So Grateful For You

Good Sunday morning all!  I decided to reach into my stash of decorative papers for this one.  I selected a tone on tone silvery grey decorative paper and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and coated it with clear micro beads for texture.  I cut two of the Ornamental Corners in white and glued them into opposite corners.  For my focal element, I cut the St. Kitts die in white using the outer and inner cutting edge to create a frame.  I backed it with the same paper as my background, you can see a bit of the pattern through the design.  I added mounting foam to the back of it and cut one more of the Ornamental Corners and added it to the inside of the frame in the bottom.  Since my sentiment did not extend all the way in the frame, the die cut filled it in a bit.  I seated the frame over my stamped sentiment and added it to the centre of the card.  I made a Camellia flower from the Complete petal set and sugared it with Iced Snow.  I seated it on some white tulle and added some Splendid Swirls and Cornflower leaves as embellishments.  I finished the card with my usual pierced layer, then added a thin silver mat and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  7 3/4" in size.

Now for the winners of the weekly Comment Game.  This week's winners are:
Jan on the Fosse!!!
Gloria Robey!!!
Jill Liddle!!!

For the extra qualifying post of Wed. August 19th, the winners are
Barbara Gosden!!!
Janette MacArthur!!!
Jenny H!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue
What a difference a colour scheme can make!
I love today's colour palette and although it's grey it's gentle in appearance and soft whereas some greys can be hard looking.

I also love your format and that you added another corner die to fill-in the bottom of your die. I would love to receive a gift such as this on any day.

We've have got up this morning to a most peculiar looking sky. It's so yellow in colour and rain was thudding down. It has now stopped raining but heaven only knows what the rest of the day is going to be like.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue & Wilsonettes

When completing my craft room, although I kept them, I had some patterned papers in my stash that I thought I would never use, I couldn’t imagine how they would fit into a design, they just didn’t sing out to me; but yet again Sue you have shown us with your attractive today that anything is possible even with the least likeliest; all it takes is our imagination & above all your talented incentive & pure genius guiding us to look beyond that which we already see. Love the micro beads on background they really add a touch of grandeur. It may be a trick of the light but even the charming flower looks as though it has a tint of blue, & if we remove this flower then we have a brilliant male card which I’m sure we are always pretty keen for ideas on, thank you for sharing Sue, as always it is much appreciated x x x

LADIES; congratulations on winning the comment game; hope you get many hours of joy using your generous gifts from Sue x x x

LORRAINE; good to know that you are okay & back with us, no matter what you are going through you hold your head up high & make us laugh; Angelina Jolie indeed; lol according to kiddies in school I’m a definite Dot Cotton (as lovely as she probably is) & they ask if I will fall off my perch soon; that’s another story lol. A gentle hint to you my friend ‘we all care’ wig or no wig,Lol, some may be busy & had not noticed you were missing, others may send thoughts but not in comment; the rest of us well we just sit back & wait to see what renditions of humour you will assail us with, Lol, oh & don’t forget there is a tremendous buzz & excitement in the air with reference to our fabulous four gracing our screens from next week Lol X x x

SUSI; TOB; hope you’re feeling more sprightly today (((HUGS))) x x x

MAUREEN & CHERYL; pleased for you that your selfless & generous fundraising efforts have done you both proud (((HUGS))) x x x

LINDA; welcome to Sue’s fab blog; great to receive you into our Wilsonette family - JAN; Long Island; good to know you are wisely using your coffee mornings to join us; lol REBECCA Colorado; you didn’t put me to sleep neither sweetie & myself & Wilsonette family are looking forward to reading your comments x x x

WHEELY BAD; read your amazing comment yesterday...dreamy;ever thought of writing a book,I’m serious dear friend as you have such a lovely way with words (((HUGS))) x x x

My tooth is feeling much better today thank you so once I have caught up on everything I will be honoured to join you all in your cafes my friends; Danish mmmm & I will email you via your blog soon LYNDA my friend, Thanks to you all (((HUGS))) x x x

Okay I now put a Question to you my friends. Does any Wilsonettes friends who proudly own a doggie four-paws have one that fluffs their pillows up for them? No? Then first let me say, on this one, I’m definitely not two sandwiches short of a picnic, lol Hannah can vouch for that; oh if only she could speak Lol

