My Favourites Of 2016

Hi there my crafty friends!  Happy New Year to you too!  As is another tradition, the first day of each new year is devoted to showcasing some of my favourite cards from the previous year.  I am not sure why I have picked these, but I do recall that there was just something about each of these as I finished them that made me smile.  Some are very detailed, some are very clean and simple and the first one here is very distressed, so there is no particular unifying thread to any of them, I just really liked them all.  I would love to hear your thoughts on them, if you would have chosen any of the same cards, or is there a card you would have included that I have forgotten. perhaps?  Here are my picks from 2016, in no particular order, for your perusal.  I hope you like them and they give you a wonderful start to a fabulous 2017!

I would just like to add a quick note to all my blog readers too.  I really look forward to all your comments every day, they are the life blood of this blog family, but I think we need to try to keep them more positive as we start this new year.  I have had a number of emails from people saying that they love to come to see what is new each day but they leave feeling a bit saddened from reading all the comments. The absolute hardest thing for me is to get to know each of you through your comments on my blog and then one day suddenly you are gone,  I rarely know why and to be honest, it is a bit soul wrenching for me.  I would hate to think they you have left because the blog too sad. I want my blog to be a place where we can all share our lives, but perhaps we can do it in a more uplifting manner, focus on the positive in our lives.   I think it would benefit us all too and I hope you will agree.  I sincerely hope that this does not offend anyone, my goal is merely to strike a balance that everyone can be happy with on the blog.  Happy 2017, here's to a better and brighter year!  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and Colin.
I can see why you chose these stunning arts of work as your favourites, the cards using your paper pack sing spring and summer and happiness, now they have made me smile, the others are adorable.

I'd like to thank you for all the opportunities you have given us to win dies during your launches, for offering so many gifts for the Blog candy and for every card you send for the Wednesday giveaway plus the gift for each comment winner. Thank you for your inspiration each day no matter what life brings to your door or where you are in the world, and for the help and advice you give if we're struggling with our projects, and THANK YOU for being YOU.
I really hope that people read your end comment as it's been so sad and mood lowering for most of last year so much so I've stopped reading, and just popping in to look and comment, and I think a lot of followers have done the same, so let's hope we have a much happier and brighter blog where we use to leave laughing and smiling and not leave feeling depressed and sad for the day. On that note, I wish my special friends a happy 2017 full of happiness and great crafting and many new dies ☺
sending a special big hug to you today and a big thank you as I know it couldn't have been easy for you to find the words to end your blog today xxxxx

Good morning Sue and a Happy New Year to you and your family
I've been trying to choose a favourite card but I genuinely love them all lol! But if it was down to colour choice it would have to be ANY blue one lol!
I stopped reading the comments a long time ago, we all have stress/sadness in our lives some more than others but I choose to share mine with close family and friends only. I certainly wouldn't leave the blog because of the sad postings I just don't read them. People react differently to stress/sadness etc and can share with total strangers I can't personally but no two people are the alike! As you know I've been with you from the beginning and my card making has improved tremendously with the inspiration I get from your blog and videos. I follow your blog for inspiration and any that leave because they are offended are following your blog for the wrong reasons! You are one of the nicest kindest peopIe I know, your generosity has no bounds! So I'm afraid your stuck with me lol!
I can imagine that you found it hard to write about the sad postings!

Good Morning Sue a very Happy New Year to you and yours! I look at your blog daily, but haven't commented before because I thought there's enough people saying how I feel about you're cards. Truly inspirational, you are so creative in the way you make so many different cards ensigns - from one set of dies...and how you mix and match. I look forward every day to seeing your card, every one is beautiful.
I have a question that comes to me every time I watch you on Hochanda. What happens to all the cards you make, that don't go to people who mail in or are regulars on your blog?
May you and yours be blessed with good health, happiness and prosperity throughout 2017 x

Well, here we are - 2017! What a treat to see your favourite cards, Sue, many of these are in my 'saved' file - particularly love the first, have a bit of a thing about your distressed look. Thank you so much for your generosity and inspiration (and videos) over the past year, much appreciated.
So sorry that you've had the difficult task of asking for a more positive blog and you have always been so compassionate in allowing people to share. Personally have to say never been depressed - only concerned - reading the comments, so many needing a caring response and what's the harm? A lot of the Wilsonettes going through very difficult times so sending hugs to those special people and their loved ones. Could say more but won't.
Thanks to all kind friends who left a message re my wonderful aunt, who never had much in the way of material things and lived in a tiny cottage with no 'mod cons' until she was 90 - but was content in her life and spread love and fun around. Truly remarkable.
Happy New Year all!!

