Miss You

Good Sunday morning all!  I have a rustic frame card for you today.  I started with a piece of black card and painted it with crackle glaze and allowed it to dry well.  Next I painted it with a mixture of Matte White Chalk paint with a little bit of Chocolate Gold Metallic Lustre paint to tint the colour.  The paint quickly crackles and then I set it aside to dry.  I roughed up the edges a bit with the edge of my scissors.  I cut the Springtime Frame three times, twice out of Antique Gold card and once out of black card.  I used the black behind the gold as a shadow, then cut only the watering can and the butterflies out of the last die cut and added them with foam to raise them.  I cut the Miss You mini expression sentiment in both gold and black and glued it into the centre of the frame.  The card was completed with white, gold and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2"  x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

I love the background that you have made for this card. It gives this die a completely different look.

Wow now this is different Sue love that background and would have to grunge up the lovely die cuts a bit, maybe by cutting them in black then adding some form of gilding wax. Now you have me going this background and your steampunk dies WOW, Sue this is why we love you and your blog you get us thinking out of the box and trying other stuff. Thank you so much, love your card. Have a great day, hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good Morning Sue

Oh my goodness! This is a fantastic use of the die on such a background I absolutely love it. I think you remind us Sue that we sometimes need to try to think out of the box and away from the expected. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Hi Sue,

Wow, what a contrast to yesterday's clean and simple design although in both samples the background plays a big part in making the focal point pop...love that crackled background, mixing in a little brown with the matte white really brings out the "cracks" and the Springtime Frame looks lovely in whatever colour it's cut from....I bought that one as soon as I saw it...

Quite a departure from the spring colors we saw when this die was was first reileased. But it still works nicely.

This weekend was our biggest satamp and scrapbook convention for all of New England. We stayed overnight two nights and got together with a group from northern New England to make cards together. Saturday night we made cards in our room using the new stamps and dies and supplies we bought and the techniques we learned. One vendor was selling Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Polish. That's the closest we got to any Creative Expressions products at the show. Tremendous way to spend a weekend. Now we're all tuckered out.

May your Sunday be sunny.

Best,

Donita

Hello Sue, an amazing creation, which just shows the versatility of this fame die, and how the effect is so different when cut and coloured or going for the more muted colour combo. The crackled background is perfect to achieve the rustic look. Have a good day everyone. Bx

Hi Sue, like everyone else, I too love the effect ofthe crackle background. As I don't have any crackle paste,I've never done any backgrounds this way, but maybe I will have to get some now and give it a whirl.
Your springtime die is so versatile as there are lots of areas that you can snip off to use as embellishments on other cards. Definitely value for money.
Really like this card. Thank you Sue. Hugs xx

Good Sunday afternoon everyone,
I do love this die and think it looks great in gold. I used it for Mother's Day and also for a birthday card and they just come out so well...even for me!
I am waiting for some of the new crackle paste which seems a lot easier than this background but perhaps a similar outcome.I have used a crackle paint before. Any how, a great card as always and a different take on a favorite die.
Donita, sounds like you had fun! I love stamp shows and we don't have many. I do see one vender with C/S Glitter Kiss & Polish.I'm betting the same one you saw.

Hi Sue. Oooh this is a lovely card !!! Just Beautiful !!! I love the Spring Time Frame die set. I have this die and I have used it a couple of times so far. I really must make some more cards with this fab die set. I love the Rustic style card you have created, and the Crackle Glaze effect looks amazing !!! Something a bit different but really beautiful. I love the way the background matches with the gold card used on the frame. Decoupaging certain parts of the card makes it look extra special too. Thanks for sharing.
I also wanted to say how much I loved yesterday's card and video to. For some reason I watched the video yesterday and it looks like I forgot to comment !!! I really love the card and fab video. Clean and simple but very elegant looking. A beautiful card. Sending you lots of love Sue from Tres X X X

Thank you once again for a lovely card Sue,not that I would dare to try it as I'm a little afraid of failure in my old age. I'm building up an arsenal of dies, stamps, paints, pixie powders etc.etc. I do love owning them but I really SHOULD start using them don't you think.
Love to all.
