Just A Note

Hello there my crafty friends!  I hope that you were able to enjoy my first Hochanda shows this past weekend, I know that I did!  What a busy week with the new die launch and then the Hochanda shows, and Ally Pally on the upcoming weekend!  I am showcasing a card that uses some decorative papers, some stamping and of  course some dies as well!  I selected a tone on tone tan decorative paper from my craft stash.  I the upper corner, I added some stamped swirls radiating outward from the corner.  I was hoping that they would look a bit like butterfly trails so I cut my Majestic Monarch out of black glitter card and attached it in the upper corner.  Opposite to that I cut, assembled and created a focal element using the Perfect Peonies, both the complete petal and the open petal sets.  I cut the base of the flowers in milk card and added a black outline to them and then finished each one with a small black Dazzler for the centres.  I cut the Maidenhair fern in both milk and taupe card and arranged them around my flowers.  I cut three of the Just A Note die in black and stacked them for dimension before gluing them in the middle of the card.  I finished the card with several layers of milk and black card, a pierced layer and then a taupe, black and final milk mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Love the combination of colors on this. Really like the flowers and especially the butterfly with the long tail. Great call, Sue.

This is really special! You've chosen a gorgeous paper to work with and the whole colour palette shouts 'CLASSY'. Wonderful butterfly. I watched several of your demos at the weekend and enjoyed them very much. Definitely fewer interruptions.

Good evening lovely Sue and the Fab Wilsonettes,

What a gorgeous, highly original card to begin our week with. I love the Majestic Monarch it is stunningly intricate, I don't currently own it and I could kick myself every time I see it again- I love how you have stamped the swirls from the tail end of the butterfly, it's a great touch. Note to self...I should really look in my patterned paper stash more often because your results are stunning and a change from the norm. I am so glad I have the peonies now, they are such a useful die and produce breathtaking results.
How are you feeling today Sue? Tired no doubt, but hugely satisfied with your performance I hope, and the performance of some of your hosts such as Alex- I thought she did a brilliant job, she had a real enthusiasm for the products and your demos and she got the balance between selling and allowing you to demonstrate spot on. The selling of the items is an integral part otherwise they wouldn't invite the brand back in the future...and we don't want that to happen! Personally, I think Hochanda should have more competitive pricing, I can get the products cheaper elsewhere with free p&p so they have to be careful not to price themselves out of the market...particularly when The Craft Channel has begun broadcasting. I saw a little bit of it and was impressed with the set, experienced ex QVC presenters and variety- will the CE team be appearing there as well I hope? Anyway, looking forward to more from delightful Sue...you looked beautiful by the way....in a couple of weeks- it will go some way to making up for me not going to Ally Pally this weekend:-(
I've had a frenetic day so far, the electricity went off mid kettle boil at breakfast so we spent the next two hours trying to phone the national grid and our supplier because the neighbours didn't have any problems. A nice chap eventually arrived and flicked a switch, telling us that our kettle had given up the ghost- we felt like a couple of daft women who weren't capable of changing a lightbulb between them! Had my bath etc and then headed in to Stirling to buy a new one. Popped in to see a friend who is a professional framer to get my Mums three cross stitch tigers and lions framed for her birthday. Also getting a fused glass mirror that I created framed too- I used to go to a workshop but it closed down earlier this year due to the recession. It's a pity because I would highly recommend it as a hobby- I have plates, candle holders, coasters, plaques etc in every room now:-)
Sandra, happy anniversary, 24 years is admirable, though it did occur to me that you get less nowadays for murder:-)
Saba, happy birthday, hope you have enjoyed your day thus far, and got plenty of goodies during Sues shows- I heard your email read out which was a nice touch for youxxxx
Molly, never feel that you are writing too much, we love to hear your stories- It really tickled me to hear about your escapades on holiday with your little sister, your Gran has certainly taught you well. Please give your Grandad a big hug for luck from me, I do hope his appointments go well this week..and he goes to the right hospital on the correct day:-) Poor Soulxxx
Yvonne, hope your managing to keep out of trouble dear, and getting plenty of rest before the weekend- make sure you give Sue a big hug from me, though she may feel rather relieved that we haven't joined forces to meet her in person:-) maybe next time after the authorities have been given plenty of warning and the riot police are in attendance! By the way, I have never taken my Mums advice for friendships before and don't intend to start now, though I do think that you should accept that being the elder of the two of us you should be the stabilising force not the instigator:-)
Time to catch up with the soaps, can't miss my daily fix. Have a great night everyone.

