Want Another Year?

Hello there bloggers!  Today is a real milestone for me and you!  I have been posting every day for the past year and you have been popping in to look every day too!  I made a conscious decision one year ago to post my cards each and every day without fail and I have been able to do that! No "I'm too tired" or "I have too much work to do" excuses!   I have enjoyed it immensely so I want to say a big thank you to all of you that have been with me all the way as well as those of you that have just recently discovered the blog.  One year ago I sat looking at a huge pile of cards that I had made and realised that nobody had really seen them for more than a few seconds on air during shows.  I thought, what a waste!  By allowing me to bring them to you through my blog, I have felt a real sense of purpose for my card making.
I thought that I would do a giveaway today as a sort of anniversary present.  If you leave me a comment today telling me what you have enjoyed most about my blog, I will draw a winner from among the names and give away a set of the Vintage Lace dies that I designed.   I am flying on Sunday to the States and I want to be sure that everyone that comments is in the drawing so I will do the drawing on Monday and then post the winner on Tuesday.  (I will post the comment game winners for the week tomorrow as usual though) How does that sound?

To  recap today's card for you, I started with the background which was milk coloured card embossed using the Dainty Dots A4 size embossibility folder.  I inked the edges with Antique Linen distress ink and matted it on taupe card.  I cut the largest size of Decorative Labels 8 in taupe card as a backdrop for my focal element.  Next I stamped my sentiment on milk card and cut it out using the next size down in the same set.  I went down to the remaining two sizes in the set and cut a frame which I mounted on foam pieces over my sentiment.  Using the Krinkly Kraft paper (twistwrap kraft paper as it is also called), I cut several flowers from the Jewelled Flowers and Flourish set and layered them up and put pearls in the centres.  I cut another bunch of the flowers from milk coloured card and layered them up as well.  I arranged them around my focal element for a real girlie card.  I added some of the swirls from that set as accents.  I pierced the edges of a double milk coloured mat and added some pearls to the corners to finish it off.  I hope you like it!  Don't forget to leave me a comment today to be in for a chance at the anniversary drawing.  What do you say, should we try to make it every day for another year!!!!  All for now, Sue x

I'm sure the general consensus will be "Yes - do it again for the coming year!" - I have loved all the interesting ways you use the dies, ways in which we mere mortals don't visualise without your prompting :) I also appreciate the fact that you manage to post a card *every* day, I sometimes go weeks without blogging myself!

Happy blogaversary Sue, another awesome card and I love the beautiful dies and gorgeous colours and flowers.

I love to visit your blog because your cards inspire me. I have looked at my spellbinder dies with a different view than just cutting out the shapes. The beautiful colour combinations and the card designs are brilliant.

You give clear instructions on how you achieved the results on your cards and I love to visit to see what exciting new hints and tips you give.

Wishing you a safe journey tomorrow and I hope your mum is well.

Hi Sue. Wow what a card !! I think this is one of the most gorgeous cards I have ever seen you make!! You are truly inspirational. Before I discovered your blog I began to get interested in spellbinders dies and I used to visit their website sometimes for ideas but when you started to pop up on c+c using a combination of spellbinders dies, stamps and embellishments I knew instantly what crafty path I wanted to follow!! I have admired all your cards and realise what a truly clever crafter you really are. I am always striving to make better cards than the day before and thanks to you I can now do that and it means the world to me. I have been ill now for several years and got into card making. Discovering you has both kept me going and given me the inspiraion to try new technics!! I have to visit your blog every day. It is my daily salvation. Today's card is lovely beige and white really look nice together.

You ask us what we like most!

Well firstly it is that you blog every day without fail so there is always inspiration at the start of the day if our minds are blank as to what to do.

But I have to say I love and admire the way you give your ideas and expertise so freely to us. The hints and tips are worth their weight in gold to us crafters.

