Just Wanted To Say Hello

Good Sunday morning to all!  Just a quick reminder that I am still demonstrating at Ally Pally all day today so the drawings for the card giveaway and the comment game will not be posted until tomorrow!  For today's card, I have a very unisex sort of card.  I started with a piece of sand card and stamped the background with a swirl stamp inked with clear perfect medium.  I dusted it with Angel Gold mica powder for a soft shimmer.  For the next layer, I used the Beaded Fanfare embossing folder and embossed a piece of taupe card.  I used the negative side of the embossing and rubbed it with Snow Cap Adirondack pigment ink to lighten all the raised areas for a faux letterpress effect.  Next I cut a thin frame out of the larger cutting dies of the Classic Adorned Squares and the Ornate Pierced Squares out of taupe card.  I used the Classic Adorned Square die again to create an aperture.  I glued my thin frame to it, then cut the slightly larger edge on the paper cutter, squaring the corners to match.  I used a darker shade of tan and cut the decorative inside area of the Classic Adorned square and recessed it into the frame.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it in a diamond orientation and added a taupe mat behind it.  I completed the card by adding a pierced milk mat, a thin taupe mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  Hope to see you at Ally Pally today!  All for now,  Sue x

Hi Sue. A great card for the chaps. Hope that you're enjoying Ally Pally and that lots of new followers are introducing themselves.
Cheryl - I was so sorry to read about your grandson, my heart goes out to you and my prayers are with you.
Molly - keep posting. Crafting is for everyone, whatever their age and we all learn from each other. Whoever made the spiteful comments on FB cannot be a true follower of Sue's blog, if they were then they would know that Sue allows us to support each other via her blog, and welcomes everyone.
Sorry if I've rambled a bit but I'm still a bit "away with the fairies" after my op - I don't normally take even a paracetamol so the 3 different sorts of pain meds are messing me up. Sue XXX

Morning Sue
Thank you for a very useful and always needed gift for some of our more awkward friends and family who don't like frills and bows etc.

I love your colour palette so calming and serene and although you have stamped your original background it supports your beautiful dies to a T. I have stored this lovely gift in my 'less is more' and 'go to' files. I have a feeling it may be used in the near future.

I hope you enjoyed your first day yesterday and are ready for all your blog family today. I cannot wait to see reports from some who saw you yesterday to say hello.

Hoping for a peaceful Sunday here.
To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue
Yet another gorgeous card, love the background you have done, it is subtle but interesting and looks gorgeous on the close ups. Too often you look at the focal element ( well that's obvious!) but don't look closely at what's behind! It was so lovely meeting up with so many people yesterday and getting to see you demo the northern lights card Sue and sat hello. I took atumble at the front of the building before we went in and had to be patched up by the medics so I looked a real fright but still enjoyed myself. I'm really bruised and sore today, look like I've done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson! But I'm going to take it easy and play with my goodies. Take care love Diane G xx

Hi Sue

Another gorgeous card today.

It was so lovely to see you in person at Ally Pally yesterday. You were so relaxed and seemed to be enjoying the whole experience, and answered any questions in great detail. There were so many people who wanted to say hello (myself included).

I timed things perfectly though as when I got to your demo area there were lots of Wilsonettes surrounding you chatting and laughing. Being a little bit shy, I was trying to work out who people were, when someone asked (Yvonne) if I was a Wilsonette. When I said I was she gave me a sticky badge to wear, which I did wear all day! (It said "I'm a Wilsonette, are you?) This raised a few smiles and questions but that was good. It was lovely to meet people from the blog. I went for a sit down later and chatted a little with Yvonne and Sandra and her husband, who were all really nice and very friendly. I'm sorry for those I did not meet, but I get a bit nervous introducing myself to new people.

I also was very fortunate to win one of the third prizes from the shows draw. I couldn't believe it when I thought I heard my name announced during John Lockwoods demonstration. I had my photo taken with Sue, (thank you to the lady who took one on my camera as well). As always, Sue looked great, but I'm afraid I looked terrible, I get too nervous to smile properly and I looked a mess. Oh well it's a reminder of a lovely day.

