Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello my crafty friends!  Another Christmas card giveaway from the demos that I did earlier in the month on my Hochanda shows.  This time I started with a piece of Blue dusk card and used the large oval die in the Lattice Snowflake set to cut an aperture in it.  Next I stamped the Shaded Poinsettia stamp all over the background with a clear Perfect medium pad for  watermark effect. You can really see the stamped image nicely in the close up pictures below.  I added some texture to the piece with the Star Swirls embossing folder.  Then once embossed, I lightly added pearl moon gilding wax to add a soft shimmer to the top of the embossed areas.  Next I cut two of the Dove of Peace in silver card and attached them at the body with some mounting foam.  This allowed me to bring the front wings forward to add some movement to the dove.  I cut two of the star sprays in white and added them around the back of the dove for embellishment.  On the lower part of the card, I cut the Joy Wreath in both white and silver card and offset them ever so slightly to create a shadow for the letters.  I completed the card by paper piercing with my piercing ruler around a piece of white card.  I added a thin mat of blue dusk card and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  Please leave me a comment on this blog post to be entered into the drawing to win this one.  I will be announcing the winner on Saturday's blog post.

If you want to see more Christmas card demos, I will be doing another One Day Special on Hochanda beginning Friday night at 8pm and then shows running all through the day on Saturday.  The show hours are listed on the right hand side of my blog.  These shows will feature this years Christmas dies that were not on the first set of shows!  All for now, Sue x

Anyways I'm getting my mammogram results today as I'd found a lump a few weeks ago. This is my third time since I was 38.
my mom had breast cancer at 38 so to say I'm anxious is an understatement.
Yesterday before I had the mammogram I had my friends funeral he was the same age (41)
It was a horrible day an all I did was cry.
thank god for my friend Janice she was with me all day an really supported me.
Anyways thanks for letting me share this as I've not really told anyone about it. Xx

Morning Sue
How can anyone not want to see more of your Seasonal cards! I am waiting impatiently for your next set of shows this week-end.

Although as you know I'm an out and out traditionalist when it comes to Christmas but I do like today's gift. Everything you have used just enhances your beautiful Dove of Peace which of course is the star of the show.

I bought your 'Joy' die last year and didn't think you could top it but you have proved me wrong by producing this year's new edition of the word. Although I have bought my selection of Festive Dies for this year this die is on my wish list.

I have my October bday cards to make a start on today.
To all in pain an suffering today I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hello Sue,
First of all I am very sorry I forgot to post yesterday! I looked at the beautiful card, Pinned it and went off to watch the video as I wanted to see what you had done with the "waste". I was interrupted after that and completely forgot I hadn't left a comment! I like the black but prefer the white one. Just personal taste isn't it.
Today's card is lovely. I don't have the dove either and have last year's Joy. I think this one is beautiful but there were other ones I wanted to have more. Oh dear , decisions decisions! I will miss all Friday's Shows and am unable to record any as we have cable TV via Virgin Media. I do hope we can get Hochanda very soon. I would love to have seen what you do with all the lovely Christmas Dies! Never mind. I caught Julia's show on my iPad last night while ironing! It was nice to see Julia back on TV.
Stay safe- Saba! Xx

Like the watermark stamping-it's subtle yet adds such depth and richness. I could go on about each technique because I love every one of them! I have to get that EF!
Tracy S, I'm sending hugs your way. What an awful, awful day you had yesterday. I'm glad you had your friend there to lean on. I hope your results give you some piece of mind. Don't forget we r here!
Lancashire Steph - it's been a long time since I heard someone else use the phrase "stop the world, I want to get off". It just seems to capture how I feel when everything is so frenzied. I often feel if it doesn't stop, I'll lose my hold and get spun right off, never to return. It's a yucky feeling and I'm sorry u r in that place at the moment!
Frances, thank u for clarification on 4paws! And thank you for your story! I had no idea what a Furminator was until u answered Laine. I can't even type it without hearing it pronounced by a Frenchman! And it makes me giggle like a 12 year old! Lol!
Laine, worry not about sounding stupid, I wouldn't expect you to know Colorado's weather! Heck, the weathermen who get paid to know about our weather can't even figure it out! But, we typically have sunshine over 300 days a year (for at least part of the day). However, we do get snow (most parts of the state anyway). We have 4 seasons but not as distinct as those in the North Eastern part of the country, but more so than to our West. We have shorter springs and falls than some, usually because it stays hot too long in the fall, or gets hot too early in the spring. We have great skiing here (or so I'm told - lived here all my life and never skied). We have a pretty good balance as far as humidity. I live near the foothills and with an hours drive I can be in the Rocky Mountains. All in all, I can't imagine a greater place to live - just a little hot for my comfort at times. I'm an odd-duck in that Fall is my favorite season & then Winter. I love the snow & cold. So maybe I would like Stirling? I too dream of winning the lottery - but my chances are zero because I don't buy tickets (as opposed to .00000000001% if I were to buy a ticket :)
Theresa glad to see u back!
I actually took the day off work because I need to make a bday card for my sister - and like someone else said, it takes me a whole day to make one like you do in 14 minutes Sue! But I've set the bar high and now everyone expects stunners! Lol and it's all your fault Sue! Hehe- I'm not really complaining! So my point being, I better get busy!
Hugs to all!

