For You

Hello crafters!  It's a striking black and white card for today.  I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card with the Heart Strings Embossing folder for texture.  Next I cut a smaller piece of white card and used the decorative die from the Heather die set to cut the design into the card.  I backed it with white and added a thin black mat.  Using the Summer Rose die set, I inked the die with Clear Perfect Medium and letterpressed it as I cut it out of black card (you can see the lovely debossed detail in the close up pics).  I embossed it with clear embossing powder to get a shine to it.  I did this twice then cut the frames apart and used the same corner from each to create a larger frame.  I added them together to the card with mounting foam.  I cut the sentiment from the Summer Rose Frame die set in black card and glued it into the centre of the frame.  White and black mats were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 8"x  8 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Sailboat Stained Glass

Hi bloggers!  I have a really quick and easy stained glass card for you today!  I started by cutting the Sailboat Stained Glass die out of Cobalt blue card.  I glued a piece of vellum to the back of it, then turned it over and coloured in the design with Distress markers. I used Festive Berries, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Stormy Sky, Tea Dye, Picket Fence and Faded Jeans for the colour selection.   I did use a wet paint brush to lighten some of the colours and add a bit of shading in the sun area.  I used the Double Stitched Rectangle dies to add a multi layered white frame around the design, which I added with mounting foam to raise it for dimension.  The card was completed with white, red and blue mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  7 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi bloggers!  Here is one of the cards that was shown on the One Day Special shows in Feb.   I started by stamping the flowers from the Floral Happiness stamp set by Creative Expressions.  I used Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxides for the flowers and added some Peeled Paint distress oxide for the leaves.  I dried it well with a heat tool and then covered it with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet.  I used Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz around the edges to add sparkle to the stamped flowers.  I cut two of the Double Stitched Rectangles in white and layered them up and added them to the centre of the card (raised with some foam).  I letterpressed the Summer Rose Frame, once in Peeled Paint for the leaves and once in Worn Lipstick for the flowers.  I cut the flowers out and added them to the top of the green letterpressed flowers and glued them to the rectangle.  I cut the frame from the centre of the Summer Rose frame and stacked them up for dimension.  The base was cut from a piece of sticky adhesive on white card using the larger shape.  I peeled the backing off and added the edge frame to it.  I cut the sentiment out then inked it with Worn Lipstick and added it to the centre of the frame.  I used Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz on the remaining exposed adhesive for a bit of bling.  I glued it to the centre of the Summer Rose Frame and completed the card with white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  If you would like a chance to win this card, just leave a comment on this post.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

You Are Too Kind

Hello bloggers!  I missed this pretty sample from the Sept. release and thought I would share it now with you.  I started by cutting both off the  decorative dies of the Sagitta Gemini die without the cutting edges into the sides of a piece of coconut white card.  I backed it with vellum for a soft look.  Next I cut the larger section of the die in Blue Dusk card twice and used the fall away pieces to paper piece the small teardrops back into the background for a touch of blue.  Next I cut the Jennifer die in white as a backdrop for my focal element.  The Scarlet die was cut in Blue Dusk card and backed with vellum and added to the middle.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the oval from the Scarlet die and backed it with a hand cut faux oval in blue.  I stacked them and added them with foam mounting to the centre.  Three vellum flowers were made using the small flower from the Nasturtium Cluster set and inked very lightly with  Stormy Sky Distress ink and added to the focal element.  White and Blue Dusk card mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Happy Easter

Good Sunday morning and Happy Easter! For this fun Easter card, I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card with the Daisy Burst embossing folder.  I cut a small strip off of one end and added a strip of acetate between it and the larger part of the embossed background, then added mounting foam to the back to raise it.  I cut another piece of coconut white card the same size as the background and added a strip of self adhesive sticky sheet so it lined up with the acetate, then peeled the backing off and added Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz to it.  I added the background over it so the glitter showed through the acetate area.  Next I cut eight large carrots from the Easter Bunny Egg die set and coloured them with Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks.  I( glued them across the acetate area, offsetting them.  I cut the Happy Easter Egg die out of coconut white card that had been inked with Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide so it matched the carrots.  I cut the sentiment in white and glued it on top of the egg and sprayed it with adhesive and glittered it.  I seated the egg on a double set of scalloped eggs, slightly offset to show the scallops and added it with foam to the lower part of the card.  I added a white bow to the top.  Three yellow chicks adorned the lower edge of the card, inked lightly with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink.  White on white mats and layers completed the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8" in size.   All for now, Sue x