Tried to comment yesterday on the journey to Ally Pally on my phone, but it didn't publish.

Very tired today as I had a long journey back to York, then picked my hubby up so didn't get home until gone 9pm. I had left home at 6.15. It was worth it though. I hope all who go today have a great time, and thank you Sue for being so nice to everyone.

Love Helen xx

HELLO Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes (includes you too Molly x x x)

Thank you for sharing such a handsome card, as echoed by others we are always grateful to you for ideas on male cards, & this one is strikingly dramatic which can easily be transformed with embellishments for a female or other event card. The swirl stamp, EF & mica powder has a wonderful effect on the background & lovely to see those elegant Noble dies framed so magnificently in the Classic Adorned aperture. So pleased to read from the comments that AP was an enjoyable success for you yesterday & your Wilsonettes had enjoyed a lovely day, as tiring as it may be I wish you all every success for AP today & a pleasant uneventful journey home x x x

Shock horror my friends when LAINE mentioned that I hadn’t included a funny story & upon looking back I noticed that my comment from yesterday with Anecdote had somehow disappeared (I assure you it wasn’t Risqué & had to be removed – just one of those don’t try this at home stories; Lol)...sorry if you were disappointed ladies I’ll have to include it in a 2nd post; if I can remember it Verbatim.
CHERYL; yesterday when I read of the very sad loss of your Grandson Joe I sent a mammoth basket full of Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to you & your family, hope you receive them today my friend. Losing a loved one, more so at the tender age of 20, is very difficult to comprehend but I sincerely hope that you will find some comfort knowing that my/our thoughts & prayers are always with you, I also warmly wish for you dear Cheryl that one day the happier memories you shared with Joe will mist over the painfully sad memories & help you to smile again. Take care & warm, fuzzy blankets of Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to you & your family too my friend x x x x x

CRAFTYSUETOO; you’re not rambling– that’s my prerogative my friend & I don’t even have to take any meds to help me to ramble; Lol Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to you Sue & warm wishes for a speedy recovery x x x

JUNE S; your picture shows such a beautiful smile; I would be heartbroken if you were to cry my friend, perhaps fate will find a way for you to get to AP in Spring or September 2016. Myself & many others know how you feel so hope you can smile again with this huge basketful of love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) sent your way x x x

MOLLY; I sincerely hope that your Mum & Nan can persuade you to come back to us & just to let you know sweetie that WHEN (& it will be when) you win one of Sue’s magnificent cards, launch die or comment game I for one will be whooping with joy & dancing the merry Irish jig for you. Sue is a wonderfully kind person Molly & deep down she knows that yourself & her dedicated followers are the ones who will always stay with her, free gifts or not, & who truly appreciate & are forever thankful, first & foremost, for the gifts of cards, demos, videos & the exceptional inspiration she graces us with daily on her outstanding blog. The prizes that Sue gives in her big-heartedness & sincere generosity are an added delightful bonus & although slightly envious; Lol, we are always pleased for the winners. One thing though Molly you have seen just how much you are thought of & supported by these wonderful members, so on that note I look forward to reading your comments again soon; as mentioned; when you are ready. (((HUGS))) to you & your family x x x

WHEELYBAD; WindyBad; I really, really, really love it; my eyes are still blurred from the tears of laughter. What a memory for that poor little boy, I reckon he’s going to be telling that story to his own family for a long time to come whenever they break wind or he will break into a smile; wonder if HE will ever come up with the nickname of Miss WindyBad; Lol x x x

Well I must split this post my friends Love ‘n’ (((HUGS)) to you Sue & to all Wilsonettes Beth B x x x

LYNDA; happy to hear that you enjoyed your day; bet your darling little 4-paws missed you. Take care my friend & rest Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) x x x

SABA, just sending you warmest wishes for a lovely sailing holiday to Croatia; take care & enjoy x x x

