Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi bloggers!  These weeks seem to be flying by,  don't they!  I feel like it was just yesterday that I was offering the last giveaway card!  It's Wednesday once again and time for a new card giveaway and today's offering is a simple yet elegant card made using the Canadian Background.  I selected milk card and peach card for this one.  I started by cutting the Canadian background out of milk card.  Next, I cut the background into strips, following the lines of the design.  I backed three of the strips with another piece of milk card and added mounting foam to the back of them to raise them for dimension.  I cut another Canadian background, again out of milk card, but this time, I backed the entire background with peach card.  I attached it to a larger piece of milk card and then added my three strips down every other row, leaving a row of the background showing through in between.  I added cream flatback pearls to the raised strips as embellishments.  I made a flower from milk card, using the Perfect Peony Complete petal die set and inked the edges with Tattered Rose before assembling.  Once assembled, I "sugared" the flower with Iced Snow and allowed it to dry before adding it to my card.  I seated it on some cream tulle and added some Maidenhair fern as accents.  I stamped a sentiment and cut it out with the Pierced Flags die set.  I made two matching stick pins and added them in behind the flower.  I finished the card with a milk mat which I paper pierced, then a thin peach mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 5 3/4" x  7 3/4" in size.  If you would like to be included in the drawing for this one, just leave me a comment.  I will post the winners name on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes...Wow Sue, I think I’m knocked off the edge of my seat more often than I am sat on it when it comes to viewing your daily card for the first time, especially when it comes to using my favourite colour; this fabulous card is a prime example of your very impressive & spectacular talents. There is certainly nothing simple about this card Sue because for me it oozes style & elegance, I, blessed be me, have all the items you have used today right down to the Tattered Rose ink, what a result, in fact I recently put the names of the dies & CE items I am short of owning into a hat & the Canadian background, Classic fold over flower die, 3 colour cloud inks, & Linear leaves EF were picked out so popped along Friday to CE Kettering to buy my rewards before food shopping...perfect.

Whoever wins this divine little beauty will be dancing with supreme joy from here to eternity, so on that note I would like to convey my best wishes & good luck in the draw to all our magnificent Wilsonettes.

YVONNE G, everyday I think of you hoping that you are improving daily so it’s lovely to hear from you again my friend. I know where you are coming from with regards to ‘body on strike’ etc & I really can sympathise with you & I’m not just saying this because I may have mentioned it to Sue or written in an earlier comment that I was diagnosed with Chronic ME or CFS some years back after suffering several chest infections & bronchial pneumonia, every day is a constant tedious struggle with the body, the brain & sometimes just everyday simple things that would take anyone else minutes or a day to think of or to do whilst for me it takes hours or a week. If it wasn’t for my part time, term time job & my beautiful girls then I hate to think how worse this could be for me. So (((HUGS))) to you my friend x x x

Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to Annie & Bambi & (((HUGS)))to all our four-paws, hope she has recovered from her nervous night & that the vet says she can have the Bach’s Rescue. Love to you & family Lynda x x x

LORRAINE; just loved reading your posts they really cheer me up with a good giggle to boot; I have to wait for a reasonably good day before I can be as funny, Lol. X x x

I’m still in shock my friends re Ally Pally; Mr B’s original shift pattern showed he was off that day & he was taking me but on Frid gone his shift pattern says he is working that day & no one wants to swap or give him the day off; grrrrrrrr I am hugely disappointed & was so looking forward to meeting our friends who could join us & especially now that a lovely lady has arranged for a group to meet with Sue at 2.30 on Sat, how lovely & generous of our dear Sue when her time is so valuable. X x x

Must close now my dear friends as I’m at character limit so Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to Sue & to you all especially to Cheryl, Molly, Melody & family & anyone else who is under par x x x Love Beth B x x x

Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Oh Sue this is bonnie today, so soft in shading and so just right the soft peachy pink against what for me is winter white, a gentler white than the stark one. I love everything about it including that soft hinted rose with colour on it's edges. I know i don't have the Canadian background so will need to have a look later to see what i can use instead.
Car into get a winter check down so my friend is meeting me there to pick me up and take me into Stirling. Her hubby is doing the driving but i know she feels the same as me, i hope he finds somewhere or thing to do while we do the main business of putting the world to rights inbetween coffees and having a wee daunder round the shops. He has always got to be right and pick my friend up before she even trips never mind falls P.I.T.B.(pain in the b**). Since he stopped working he always has to be there following around like a collie dog or in his case a pit bull terrier.
Have a lovely day girls and sending hugs to all my Angels that have helped to keep me a float.

Hello Sue & Wilsonettes,
Yes please! I would love to have my name put in the drawing! I absolutely love this card! I must get that background die. It's already on my wish list (but then again, everything I don't have is on that list- lol)! Beth B I think your method of putting wish list items into a hat is a perfect way to judiciously choose what to buy next. It would save me time because I'll hem & haw over the choices for quite a while, when the fact of the matter is, I want it all (wow that sounds selfish- but it's true)!
Oops, phone about to run out of juice. Sending happy thoughts & good luck to all the Wilsonettes! Did I mention I want to be included in the drawing? Well just in case you weren't sure, I'd love to be included in the drawing! Lol :o)