Crafty hugs

Helloooooooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Oh wow! Gorgeous card Sue x Love the tan, milk, taupe and black colours together. Also love how you have stamped the swirl and then added the Majestic Butterfly that looks like an extension from the tail. Stunning! I reckon we should call you "Wonder Woman" after everything you have done from Hochanda, which was fantastic. It was lovely to see the fun you had. The first show I missed the presenters name which I now know is Emily! Hope you're going to have a bit of a rest before Ally Pally.....wish I was going again but unfortunately the purse has got some super glue on it...lol! xx "Thank you" Sue for all you have done. Your inspiration, your time, your generosity and last, but no means least, yourself! Sending love and hugs to you Sue, your mom and family xx Sending love and hugs to all Wilsonettes who are need of some too. xx Love Karen xx

This card is gorgeous! How I love the stamped swirls, work so well with the dies. The black really makes this card stand out. I just received 15 dies that I ordered. I cut them out for my die catalog. I cannot believe how the dies leave such a smooth and clean cut. I am already anticipating my next order of dies. Those should be here in a week. Thank you so much for your inspiration and videos.

Evening Sue
Beautiful card. I love butterflies and what could be better than a Sue butterfly. As always every single aspect of this card gels so well to make an absolutely stunning work of art. Love the stamped awirls and the muted colours you have used are wonderful. I always forget to check out my extremely excessive 'stash' of patterned paper. Whenever you make a card to include decorative paper it is a reminder but is very quickly forgotten.
I do hope you've managed to have a bit of recharge the batteries time today. You were fantastic and I am delighted that you will be back again soon. It's all go go go. They say there is no rest for the wicked - what does that say about you Sue - have you a wicked side we haven't seen? I'll ask you about that on Saturday when I see you.
I need to warn you that I can't be held responsible for my star struck behaviour on Saturday. If I appear to act like a giggly school girl I apologise in advance. I feel like I am going to meet a Hollywood A class celebrity. Can I just ask that you tolerate my juvenile outbursts if they happen and try to avoid applying for an injunction against me. Thank you in advance x
Sandra - Happy Anniversary lovely lady. 24 years - so wonderful. When you find your soul mate you just know - hope you've had a lovely day x
Saba - Happy Birthday - did you get anything nice? x
Maria - at the moment all is well - sooooo looking forward to it. See you at 2.30 - thanks hun x
Lorraine - getting into trouble? Moi? I promise I will give Sue a hug for you. I am a little worried for Sue's safety as I think I may be completely overwhelmed when I meet her. I am practising the art of containing my excitement but am apprehensive that if I manage to keep my excitement in then something else may leak out - if you know what I mean! I accept that as the older and far wiser representative in this duo I will not be the one who makes the first move. I will however state that I could never let you participate in any inappropriate activity without a little company. What are friends for? Seriously - have you ever managed a trip to Ally Pally and do you think it will be a possibility in the future? x
Deb C - getting worried - have you gone on holiday again? x
Didn't realise what the time was - was wondering why I was struggling to keep my eyes open. Good night everyone - sleep tight.
Crafty hugs

Hi Sue. Oh WOW !! Todays card is absolutely stunning !!! It is just soooo beautiful !! I love the colour combo you have used and the background paper is really pretty. I love the swirly stamp you have used. It makes your already beautiful Butterfly into a stunning Butterfly !! especially with the black glitter too !! I think the "just a note" sentiment is really sweet. I absolutely adore your Peony flowers and they look so lovely with these two colours together. I love how you have arranged your flower's and ferns in a wonderful corner display. Your Peony dies are very high on my wish list for Alley Palley. I would really love to make my own version of this card. Thank you Sue for more fab inspiration today. Sending you lots of love from Tres x x x