LORNA; hope the unpacking is going well – wow 2 marble fireplaces is your house old? Good luck & take care x x x

LAINE; I emailed AP to find out the dates for April as hoping that Mr B won’t be working (if so he said he’ll have plenty of time to rearrange his shift) so with that in mind meeting you & anyone who can make the AP show in spring will be phenomenal. Don’t think I would want to go unless a friend from the blog is going & would be happy to meet up. As your journey would be very long & tiring Laine we had an idea...you travel to us, stay here overnight, Mr B takes us to AP on Sat, collects us at end of day, you stay overnight then travel back to Scotland. We have a spare bed & a comfy fold-up if anyone else doesn’t want to make the long journey in one go. I know your probably thinking that this is a very, very strange & ludicrous invitation, after all we only know each other from the blog, but the invitation is there & it is offered purely out of kindness & friendship with no strings attached; Lol & I’d like to think that we are reasonably sane so no worries there. Hope you can go to AP as it will be worth seeing how you are going to get past to Sue without being peppered or sprayed. Lol x x x

Anyways my friends take care to one & all hope you enjoy AP those who are attending today. Love ‘n’ (((HUGS) Beth B x x x

Beautiful card. I struggle with masculine themed cards...love your ideas shown here. Very crisp and clean lines and the colors are nice.

BTW, my Just A Note and Filigree Holly dies arrived and they are beautiful....I've already cut some samples using them and I love them. Actually, I've already finished a card using the Just A Note die and it's off in the mail to a dear sweet person who is sick.

Hi Sue, I like this card. A lot. Very subtle and calming but could easily be dressed up with a bow or two for someone who likes something a bit more frilly.
It seems yesterday went well for all the Wilsonettes that were at Ally Pally (except maybe poor Diane G, hope the pain goes away soon) and I am sure those attending today will have the same great time.

Hello Sue,
Well, yesterday seems to have been a rousing success! Lots of happy people and miserable Bank Managers! Lol.
Today's card is a really lovely one for men or ladies who don't like too many pink frills!
I always think these colours look so rich. Lovely card!
Molly - I hope you come back very very soon because we all miss you!
Anne - my IPad updated itself last week. It took quite a while. It switched off and on again in the process.
If you have no power at all coming through - try pressing and holding the button on the side at the same time as the round button the front. Release your fingers and see if that little Apple turns up!
Please don't tell Saba this - she laughs at my technical skills or lack of them!! Since she is en route to a boat she may not notice! Shhhh!
Love to all , Myra xxxx

Good to know everyone enjoyed AP - poor Diane G, though, hope you're soon better.
Yeah - I forgot my funny story yesterday, so here is one (and it's clean!):
My OH sold an engine from a car to someone who replied to an advert. He was at work when the buyers came, so they removed the engine and went off happy as Larry. OH asks for the money, so I say that they will be returning with it. He OF COURSE was pretty cross with me for being such a ninny, saying that's the last we see of them.
Anyway, a couple of days later he received a letter in the post from Inland Revenue and included was some banknotes - yes, I'd found an old tax envelope and put the money which the men had paid into it and secretly put it through the letterbox when the postman came. I laughed more than he did!! Good trick, or what?

Hello Sue and all Wilsonettes, this is a lovely card and as a lot are saying one for the men,
Well everyone seemed to have had a great time at AP, i will get there one day but living in the North West it would be a long journey and i would probably have to come by train, maybe one day as i said, i didn't get time to comment yesterday but the card and video were superb.
Dianne it must have been a real shock to the system when you fell as well as a shock to your body and your poor face, i have had a number of falls over the years and i know how it feels,i hope you feel better soon.
Molly i am with those who say we are waiting for you to comment, take no notice of snide comments made by anyone you are a crafter and are therefore entitled to comment, give my best wishes to your mum, nanna and grandad, actually i don't live too far from you in Widnes, so come on sweatheart lets hear from you.
Cheryl my heartfelt condolences on the sad loss of your Grandson Joe, it is heartbreaking for you. big hugs to all Johanna