Congratulations and a massive THANK YOU for all you have done and achieved over this last year Sue

Have a great time in the US. Lovely card. What I love most about this blog is the inspiration. You are so right showing a card for a few seconds on TV isn't enough. It's wonderful to see the cards briefly there and then in detail here. Without your blog I wouldn't have acquired half as many spellbinders, but seeing the multitude of different uses for them and how they combine with other dies encourages me and motivates me to make beautiful cards. Please keep writing it :-)

For inspiring us & making us feel special by showing your masterpieces & giving tutorials on how to do things. Have a wonderful break back home & enjoy your special time with your family. The cards you make are wonderful and inspirational, going from elegantly simple to beautifully flamboyant. :-)

My husband bought me a Grand Calibur in September as a Silver Wedding Anniversary present and I already have some of the more basic Spellbinders dies, and am slowly accumulating more of the more decorative ones. Your descriptions of how to make these gorgeous cards is proving invaluable. I hope you are able to continue with the daily blog - it's such a pleasure to the eyes and to read.

Hi Sue, Happy Anniversary! I think the number of comments today is a testament to how much your blog means to so many of us. You constantly surprise and inspire with all your designs and your very special useage of the dies. I think Spellbinders sales have a lot to thank you for. I have been one of your daily visitors since the beginning and although I don't always comment it doesn't mean I haven't visited!
Please continue to post, we would be bereft if you stopped, we need our daily crafting fix from Sue.
Have a great time in the US but please don't stay away too long.

Hi Sue
'Happy Anniversary'
Your card samples are excellent for showing how you can mix and match dies and also just use part of a die. The very clear instructions along with the close up photos are fantastic. Since joining the blog I have viewed my dies in a totally different way. Some dies that I had not used much are now very useful when mixing and matching. I hope you will be able to continue posting a card every day. It can be very frustrating to see a whole pile of card samples on the TV and never see some of them. Now that they are on the blog they can be studied in detail.

Keep up the good work.

Best wishes

Hi Sue
Happy anniversary! Hope you are celebrating in style!
I started looking at your blog after meeting you on the C & C cruise in May, and I ve enjoyed reading it every day since. I look forward to reading the next 365 blogs!
I've been thinking about the thing I like best about your blog, but its been hard trying to pin one single thing down! There are so many! Firstly, it's the obvious ones, your cards are always so beautiful in so many ways and give us such wonderful ideas and inspiration. You have taught us how to look at our dies in such a way that we can cut a bit off here and there to make them work differently on our cards. But I think that as well as all of these reasons, I enjoy learning a little bit more about you. I like hearing about your life, your visits to the US, the demos you do and generally anything that tells us about who you are. So when we see you on the TV we can think 'I know her'!
I hope you have a well-deserved rest, you certainly deserve it! And enjoy spending time with your Mom. You will be missed! Love from, Karen brass xx

Hi Sue
Last year I happened to find the C&C channel and thought it would be fun to try cardmaking. However, I didn’t want to use ready-made kits, I wanted to find a way of unleashing any artistic ability I might have. Then I saw one of your shows where you were demonstrating Spellbinders and the Grand Calibur and was so impressed with the professional results they give.

When I met you at Ally Pally last year you mentioned your Blog and I have found it a great source of inspiration ever since. I love watching your demonstrations, but it’s great to see close-up photographs of the cards and written details of how you have made them; such good reference material. I am slowly collecting dies and embossing folders and hope to spend the long winter evenings honing my skills.

Please keep up the good work and aim for a second year of no-stop blogging!! Enjoy your time in the States with your mother, but don’t stay away from our screens too long.
Best wishes, Anne

Wow, now that's a great question to ask! For me it is the inspiration I get from your inspiration if that makes any sense ? I always know that if im staring at my dies and my mojo has taken a hike, I can come to your blog and re-inspire myself, I would just love to be a little more in touch with my inner creativity, its in there (somewhere lol) but like I say I come onto your blog and boom my juices are flowing again.
Thanks Sue for a wonderful 12 months may there be plenty more.
Enjoy your trip to America, stay crafty,
Oh yes and to days card is, as always , stunning!!
Take care and stay happy