This blogg is meant to be about your cards and giving us inspiration, which it does every day, but I understand why you said what you did. Hello Sue,

I can see why these were your favourite cards for 2016 and some of them were my favourites too, particularly the first distressed card - that was and still is a stunner..also loved the Perspectives samples and that cute baby card...I was surprised though that there were no festive cards included in the array but maybe you thought we've all seen enough Christmas cards for now!...lol

I have to agree with you that we should all try to be more positive in the comments we leave on your blog, we all have problems and grief from time to time but I was always taught that you should share your happiness but keep your troubles to yourself, but maybe that's a bit old-fashioned nowadays...I do sympathise with those of us who have had a hard time lately and some are still going through the mill so to speak but maybe if we all make an effort to keep our comments happy and positive it might help us all to feel that way too.

On that note may I wish you, Sue and all my fellow bloggers a very HAPPY NEW YEAR and I know we're all looking forward to seeing lots more inspiring dies and designs from you to keep us happily crafting away through 2017...

Izzy

Hi Sue,
You have shown us some beautiful inspiration today and throughout the past year, I just love all the cards and wonder how you manage to continue to come up with such different inspiration daily. I also agree with some of the other comments today, that your blog is about crafting and inspiration, that is the reason I love to follow your blog, and I think you absolutely said the right thing. I'm sure no offence will be taken. Crafting helps us all have a little respite from the stresses and strains that we all have to endure in life.
Have a lovely New Years Day and a great 2017.

Happy New Year Sue,
Such a stunning assortment of cards, it's impossible to pick a favourite, you have designed some absolutely amazing cards this year, mainly due to the fact that you have designed some absolutely amazing die collections this year.
I love to look in every day to see what you have to inspire us, thank you for that inspiration Sue.
This year I will be commenting more, I miss the morning giggles we used to share!
Here's to another hugely successful year for you Sue!!
Huge hugs,

Morning Sue, what a beautiful selection of your favourite cards I would love to have them all, they certainly show off your amazing creativity. I don' know how you do it!

I totally agree with your comments in your last paragraph-personally I do not read any of the comments now - I found all through 2015 and 2016 the blog was becoming laden with others troubles. We all have trauma in our lives at some point so please try to keep these within your own family and do not burden an excellent blog where most comments are positive.

Hi Sue,
Although I read your blog everyday, I stopped commenting as I seemed to be repeating myself, beautiful, fantastic etc. I also found some of the comments distressing and stopped reading them. I will now make a comment everyday even if I do repeat myself as they are all true. These cards are beautiful and I love them all.
A Happy New Year to all.

Hi Sue.
How can anyone pick out a favourite when all your cards are so exquisite? Can't wait to see what you up come up with in 2017!! I must admit I don't usually read the comments, and I don't often have time to comment myself, but your blog is the first thing I read every morning, followed by John's and Julia's, and they give me crafty inspiration every day. Thank you again for sharing your skills and ideas with us.
Have a great 2017 with good health and happiness.

All Cards are beautiful, Sue, but my favourites are these ones which are filigree.
So the more delicate a card is the more I like it.
To be honest I don´t read the comments because I need to much time for that. I only read them when there are just a few. You could say if there are more then 25 comments on the blog I don´t read them anymore, sorry.
Best wishes to everyone for 2017

Hi Sue,
Sorry but it's impossible to choose a single favourite as they are all so lovely. I, like many others it would appear, gave up reading the comments ages ago for the reasons you so carefully specified. We all love you to bits and know what a caring person you are so it must have taken a deep breath for you to compose and post that but well done. Can't wait to see what wonderful ideas and inspiration you have lined up for us over the coming year.

Hi Sue,
Beautiful cards to start the new Year! My new year started with my kitten hiding under the sofa as my neighbours decided to have fireworks...about 30 feet from my lounge room window lol. The 'official' ones were stunning as always and viewed from my back garden. I still think that Sydney won the displays hands down. I never cease to enjoy the golden waterfall of 'fire' falling from the harbour bridge, and all set to music as well. They have two displays as well, I believe, one around 9pm for the kids😊
It's wet and miserable in my corner of Cornwall today so all thoughts of converting the greenhouse into a cold frame are now on hold...thank goodness lol.
Happy January 1st everyone.