Good evening Sue and the Wilsonette band,
Sue this is a lovely card that you have made today and more what i want to do for those troublesome men that don't like frills and lace. I love the coffee and cream look of this beauty today quite modern without being over the top. THank you Sue for another lovely to inspire us with.
I don't who the horrible person or people that told wee Molly not to blog but they were bang out of order. THis bairn is the future of crafting that will take it way past a lot of our years and we need to encourage the wee ones to participate, not condemn them because they might win a prize supposedly meant for adults. RUBBISH...Sue wants all crafters, no matter what their age or ability might be to join in the fun. Just how mean can anyone be wanting to win so much that they begrudge a wee bairn the chance. Listen the mean, miserable sod or sods that said that, i think the crafting world could do without people like you in it if that's how you treat a "rival". Are you that desperate to win at any cost, no matter whose feelings you trod on to do it? I was fair scunnered yesterday seeing that poor bairns post. Are you scared that maybe she just might be better than you at it. Molly wee darling you come back and tell us your news and i for one will be cheering the first time i see your name up there for all the world to see.
Sorry to all the lovely WIlsonettes that are cheering on this bairn for my rant but i'm just so angry that someone or some people could be so greedy and heartless as to say that to any bairn. Sending hugs to all my angels and wee Molly
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Striking card today Sue. So sad I can't come to this Pally Alley thing everyone keeps mentioning. It sounds a bit like the Scrapbooking, Cards, or Stamping Conventions we have here. They are always so much fun, and I always try to attend the ones in Dallas, TX, not to far away. I told my husband when we retire my bucket list would be to take the RV and travel the whole country following the Convention schedule. In Dallas he always signs up as a volunteer, while I take classes and shop. This keeps him happy doing something other than waiting for me, and they love having a man volunteer for there is always some heavy lifting. He signed up for a few time slots, but they ended up using him all weekend. He is quite the computer, electrical, and mechanical guru, so he was a welcome asset. They even pay the volunteers a little bit, so he earned, and I was gifted almost $250 to spend on craft supplies.
If you're ever in the states, do look up their schedules, as they have the conventions all over the country in most large cities.

There is also The Great American Scrapbook Convention, but my personal favorite is Scrapbook Expo

Hellooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Oh wow! What a wonderful Noble die card! It is gorgeous Sue! Love the swirl background and the lovely rich colours used for the whole card. "Thank you" for the idea for a man's card (too) we always seem to get stuck for ideas instead of same old. I've always wanted the Beaded Fanfare EF as it looks so elegant. "Thank you Sue". I'm so glad that you've all had a wonderful time at Ally Pally. It really is an exciting place to be. Hope to go back next year....:) x Awww Helen, please don't put yourself down. You're unique, be proud of that. I thought it was wonderful that Yvonne gave you an I'm a Wilsonette, are you? sticker badge to wear. Also that you sat with them had a chat. It is daunting when you don't know anyone and you are in awe and don't know what to say. We all go through the same at sometime xx ooooo maybe Sue might be able help you on your name being called xx Cheryl, I'm so so sorry about your grandson...sending mega hugs and love to you at this sad and terrible time xxxxx Dianne, thinking of you from your fall. Sending love and hugs to you xx Molly, please come back to us. You are so so missed sweetheart. We love to hear from you and to find out how your granddad and nanna are doing x All I shall say to you is this, how are all those up and coming crafters of the future, going to get on without you? In this place we have Sue and John, Julia, Debbie and Phill from the Creative Expressions team to give us all this wonderful knowledge so that we can make the same gorgeous cards that they do. They have followed their hearts and are doing what they love and want to do....please please please do the same. Don't let one person, against all of our wonderful Wilsonettes who miss you, come in between the one thing that you love to do. Come back Molly and be a mentor for other girls and boys so that they can do the same for another future generation. That's what is so wonderful about any crafting and creativy, we share and pass on what we knowledge and talent we have to others. xx Love and hugs to you sweetheart, your grandad and your nanna xx Sending love and hugs to you Sue, your mom and your family xx Sending love and hugs too to all our Wilsonettes in need xx Love Karen xx

Good Afternoon lovely Sue and fab Wilsonettes!

