My Nicest Thoughts

Good Sunday morning all!  Today's card is one of those quirky cards that I could just see in my head so it had to be made!  It is probably the first fully flat card I have made in ages so it may not look like my style to you.  I am trying to incorporate more things that are a bit out of my comfort zone so who knows where that may take me this year!  I started by cutting two of the largest die in the Resplendent Rectangle die set out of camel coloured card.  Next I cut a piece of camel card to fit just inside the two rectangles when they are side by side.  I used the fancy edge from them as a decorative  edge on my card.  Next I cut two of the large corner from Samantha Walker's Botanical Swirls and Accent set out of the camel card.  I cut two more out of the wine coloured card.  It is helpful to use a piece of wax paper between the die and the card when cutting these to help it release easily.  If you will notice, I left the dashed edge on my triangle piece too as I think it is quite pretty.  This edge of the die does not cut away completely so it is your choice to cut it off or leave it on when trimming the triangle.  The next step is to back each of the corners with the opposite coloured card.  Then starting in one corner, alternate them as you put them in to place, overlapping each one as you go.  This leaves you a diamond shaped area in the centre of the card.  I placed one of the dies from the Marvellous Squares in this area, then simply embossed the shape into it.  Remember my card is flat so it was easily done.  While the die was still in place, I lightly inked the area with Antique Linen distress ink.   I stamped my sentiment in the middle of the embossed area using a plum Archival ink pad.   When I do a card that is simple like this one, I can't help but think what it may look like in other colour combos like blush/ grey or teal/white or gold/taupe.  Finished dimensions are 6" x 8" in size.

Time for more Comment Game winners!  This week the names that I drew out are:

Vinnie Styles!!!
CheekyPaws!!!
Crafty Jo!!!

Congratulations to the winners!  please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

I love your "Nicest Thoughts" Sue and the colour combinations on this card are endless. It is stunning. I am enjoying the CHA shows from C & C and have already purchased my World Launch dies, so looking forward to receiving them, and that Seashell Embossing Folder is amazing, cant wait to see what you do with them. I still think we have the cream of Spellbinders with you.

Morning Sue,

As far as I'm concerned, you always think outside the box!! You never fail to surprise me with the ideas you come up with- it seems so obvious now you've done it but I would never have thought of putting 2 of the rectangles together like that for the background- brilliant!

GM Sue - it'a must try! Watched the CHA/C&C shows last night - ordered the adorning squares and shell beauty 3D embossing folder which looks very detailed. Hope you are having a good time - wish they'd show some footage of the show and the Spellbinders stand rather than just the C&C studio.

So suitable for so many occasions. Saw the Spellbinders launch. Great dies.( I know you are going to stun us with your take on them. Can't wait to see your ideas.) What a very lovely card Sue and i love the colour combo.Hope you are enjoying the show and agree with a lot of the above comments-seems c&c are missing a trick with just showing us the studio-it seems a shame not to show us shots of the show and although the demonstrators they have had on seem pleasant they don't have your magic touch.Enjoy your break with your lovely family but please come back to us with more of your stunning ideas, take care,x.