We have this routine where Lauren & Hannah are on our bed with to start with, I give them their herbal night time biscuit, go & get washed & changed (you didn’t want to hear that part did you, Lol) then when I come back in I give them a night night kiss & cuddles; then Hannah gets up & shuffles my pillows with her head(oddly she never does this to Mr B’s pillows) when she’s satisfied she then gets off & lays down on her doggie bed (minus the fluffing up) to sleep. When we first saw this some time back we thought nothing of it but now having seen it every night we have come to the conclusion that she is actually making the bed for me via the pillows...how cute is that...we all know that animals can do the most amazing things for their owners so this is all the proof you need to know that I’m not barmy...Lol...

Gosh I must close; Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) Sue & to all Wilsonettes family Beth B x x x

Good morning Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes,

It's a glorious day in Stirling, made all the brighter by today's beautiful creation. Lovely to see you dusting off your micro beads again Sue, they create so much texture and interest to a card, and I really must use my patterned cardstock more often because it can create a lovely backdrop. I am one lucky Wilsonette because I have all of these elements in my arsenal so I have no excuse but to recreate this little beauty-all of my family and friends are in awe of my creations, but in have to give you all of the credit because without your endless inspiration my cards would be average at best, so Thankyou Sue for your generosity.
I am undecided as to how to fill my day today after my ritual bath and beauty regime. Do I laze in the sunshine, or do some housework, or maybe be really selfish and do some crafting....or do I go with my brother and nephew to Stirling Castle and McDonalds for the afternoon? Decisions, decisions! Whatever I decide I will be sure to save my pennies because the reality of Sue and her buddies appearing with regularity on tv again has my credit card quivering in anticipation.....and my mum quivering in dread! I, like all of you, are apoplectic with excitement and hope that the emphasis will be squarely on the demonstrations and not the hard sell and presenters.....I wonder if this means that C&C will no longer be featuring CE, I'm greedy, I want it on all of the time!
Beth, you are a sweetheart and say the nicest things, if only my family appreciated my sense of humour but no, it goes down like a lead ballon most days so this lovely blog is a safe outlet for my ramblings:-) you really made me smile with Hannah fluffing up your pillow before bedtime-I don't think your loopy atall, Darcey puts me to bed every night by cuddling next to me and putting her paws in my hand....then, when she thinks that I am asleep, she moves to her spot at the bottom of the bed like clockwork. If this constitutes insanity then all of us animal lovers should be summarily committed!:-) I am so glad you are feeling a bit better, my mums abscess has cleared now too and she can now wear her false teeth again-thank The Lord because she was frightening animals and reducing small children to tears with her toothless grin!
Yvonne my buddy, hope you haven't had a relapse my dear, missed your wicked sense of humour yesterday, come back to us soonxxxx
Big congrats to Sandie and all of this weeks lucky recipients of Sues goodies, hope you have as much fun stalking your Postie as I do...until he got a restraining order on me coming within 20ft of him that is:-)
Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Love and crafty hugs,

Sunday Smiles to you Sue hope all is well.
Just back from market, car unpacked thanks to Mr L, fresh bedding all done, so cup of coffee, painful joints resting and Parti time. What a beautiful card today, I need to remember to use my micro beads more often, they are hiding behind the guilding flakes that's the problem !!
Its a cool subtle card today, very pleasing to the eye and the sentiment comes back to you as alway's.
Wrong move to sit down with my feet up although the 4 paws and Mr L have beaten me to slumberland lol !! So I may just join them when my meds have kicked in.
Sending love n hugs to you Sue, and well done to all winners listed above, enjoy your gift.
Lancashire Steph xxxx

