Time Enough

Hi crafters!   A black and gold card today, which, to me,  is a combination that always has an elegance to it.  I know I am probably in the minority where black on cards is concerned, but I do love it.  Rather than thinking of it as a dark colour, see it as a way to make your colours pop a bit more.  Mica's and gilding flakes look smashing against a black backdrop especially, you shouldn't discount it from your crafting arsenal!  I started this card by using the Tied Together embossing folder to emboss my soft gold card.  I wanted a larger background so I extended the pattern to cover the area, easily done since the pattern repeats.  I used some black satin ribbon and ran a piece vertically around my card and taped the ends to the back.  I tied a double bow and added it at the bottom with sticky glue dots (I should have used one under that lopsided loop!)  I added a black crystal sparkler to the centre and made some pretty stick pins to match.  For the focal element, I stamped the Hydrangea label shape using a clear Perfect Medium pad onto black card.  I heat embossed it with gold detail powder and cut it out with the matching Vintage Labels Seven die by Justrite.  I stamped it a second time, embossed it as well and hand cut just the centre part of the label.  Using some purple and yellow mica powders, I made a paint by adding a small amount of water and painted the flowers.  I added the piece with a bit of foam mounting tape to the centre of the larger label shape and added both pieces to my card with another piece of foam.  I stamped the butterfly from the set twice on soft gold card and gold embossed it.  I cut them both out by hand and added them to the label, leaving the wings free for movement.  Finally, I added small 3mm black pearls to all the intersections on the embossed background and matted the piece with a thin black mat.  A double pierced gold mat was all that was needed to finish this one off nicely. The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.