First I want to say that I love your gorgeous "favorites"! I couldn't choose a favorite from these if my life depended on it! Thank you for sharing your heart, talent, life and generosity with us daily! You really ARE connected to your fans in a way that most designers aren't.
As to the people who have written you because the comments are "sad and depressing", I ask what does it hurt if someone feels a little better after someone leaves them a comforting/caring/informational or helpful comment after reading what they wrote. We all have our troubles in life and all of us need comfort or a kind word now and again. I personally think that if the comments are making someone sad or depressed then maybe there is an underlying issue that they can't face or that maybe they aren't very caring. If you don't like what the comments say, don't read them.
I personally feel honored that these ladies who are from all over the world trust us with their troubles. If I think I can help them to feel a little better I will leave a comment directed at them. I know there is a group of 5-8 (?) ladies who are very close and comfort each other through life's trials and tribulations. I feel bad that a few have decided that THEIR feelings are so much more important than trying to help a fellow human being.
There are days that my life is so off kilter that I just don't read other's comments because I can't take on anymore than I already have but other days I read most if not all of the comments and have laughed, cried and even happy danced when something great is happening to one of the "regulars".
It is YOUR blog and your choice what content you want in the comments so I will honor that and not leave any of life's defeats or victories lest I sadden someone who doesn't want to know about me.
I love your blog, your creations and most of all your kind and generous heart! Thank you for all you do for us and I will see you next post! :-) Happy New Year! I hope your year is as amazing as you are!
to all the Wilsonettes~~Happy New Year! May you have lots of joy and blessings this year!

Happy New Year Sue

Your blog is the first one I look at each day and has been for several years but I'll hold my hand up to stepping away from commenting sometime ago due to having to scroll through quite graphic medical details at times(when comments are visible above the comment box you type in, you can't help but see them)and seeing a comment about someone "vomiting blood" was what made me step back.
To the person who said "I have read your comment at the end of your blog and can totally understand your point of view" and then said "if you don't want to read it you don't have to"I'm baffled as to why you would suggest to Sue that she doesn't have to read comments left for her on her own blog.
Whatever we all think of the subject, this is Sue's blog and we should respect what she has asked, instead of pointing fingers at people that may have contacted her or have said "here, here" today. At the end of the day, if Sue didn't agree with them, she would not have made the request she has.
Sue, I hope that people do respect your wishes and please don't think that those of us who don't always leave comments are ignoring your hard work ...... we are still here, in silent admiration.

All the best.

Such a delightful array of your beautiful cards that you made in the year 2016. I have three favorites from today's selection: the first card, the distressed one; the "LOVE You" in white and purple; and the "Many Thanks" in white and pink. Looking forward to a more positive and uplifting blog. Yesterday I finished a "Sue Wilson" card, your "Scrunched Vellum Flower Card" which is currently on YouTube but not yet a feature on your blog. This was the first card that I have made of yours while watching your video and not reading directions from your blog. I even had all of the dies you used, as well as the stamp set and the wisteria card stock. I did change the stamped sentiment for my friend. I must admit, I had to play and replay lots of the video, but it was fun and I got my card completed. It looks great! Want to guess who will be the receiver of this lovely card? I want to thank you for all the inspiration you have given me this year. I find myself doing some of your techniques and smiling with gratitude that you share so much of your creativity and that my "right brain" is finally "getting it". Looking forward to more beautiful cards from you in this new year. Bless you Sue!

Hello Sue.

Lovely Cards. I would not have liked to have picked theses Cards either, so hard to choose. There where a couple that I thought were absolutely stunning this year and although I have them pinned I can not find the titles of them to mention here. I seem to have been drawn to the darker ones this year especially if they also had gilding flakes except for the pastels for the Stuffed Animals and Baby Shadow Box. Thank you for sharing.

On a personal note, I must admit I rarely read the other comments. I might catch a couple as I open the box to post mine. I did notice them more when I first started coming to the blog and I thought they knew each other, I didn't know who they were or who they were talking about, so I just moved on. I personally have no objection to their chatter, I think it gives some people comfort to talk to others, if you don't like it, don't read it, just move on. I hope this doesn't offend anyone.