Hi Sue

Very very pretty card, those maidenhead ferns have weedled their way onto my want list now as they set the flowers off beautifully. I saw about half your shows. Mr W enjoyed watching the "whole process" as he put it, think he's an even bigger fan of yours now! I was crafting along in a sense, I was finishing a gift for my stepmum, a bracelet. I have all the shows on the sky box and will sit and watch everything during the week. I'm delighted our friends outside the UK got to watch the shows too. Hopefully, once Hochanda get a foothold in the market hopefully they'll offer international shipping.

Happy anniversary to Sandra and Paul, here's to the next 24 years! Xxx

Rebecca, I'm sorry for your loss, sorry I missed you sharing that too. Sending hugs and support xxx

I had a lovely weekend, with Mr W's family Saturday tea time. We took Billy with us, he was so well behaved- he's always good for Grandma as she has the digestive biscuits! Slept well that night, Sunday tea time was out with Dad, stepmum, my sisters and the partner of the oldest sister. Got home about 8:30pm and flaked. Woke up at 11am for the cleaner and struggled to stay awake, fell asleep when she left just after 1pm until just before 5pm. Just about to put Billy out for his bedtime garden visit so wishing all of you a Terrific Tuesday, sending hugs to you all,

T x

Hi Sue, what a gorgeous card love the colour combo. Watched all your shows that I had recorded an you was great, nice to see you having the time to demo without rushing, must administration wouldn't of brought anything if I hadn't of already had most of what was on there because I thought there prices were a little high than what I had already paid for the dies. But saying that it was still fantastic to watch you on our TV again an will be watching again in 2 weeks. Take Care Melody xxxXxxx

Thank you everyone for the well wishes for Francis xXx

Hello Sue,
Love this card, I often forget to use patterned paper, thank you for reminding me. Brilliant idea to use a swirl stamp with your Butterfly, it so effective. Your shows yesterday were so good. It was lovely to see you getting more time to craft and they read out some emails, was thrilled mine was amongst them and Myra's as well. Hope it was a success for you.

Well I have been out for a lovely meal with my OH and he has given me a little something to spend, no guesses what I'll be buying.

Many many thanks to Maureen, Beth, Jess, Pat L, Helen Bell, Brenda, Lynda, Frances ( fluffyncat) Myra, Mrs B, Maria, Alison, Yvonne, Theresa,Tracey and Lorraine for your birthday wishes they were so very much appreciated. If I missed anyone out I am so sorry. Bless you all.

Love and hugs to everyone

It was lovely to see you for as many shows. I enjoyed all of your lovely demos on Hochanda, I recorded then to see again later too.
I wondered if I could make a couple of suggestions or point out that the cameras often are too far away to see the details of prepared samples especially the white on white cards, the strong studio lights above hide most of the detailed work, I remember a tip from Nigel to tilt the card forward to create a shadow then details of any raised surface or texture, embossing etc show up better.
I also miss the close up shots of what your working on too with the camera looking across the desk, we see things at an angle. Could a closer shot from above be possible? Could you pass on my congratulations to Hochanda on the launch of the channel and my comments or suggestions please.
On a positive note, this card is gorgeous, I love it!
I loved the shows and your new dies are lovely as usual, I'm running out of room to fit all of your beautiful dies in, I have a ever growing collection now, but I'm sure I'll manage to find space for some more somehow.
I'm enjoying the Hochanda shows with the chance to watch you and other talented crafters and artists at work.

Beautiful card, Sue. I was wondering if you would be able to do some YouTubes of the demos you did on Hochanda? Unfortunately I was not able to see some of the shows because of the time difference between there and Canada. Your two hour show was on here at 2 a.m. To 4 a.m.. Loved what I was able to watch though!
