxx

Hugs to Wilsonettes everywhere, good luck in the draw later and would love to see lots of familiar names! Special hugs for all those who are poorly, in any, sort of pain, having treatment or are in recovery, extra hugs on tap and big dog woof and wags to all the crafty dogs out there from Billy (asleep on my blanket!) Have a good weekend, if I don't blog over weekend it's because I'll be tired so please don't worry.

Hugs,

T x

Beautiful card, Sue. I don't have any of your embossing folders yet, but really do like this one. Will have to take a look at all of them.

Never have heard of gilding wax before, and not sure if it's a product here in the USA. There seems to be many products you have there which we don't have. Am seeing some very interesting new items from the British hosts on the new Create and Craft TV USA, yet not all are available to us here. Sure wish we'd get a little of Sue and her products. I wrote and asked them, or begged them is a better description, to have her. Maybe someday they will.

Ecco, thank you for your reply, will have to search out photo glue, another one I've not heard of.

Cheryl Brown, you cracked me up, love, love your phrase "hatches, dispatches and matches". So funny, and so appropriate, it took a minute for me to interpret, but what a great description.

Best of wishes for the contest, wish we could all win. Just having Sue to design and share though is a winning situation.
