Congratulations

Good Sunday morning all! Today's card is similar to one that I have shown already, but it is a much more simplified version so I thought it was worth sharing.  I started with a piece of coconut white card.  I used the Sunrise mask taped to the top of the card.  I inked through the mask with Fossilized Amber using a smoothie and blended it down past the mask slightly.  Next I added Spiced Marmalade to the sun area and into the tops of the rays, pulling a bit of the colour into the rays and slightly past the end of the mask.  I removed the mask and die cut the Circle City Skyline in black gloss and added it with foam at the bottom of the mask line.  I cut the Congratulations in black gloss card and glued it above the city.  White on white mats and layers completed this simple card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Wow Sue, just like some of the stunning sun rise skies I've seen recently, but it's the skyline that makes this sample so powerful, although you've said it's "a simplified version" it's just as magical, and as for the ray of sunshine Sue, it's what we wake up to every morning when we open your wonderful blog of Sue Wilson inspiration so thank you. Enjoy your day xxx

It’s funny how this is assumed to be New York. I guess the Congratulations sentiment implies “if you make it here you can make it anywhere,” or “ready for the big time.”

Since first seeing your rays die, I have acquired it, this mask and an embossing folder. Seems we need the rays in all kinds of forms. Some rays don’t go far enough out, but this one does.

Recently I was coloring in a sunrise with alcohol markers, but I used too red of an orange with the yellow, so it looks scorching, like high noon in a desert. Colors have so many moving parts.

Best,
Donita