Top of the morning Sue and the lovely Wilsonettes,

Wow! The Canadian background die is perhaps my most favourite die at the moment-I have just completed a card and matching box for a friends birthday using this fabulous die , I just love the way that you can embellish it with pearls, it's so effective. Layering with the panels is ingenious and the classic Sue finishing touches of the flower and stick pins create a work of art. Anybody would be cock a hoop to receive this beautiful card, so good luck to everyone in the draw.
Just a briefish post today, I have to rush off for a bath and wash my hair before I meet up with a friend later-she's going to introduce me to her new baby called Lulu who is a n 11 week old shit zuh( is that how you spell it?). I'm a bit afraid of dogs after being bitten on the face by a Labrador when I was 3 yrs old-I can handle little ones though, as long as they are no bigger than a large cat. It's funny how I don't mind being bitten and scratched by a moggie but I have a paralysing fear of being bitten by a dog- I love all animals and find dogs cute too....just at a distance! I have bought Lulu a little furry jacket to attach her lead to and keep her warm in the cold Scottish climate- I bought one for Brodie too but the small was a bit neat around his shoulders, he looked hilarious running around the house trying desperately to wiggle out of it:-) Cruel? who me?
I really wish that I could go to Ally Pally this month, it would be a dream of mine to meet the lovely Sue and some of you cheeky ladies, well, maybe next year....
Susi, so sorry to hear about your blood transfusion, I've had a few in my time and it is amazing the positive effect they can have afterwards, they give you a real boost of energy- hope you feel better soonxxxx
Beth, I had no idea about your health woes, ME is a chronically debilitating illness so you are a true superwoman achieving all that you do, I only wish that I had an ounce of your gung-Ho spirit! I was really ill last year when my weight dropped to 3.5 stones so I know what it feels like to be sapped of all your strength, it can be frustrating and soul destroying. You just have to tell yourself that you won't let the limitations of your body beat you, I always find that humour is the best antidote and can pull you through even the darkest of times. You just have to learn to listen to and be kind to your bodyxxxx
I am getting steadily more excited about Sues appearances and just a bit curious as to what she will bring us- hopefully the Hochanda website will be up and running by then or they will miss out on a lot of sales I think!
Hope you enjoy the tail end of your holiday Sue, but we cannot wait to see you grace our screens againxxxx

Love and crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxxxxx

Afternoon Sue
Beautiful. This card would look lovely in my front room. It is just the thing needed to distract from the mess that the boys leave behind every day. It would take pride of place and although I don't dust very often I promise it would take priority over any other housework and I will not allow cobwebs to accumulate as they do everywhere else in the house. (If that doesn't work..........) x

Norah - wholeheartedly agree with your thanks to Sue for her blog. As yet I have not had the pleasure of meeting up with fellow Wilsonettes but This blog is such a Godsend. It's like meeting up with friends for a good 'chinwag' and is such a comforting and heartening part of my day. I really miss 'my friends' when I am having one of my completely 'out of action' episodes. I have to say though that I do think I would give you a run for your money as to who is the most bonkers x

Deb C - nice to have you back. You went away at the wrong time. There was an attempted takeover of BCAS committee members and in the absence of head of security it was a worrying time x

Maureen - or should I call you Miss Havisham? Lol x

Wheely Bad - big gentle hugs x

Lorraine - I can only liken our feelings of hysteria due to the anticipation of new crafty 'toys' to that of a young child on Christmas Eve. That, or we are all two sandwiches short of a picnic. What a shame you don't feel that it is important to make an effort to come to Ally Pally. It's not all about you!!! Lol. Seriously - be lovely to meet you face to face although I don't think a weekend would be long enough to accommodate us talking. Enjoy play time my friend and stay dry x

Molly - have a fabulous time in beautiful Devon x

Maria - 'yeh alright I'll do it later' is a very familiar and regularly used phrase in this house - and not by me. I am hoping to be well enough to make it to Ally Pally - will you be there? x

Beth B - Bless you. Up until four and a half years ago my life was so different. In December 2010 my partner of 21 years passed away very suddenly and unexpectantly. He was 49 and it was my boys that found him in the garden. It was absolutely devastating. Obviously our lives changed dramatically from that moment onwards. Up to this point I had been an incredibly active, on the go working healthy individual who didn't stop. I am not after a sympathy vote, far from it. I now have a very different outlook on life and realise what is important and my priorities have changed. Still trying to deal with being so inactive and unable to do much which is not who I am. Family, good friends and Wilsonettes are such a blessing. What a shame that you won't make it to Ally Pally. I am hoping to make it. Do you think it will be ok for me to gatecrash the 2.30 meeting? Lol. Take care my friend and lets hope in the future we will get to meet x

Susi in Cyprus - hope you are feeling better x

Fluffy cat - Fingers crossed for a better day x

Anyway I am still in my pj's at the moment so off to make myself look a little more presentable. Have a good day everyone.
Crafty hugs
Yvonne

Hi Sue,
I love this one!! I think that the Canadian background is one of my favourites, possibly because my late father was Canadian :). I love the colours you've chosen for today's card and of course, it has my favourite...pins!!! I'm typing with my fingers crossed as I would be so please if I were lucky enough to be chosen to win this week. x

Where do you come up with all these wonderful ideas? The Canadian die is rather difficult to cut, but with your great suggestions from your video I was able to get it. I like the idea of making strips out of it too, this could open up all kinds of possibilities, especially if you have leftover bits. I think using a different color underneath really brings out the delicate design on this one. Nice card!

Hi Sue,
I'm so late and I pinned the card this morning! I was distracted! My husband has been decorating - well painting - the cloakroom! There has been less hassle with the painting of the Forth Bridge! Still it is now a fait accomplis and not bad at all. Don't tell him - he might want to paint somewhere else!
As for Maureen and her multiple aliases - please do not encourage her!
I totally agree - this a a super blog with a super leader and through it I've made lots of real friends, not just virtual ones!!
Oh yes! Distractions R Us today I think!
Today's card is a real beauty and another to try to emulate. Thank ou Sue!
You have been a very busy lady haven't you!!!
Saying no more tonight!
Love to all, Myra xxx
PS Molly - hope you are enjoying your holiday!