Love the use of the gilding wax on this card. It really adds something to the finished look. Something else for my shopping list lol!

Getting so much better after the transfusion. At least I can walk without being dizzy! Now if I could just get rid of the pain in my bottom from where I fell, I'd be back to normal, whatever that is!!! 😀

Tracy, I feel for you as I know only too well how it is to wait for results. Sending you positive thoughts and good wishes!

Best wishes and hugs to whoever needs them.

Good evening Sue and her crafty crew!

What a gem of a card, so much to learn from the variety of techniques used- I would never normally stamp then emboss a background in fear that it would be texturely and visually overbearing but somehow when you do something it always works beautifully. Maybe the secret is to be bold and experiment because it's only a piece of paper after all and you'll never make the same mistake twice. I'm not overly keen on this shade of blue, it has grey undertones and I prefer a warmer blue, but the gilding wax is a lovely touch. The doves are exceptional, I love how you layer them to give the wings movement. Anyone would be proud to own such a beautiful sample of your genius.
I'm getting steadily more excited about your weekend shows..I've even almost forgotten my disappointment at not having met you at Ally Pally last week, but not quite!...the thought of you featuring more festive favourites has really whetted my appetite. It must take up oodles of time preparing your samples and demos before the big day, I really appreciate all the hard work you put in on our behalf. Do you think that you will be appearing on any rival channels as well in the future or are you exclusive to Hochanda? Whilst their presenters and format are improving, their prices lag behind, I feel that they need to offer comparable deals to C&C to compete in the long term.
Had a busy day today, was on the phone and internet at 9 am sharp for the pre sales of the Strictly Come Dancing Live shows- spent a small fortune last year buying regular seats in the second row which were fab but decided to get disabled tickets this year..my Mum has two sticks and I usually use a wheelchair, it's the blind leading the blind:-)...can't quite believe that the difference in cost, it was three times higher last year for seats not much closer to the stage! I am so looking forward to it, it starts again proper this weekend and it's one of my favourite shows...rather ironic considering I use a chair, but I like to think of myself as a seated salsa officianado:-) I love getting 'Strictlified' for the event, getting kitted out in all my tackiest bling, however, apart from loads of little girls in sequinned dresses and tiaras my Mum and I stood out somewhat in the centre of Glasgow at 2.30 in the afternoon:-)
Tracey S, I've been thinking about you all day today, how brave of you to open up to us about you health concerns, I am truly humbled. You have really had a mountain to climb over the past few years and it can't have helped having your own mortality shaken by the death of your friend. I truly hope that you receive some positive news today, you deserve a bit of good fortune honey. Please let us know how you get on, massive hugsxxxx

Rebecca, your my kind of gal, you've certainly got your priorities right in the balance between work and pleasure-hope you make some headway on your cards today, I'm with you though in the fact that it takes me a number of hours to recreate a bit of Sue Wilson magic, my standards are impossibly high now...as are my family's...I just wish I was slightly more efficient! Maybe I should have started my Christmas cards in March cos at this rate I'll be lucky to complete enough to go round!
Colorado sounds just perfect to me, you have the best of both worlds with the seasons, we have a temperate climate which means a lot of damp mild weather all year round without the massive temperature shifts. As Norah will testify though, Stirling is very beautiful cos we are surrounded by the Ochil hills with larger craggy hills and lochs in the distance.
Frances, thanks for enlightening me on the definition of Furnicator , I still can't get the little French voice out of my head though, it's given me hours of fun and giggles...sad I know!
Wishing everyone a lovely remainder to your evening, hope you're getting a bit of rest between jobs though Suexxxx

Love and crafty hugs