I adore the Art Deco feel of today's card, it reminds me of old Hollywood movies from the thirties with Fred and Ginger, bette Davis and Clark Gable and would indeed be perfect for fussy men as well as women who like a simple and classic format.
It would have been perfect for my uncles birthday card, he was born in the thirties and would appreciate the fan tail detailing and ornate features of the recessed squares- I only have the Adorned squares though and I don't have time to buy the missing ingredients before I have to send it:-( Nevermind, he'll get my signature ornate ensemble and embrace his feminine side in the process!
A bit late again unfortunately, I must apologise for my own ramblings but I've had a nocturnal spate of seizures in the last few days and a nasty migraine so my brain is resembling scrambled eggs and making about as much sense at times:-)
I opted out of a day galivanting with my family in favour of Andy in the Davis Cup and some therapeutic colouring so my batteries are beginning to recharge now- apologies if I forget to respond to all the posts from Ally Pally cos my memory is Swiss cheese. I hope that you all had a fab time, it certainly sounds great and that your other halves and bank managers aren't too vexed...my philosophy is you can't take it with you!
Windy Bad, you have been re christened after your hilarious tale-I had a lot of embarrassing situations at school, but as a pupil not a teacher:-) your credibility must have gone out the window along with the offending smell:-)
Diane, you poor soul, just when you are desperate to make an elegant, gracious entrance upon meeting your idol you literally fall flat on your face:-(Bet your ego got more of a bruising thoughxxx
Saba, enjoy your trip to Croatia, it's really beautiful there. I visited the old Yugoslavia ,when I was 17, close to Dubrovnik by bus from Glasgow. It took us about 65 hours to drive there but it was so worth it, the coastline is stunning.
Jan, enjoy playing with your new dies, will you be making a head start on those Christmas cards with your holly die?
Myra&Anne, you are beginning to scare me with all this talk of updating I Pad difficulties- I'm a total technophobe and switching it on is about my limit so I'm hoping this update passes me by otherwise how do I get my daily fix of Sue:-(
Beth, I was worried by your absence yesterday and sad that I missed your embarrassing incident so glad to hear that it was a technical glitch..I have a lot of those...you are the kindest, most generous and lovely lady offering an old reprobate like me a place to stay and company to Ally Pally. I had little or no idea about the logistics of my trip and thought that I would have to drag my Mum along by the hair, quite literally, for the company and now you have offered me a life line:-) it is comforting for me to know that you have paid scant attention to Yvonne's assertions about my questionable character and I give you my promise that I will not embarrass us by acting in appropriately or dribbling in Sues company....as to whether she will need the taser gun well, she's better being safe than sorry....
I can't think of anyone better to visit Ally Pally with and I would love to go with you, you brave, brave lady:-) where do you actually live?
Off to watch X Factor, it's getting critical now! Have a lovely evening girliesxxx

Love and crafty hugs

Hi again,

Sorry to post again but I just wanted to say here here to Norah's words of wisdom- I share your sentiments and anger at the treatment of our delightful Molly and I really hope that the offending individual is utterly ashamed of themselves, picking on a defenceless child, shame on you! This blog has never been about winning prizes...though I do joke about it quite often I actually comment because I want to share my love of Sues work with her and my new friends on her blog. Crafting is a wonderful, enriching hobby that can sometimes be a solitary affair in our own homes, so a blog that keeps you in touch with other crafters has to be celebrated and cherished, not used to frighten and belittle a child! PLEASE come back Molly, Sue accepted you as part of her blog for a reason because you are the future of crafting and it lifts our spirits to see such enthusiasm from someone so young. Be brave sweetheart as we know you are, and start commenting again, we all miss youxxx
Hugs,

Wow Sue,

The stamp is such a gorgeous background and the embossing folder is fabulous.
I had another great day at Ally Pally where you demonstrated the Northern Lights background numerous times. This card has certainly struck a cord with loads of people. But it is so gorgeous and once again you made up my mind - I NEEDED some of the Colour Cloud blending inks (and of course, got them).
And what's more - makes a brilliant one for the men as well.

