One For the Guys

Hello my crafty friends!  I just love this set from JustRite called "Going Places."  I have a bunch of guys cards that I have made with it so I thought I would share one with you today.  I am constantly asked for cards for the men in our lives.  I think this set is perfect and I had quite a bit of fun with the samples.  I know you are used to seeing me with big bows and bling, but I love doing the grungy, vintage styled mens cards as well.  It gives you a chance to play with embellishments you may have stuck away, but don't know what to do with.  Hessian (or burlap,  for my fellow Americans!) is perfect for these sorts of cards (and inexpensive too, so a double treat!)  I used a piece of decorative paper in my stash that had a map print to it, but you could easily use a map instead!  I offset it on a piece ofkraft card background that I roughed the edges.  I cut a piece of hessian and removed some of the pieces going both directions so it's weave was loosened.  I glued it across my background with Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue (great stuff!)  I cut a small piece of cotton hemp ribbon which has a very masculine feel to it and tucked it around the top of the card, allowing it to hang down a few inches.  I cut the tail into a "V" and tied it with natural jute twine.  I stamped my sentiment (I know it's a bit early, but why wait until the last minute!) and cut it out with one of the tag dies from this set and attached it with some black jute twine to  my ribbon.   I glued a tiny metal gear on to the tag.  These are so cute and they are on the show today.  I just love them and they are so useful for those guy cards too!   I stamped the vintage card from the set using a black archival pad and cut it out with the matching Vintage label and banner die.  I used Walnut stain around the edge while it was still in the die.  I stamped the image again and this time cut it out with the smaller die in the set.  I raised this one directly over the original for dimension.  I inked it to the edge of the die cut.  I glued a fancy key from Creative Expressions in the lower corner of the die cut.  I distressed all the edges and added a final black mat to finish my card.  Such an easy and quick card and I would be willing the men in your life would love one like this!  Finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x 7" in size.
I hope that you can tune in today for my shows at noon (Tool Shed) for two hours then again at 5pm for my final hour.  I think you will love this collection from JustRite Stamps, I know I have really enjoyed playing with them!

I haven't forgotten that it's Sunday and time for the comment game winners!  This week's
winners are:
Jean Woodward!!!
Katie-Louise Sweetlove!!!
Shirley T!!!

I have redrawn a name for the orphan cards so that they have a nice home to go to also.  The winner of the cards is:  Julie Bee!!!

Congratulations to all!  Please email me at  americansue1@gmail.com   to confirm your address and claim your prize.    All for now, Sue x

Couldn't sleep as excited about your shows today!!! Great man's card Sue and am so looking forward to seeing what else you have in store today. Well done all the winners. YvonneMayxx

Wow, so different for you, Sue - doesn't come much more masculine than this! Prefer the die on this card rather than yesterday's, lends itself better to the man thing.
Shame Gham didn't claim her orphans - she'll be kicking herself if she ever realises - but Julie Bee will treasure them for sure (loved her comment on the third - so true!!)

What a great card idea for father's day - my dad would love something like this as it looks up-cycled, and he's always making things out of bits of old wood etc! Must finish the decorating before the carpet fitters come tomorrow, so will have to tape your shows and hope anything I want to buy doesn't sell out!

Thanks, Susan

Hi Sue. Good one for the men. I am looking forward to midday, and I hope you enjoy yourself whilst you do your demos at C&C today. Congrats to Julie Bee and also the Comment winners. Take care.

Hi Sue,

I have to agree with 'P' about the die being better on this card, love the stamp, it could be used for so many man cards. The Hessian and hemp are definitely male embellishments.

What a great man's card. I used the last generic male card in my stash today for a forgotten birthday, so will certainly be watching today for ideas. I get a bit stuck when I don't have a particular person in mind for male cards so your ideas will be really helpful. Can't wait to see you back on tv.

Hi Sue
So glad the little orphans have been re-homed! Congratulations to all today's winners.

As for today's card it is really lovely and soooo masculine will have to have a go at a version of this as I have to do several male cards each year and struggle for ideas so thanks a lot.

I am really looking forward to the shows and to see what you have brought us.

Thank you for a great guy card - I really do find it so difficult to find focal points for the male population in my life. You have reminded me that I bought some Tim Holt clock faces and fingers a while back so now I have a home for them.
Will be watching as much of today's show as possible on the laptop as we don't have TV here in Burgundy.

ps have already purchased my allocation from today's show so can watch with leisure.

GM Sue - what an unusual card - I have already bought the jute twine and leaves and the white embossing powder with the perfect medium - what a bargain! Will be watching both shows - study/craft room all neat and reorganised now so the crafting can resume again in earnest.

this card is simply stunning. It is often so difficult to produce ideas for male cards as you can get carried away with making flowers and flourishes and adding ribbons. This is elegant and yet also quite rustic with the jute addition. I have to admit I am currently addicted to aged brass keys and charms. Beautiful is a word that doesnt even really do this card justice. Cheryl