These are all so beautiful, first class choices for the "hits of 2016" list but I would also add some of your amazing Christmas cards. I loved all the creations with the 2016 angel and the snow globe cards especially. There were so many knock dead gorgeous cards that any one would adore if it came in their mail. Also this year were your wonderful autumn cards with the swirly vine background. I ordered that die set because of your inspiring videos & the blog posts. Thank you so much for sharing your talents. Evening Sue
How on earth did you manage to pick favourites? That must have been so hard. I must admit, the cards you have blessed us with today are beautiful. Each and every one of them is exquisite x
I do have a bit of a soft spot for the card with the stuffed animals. I was delighted when your new launch included all the beautiful baby dies and bought them all from you at Ally Pally x
Has anyone made any resolutions? I think setting goals is a slightly better way of putting it! I always used to give up on my resolutions on about 3rd January so decided it was a bit pointless! One of my goals is to try and make more cards. If I could manage to make one a week it would be fantastic and that is quite a realistic target. Now if I could make one a day ..........
We'll see x
Lazy, chilled day today - disrupted by my being turned into an emotional wreck whilst watching ET! Get's me every time. What with that and poor Dobby in the Harry Potter film the other night I think I am turning into a softy as I age disgracefully. Lol x
I moaned about the Harry Potter films being on every night but then watched them all. Never mind - John is with us on Hochanda this evening so excitement rather than sobbing at the loss of an Elf or ET will be the order of the day x
Speaking of Hochanda - when will you he back with us again Sue? I love John, Julia, Lisa and Phil but noone does it quite like you - you're simply the best!
Ok folks - a big Happy New Year to you all. None of us know what 2017 will bring but I would like to send lots of love to everyone especially all my blog besties - you all know who you are x

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Happy New Year to our gorgeous Sue and all of the wonderful Wilsonettes, may it be a healthy, happy and prosperous one:-)
What a veritable treat for my slightly hungover senses, yesterdays orphans were stunning but today's selection feature some of my own personal favourites from 2016. Most notably your shabby chic offering, i totally fell in love with this beauty when it was featured, you do this style with such flair and finesse and i would love it if you released your inner grunge more often in 2017. I also love the cards using your gorgeous paper pad...i even tried one of the pink efforts myself and was super pleased with the results....they are all exceptional Sue and you have every right to feel proud of your achievements.
I had a "party" of sorts with my Mum last night to celebrate the New Year, it consisted of some fizz, premium crisps and popcorn accompanied by Chicago DVD...boy, do we know how to put the boat out:-) True to form, i showed my age and total lack of staying power by collapsing into bed after four glasses, a quarter of the movie and half a large bag of crisps at 11pm, yes, I didn't even see the bells for the second year in a row! On the plus side, i had a good nights sleep and woke none the worse for my pathetic efforts so my liver lives to fight another day:-)
I must admit that i have been rather dismayed by the mood and feelings expressed on the blog over the past couple of days. I was saddened to hear that comments of others had reduced Elaine to tears, i for one have never been depressed, offended or thought of abandoning this wonderful blog due to any personal details shared by another member. It is a shame that others have felt compelled to complain and bother Sue with their grievances when the simple solution is to just not read the comment you find fault with. This blog can provide a safe, non judgemental haven for those needing a sympathetic ear and i for one am only too happy to give it to them. You see, we may be virtual strangers on the face of it but i really care about what happens to anyone sharing this forum.
Part of me feels insecure about whether or not i am offending people too, whilst i try to be upbeat and humorous i am admittedly overly chatty about issues other than the blog post....though i do try to give Sue a detailed piece of feedback.
I enjoy reading the comments and have felt welcome on this blog always. I have been fortunate enough to make some real friends with whom i share many interests and this would never have been possible if we hadn't shared a part of ourselves on the blog
It matters to me what you think Sue after all this is your blog and it should attempt to honour your wishes at all times where possible. Knowing you to be a kind, generous, humble and caring person i can appreciate that it must have been incredibly difficult for you to express your feelings on this sensitive matter for fear that you may offend or upset. Anyone who knows you will realise that your wishes come from the heart and i for one can only commend you for your honesty.
I hope that the blog is a place of joy and optimism in 2017, not because i find it depressing but because i wish good things to all.
Sending my usual hugs to all my besties, Yvonne, P, Pam,Myra, Maureen, Wheely, Tracy, Elaine, both Tina's, Frances, theresa, Maria, Deb C and anyone else in need of a cuddlexxx

Happy New Year Sue and everyone

Apologies for not posting for ages......but I'm back now.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and was lucky enough to get some of Sues dies. I hope you were blessed with whatever was on your wish list too Sue, I bet you are the only person who wasn't hoping for a Sue Wilson die!

I love all of your showcased cards, and it is so difficult to pick just one favourite. However, there are quite a few here that have inspired me to buy some of the dies used on these. I remember so vividly seeing card number 5 (the love) one at Ally Pally and falling in love with the flowers and just having to buy them there and then. I also especially like the cards using your paper pad as they are so lacy and delicate, and who couldn't love the cute baby card? As I said they are all beautiful cards Sue. I look forward to seeing more throughout the year.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and creative new year Sue. X

Hi Sue
Lovely to see your favourites on the blog Sue. They are all simply gorgeous.
Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year. I'd like to thank you personally for all the time and effort you put into your blog. Plus all the hard work you put into your dies. Quite often we say why don't you do this or the other at Ally Pally. As per usual your one step ahead of us, with, watch this space.
I must say I quite agree with your comments about writing about sad things on the blog. I for one never read them. I have sad things going on in my life and would never broadcast this on the blog. Life's to short to be miserable. It must have been hard to write your comments. But you give us so much joy on your blog, without comments to make us sad.