I have to say Sue, your cards look even more beautiful in "real" life. Wouldn't have thought it possible, but it is.

Hi sue, I for one think today's card could make a very nice male card I lov the colour of the sand card, glad to hear you had a good time at ally pally. Take Care Melody xxxXxxx

I had the chance to see what all the fuss was about with Molly's Facebook message, I can see why she would be upset, she was told to keep off blogs that she had no right to be on, ladies give there time each an every day an her silly little remarks are taking there chances of winning dies/cards/candy. But wht really did is was Molly replied to this person an told her she had no reason to want to take cards away from her because she already had a Sue card in a frame on her wall, an this person came back with well you got your card so now keep off the blog no one wants to hear about your so called sick granddad. Us Real card makers spend a lot of money on our crafts and kids like you shouldn't be taking our chances away of winning a die. Molly answered this person once more by saying I don't need to win dies my nan buys all my dies. An again this person came back with well if you don't need dies an your nan can buy whatever you want maybe she shouldn't be on the blog either. This is what as upset Molly so much because she thought if I seen this it would upset me more than her. She had deleted all the messages but the girl next door to me who goes to school with Molly come an told us everything because she said, Molly was having a sleep over with her last night an told her everything an she managed to get it lol back on Facebook. So today I have sent this person a message of my own but she chose not to answer.

Anyway Molly as been told to take no notice of people on Facebook as it's only the ladies an sue on here that count, Molly as a big heart but also a very soft heart. She will be back she just feels a bit silly right now even though we have told her she as done nothing wrong what so ever.

Thank you all for all the comments left for her today I know it's made her feel very special. An please believe me when I say this if Molly won a card or anything an one of you said oh I really wanted that she would offer it to you, she doesn't want anything other than be a part of something that she knows I am. She as been a big fan of sues for years now an 2 or 3 years ago when I was so unwell in hospital Molly use to email back an forth with sue to let her know how I was doing, an sue sent her a card which is in a frame on her wall, an since then Molly as never looked back she as her own GC an she try's to copy sues cards all the time, an she is getting pretty good at it. For 2 years she kept asking me to ask sue if it was ok for her to start blogging. An she as never been happier since sue said yes. Anyway I have taken enough of your time. Thank you all so much for treating Molly so kindly. An for all the best wishes sent to my husband xxxXxxx

I saw it on you tube a few weeks back and I'm just as enamored with it now as I was then! I know it's not the traditional Christmas colors- but it's so stunning! I love the letterpress technique (but haven't tried it yet) & am really crazy about the mica flakes. When I saw vid b4, I went in search of the marshmallow mica flakes, Joanna Sheen didn't have them but someone did on eBay. However they were $24.99 U.S. That seemed like way too much for a small little jar- so I refrained. I could get a nice big SW die for that price! I'm hoping Joanna Sheen will carry them and that the price will be reasonable because I really do love the color! Anyway, this card is, in my way of thinking, a classic Sue Wilson card and I love everything about it.
Now, on to Sunday's card- wow, it is so classy (and tho very different from Saturday's-it's still signature Sue to me). It's another card that I love, love, love! I think the Beaded Fanfare EF is exquisite! I'm crazy about Art Deco type things. I hope I can get it, as it sounds like it's hard to find. Hopefully it's just temporarily out of stock. I'm slowly collecting the Nobles, but had convinced myself I didn't need the square ones. Wrong!
I started writing this post early Sunday morning, then my phone died. I fell asleep whilst waiting for it to get enough charge to turn on. When I woke up, I had to get going with the business of the day. Now I see Monday's post has shown up already! I'm sure behind.