If I had to choose a favourite it would be No. 1 I really struggle with the distress

look on cards etc you have made the distress look just beautiful I love it.

Thankyou for all you do for us Bless you and here's to a good New Year

for all.

Evening Sue and everyone.
Let me first say that all the little Orphans yesterday were all so nice and they all had something to like about them. So many times I made a card and it ended up either in the bit box or more then often in the bin.
Not sure how you got to these cards only because your cards are all lovely and can't wait to see the ones for 2017. Love your stamps, dies and to watch your tutorial videos and one day hope to have the dies together and the courage to make one of your cards at home and not just at Julia's work shops :-).

Reg, the last mention I too wish that 2017 will be a happier and healthier year for you and to all Wilsonette's and everything will be on the up, however life it's not always so easy for some and if they found comfort to tell this on your blog I have no problems with that at all, just a shame some people can't see it that way and can feel happy to support others and I'm sad to see that Elaine got so upset the other day for something someone said. Believe we been there before.....
I am sending special hugs to Elaine and Andrew, Tina and Peter, Nannatina,Lynda, June, Betty,Julie L, Deb C, Wheelybad, P, Craftynanna, Barbara,Theresa, Yvonne, Laine and to many of the Wilsonette's I have met through you wonderful blog Sue and hope to meet many more of you during 2017 at Ally Pally or NEC, other craftshows are available :-)
Sorry I took the limelight from you this morning Myra, hihi
Take care everyone,
Maria x

Hello Sue,
It's late again for me as I have guests staying overnight! I wasn't going to comment ibut I will because otherwise you lose another follower and I don't want that as you are a lovely, kind lady. I'm just sad that trouble has been brought back to your blog yet again! That makes me sad.
It is my hope and prayer for 2017 that everyone has a peaceful , happy year! However life isn't always like that and I'm sorry for those who will have been hurt today. They have a lot to contend with as it is!
Laine - I think you are a kind, funny lady and sensitive too - thank you!
Maria - I forgive you my friend!! Ha ha!
Sue, I'm so sorry this has happened! We will keep going , keep crafting and try to keep smiling!
Night Night , Love Myra xx

Hi Sue,
First off Happy New Year - wishing good health, happiness, love, and peace. All your cards are beautiful! I am excited each and every day to look at your cards or watch a video. I can't wait for new collections!

I am so happy you commented on blog posting. I am one who has commented less for the past several months due to the nature of some of the comments. We all have things going on in our lives. I for one like to read your blog (or any craft blog) to learn and enjoy different card making techniques as well as looking at your gorgeous cards. I do not think a craft blog is the place for sadness and detailed medical discussions. Crafting is a way for me to "get away" from life's issues. so, here's to a more positive 2017.

Dear Sue, I love all your cards. It must have been very difficult to choose this group for 2016. They are all wonderful designs. I'm looking forward to what you have in store for us in 2017. Thank you for your sensitive comments at the end of your blog post. I hope everyone will continue to share comments about card making. Perhaps personal emails to a group of friends and acquaintances is a better avenue for sharing personal details with each other, and leave your blog for cardmaking comments and inspiration. Love, Judy Hollers

Hello Sue
Due to having visitors overnight I had a quick look at your gorgeous cards first thing and then forgot to pop back later!
How could I forget to comment on your stunning choice of cards!
Your first card was my favourite card of the year and I would love to see more of this type of card with the distressed look. I also loved the last four cards made with your pretty delicate papers.
Number two, five , six, nine and ten were also favourites, too. In fact one might as well say I loved all your choices!!
Wishing you a Happy, healthy and successful New Year, Sue. I am sure we are all looking forward to seeing what surprises you have in store for us!

Wishing you and all the other bloggers and crafters a Happy & Crafty new Year!

All your cards are stunning Sue, I love them all, I am partial to cards in my favourite colour lilac/purple hues or when you use the aqua card to make your cards.

I could not pick a favourite from your list, I love them all.

I also would like to say a big THANK YOU to you Sue for all the inspiration, videos, and help given via your blog etc.

I do hope the bloggers read your last note, and adhere to what you say. After all, it is a CRAFT BLOG, where we come for inspiration and hints etc. on craft and making cards.

I was another person Sue who disappeared but I did come back just before Christmas, and here to stay now, as I love to see your videos and all your stunning ards.

Love Dorothy of Baldock