Hello sue an everyone I am back we got our internet back now. Today's card is pretty an I love them little beds nan showed me how to make them turn into other colours an put them in glue in the middle of flowers. I have been back an looked at the cards I missed an they are lol really nice an I have tried to read the comments. Thanks to everyone who been sending kind wishes to my grandad he is still being really sick an not eating very much an dad said they might have to put a feeding peg in him like my nanny as but she don't use hers anymore but he still got it case she needs it. Grandad said no way is he having it he will eat when he wants to an now he as eaten some toast yesterday. Nan told me that someone was writing nasty things about Elizabeth on the blog an I think people are just really nasty because they don't have any real friends. Someone was writing bad things about me on Facebook once an I was really upset but nan said the girl was just sad with nothing better to do with her time. So now I just don't answer her or just say yea whatever an she not bothered for a long time now. I think Elizabeth writes really kind things to people on the blog an she as wrote really kind things to me about my grandad.so don't worry about what stupid people who are sad writes they are childish an just waste there time. Thank you everyone Molly oxoxox

Dear Sue
What a beautiful and classy card this is. The gentle silver and white colour palette could be used for so many occasions I'm thinking it could be used for both a wedding or a sympathy card.
Love this card.

Very pretty. Almost a monochromatic look. I'm going to have to try the glass beads sometime as they really add a nice texture.

Hi Sue,

Beautiful, I love your "stash of backing papers" cards. Reminds me to use what I have instead of lusting over new (but a bit of new stash every now and again does you good...). I lovea shades of silvery greys, especially if there is a hint of silver there too. Watching a TV show and they are live in California! They're in Monterey Bay and the programme is about see life. First thing I thought about when they said where they are was "Sue and Mom"!

Molly, glad you're back but sorry Grandad is still feeling sick. Glad he got a piece of toast down him though. Hoping for all I'm worth this sickness is temporary and as his body gets used to the treatment he is able to feel better. Sending hugs to all of you xxxx

Lorraine, gald you're ok xxxx

Beth, that's very sweet of you to say (hugs), my mind works quicker and better than my fingers so I have to go back and correct all my typing mistakes. I do use VR but I end up having to go back through and add punctuation if I use it on a mobile device, the dragon in my laptop does it better! I try to leave VR for when I really can't type. As for they way I do it, my early life shaped much of it but that's too long a story. I suppose because I like to draw I feel the need to paint a picture with words. Words and language do intererst me, I'm fascinated by dialect (from all over the UK, not just my own) and the social history that surrounds it. My brothers used call me the "Grammar Nazi" but if my Mum and I hadn't instilled the importance of being able to learn and use language properly would the youngest be doing a degree now?

Odd day here, sunny Suffolk until lunchtime then very grey and wet. Now have a breaking sky that is steadily getting darker as the sun sets. Spent most of it horizontal but two entertaining football games on TV this afternoon and a roast dinner this evening made sure it wasn't bad.

On that note I shall say goodbye for now. Sending hugs to Sue, Mom and Wilsonettes everywhere, extra hugs as always fir those of you who need them. May your glue stocks be plentiful and your dies cut first time. Wishing you all a beautiful new week...

T x

Hi Sue
What a beautiful card, it has a soft, gentle look to it which I love. Very impressed with your "filling in" behind the frame, it opens up so many more possibilities for using smaller sentiments.
I am back home in Germany now and just hope I can receive the new craft channel, fingers, toes, and everything else crossed it will be broadcast on the European satellite beam.

Congratulations to all the lucky winners, enjoy your prize.

Good Eveing Sue
Great minds think alike. I haven't used my micro beads for ages and have very recently dusted them off ready for my Christmas cards.
The card is stunning. Grey can be a little dull but you have shown that using other elements really lifts everything. Very clever.

Hi Sue,
Beautiful card and nice to see the micro beads congratulations to the winners - enjoy your prizes.
Been a nice day here in Durham but now pouring down again. My poor hanging baskets took a real battering in the storm last night.
Beth, lovely to hear that Hannah is looking after her mam.Scamp comes to bed with me every night and usually sits on my head while I am reading! If I pretend to be asleep, she pats me on the face with her paw the only downside is if I don't wake up she puts her claws In my cheek to make sure I give her a cuddle!!! Every morning she jumps on the bed for a cuddle and as soon as I'm up, she takes my place in bed! She doesn't bother with Dave though for some reason. As I'm typing this she is waiting to go to bed - aren't they funny?
Molly, pleased your grandad has managed to have some toast - give him my best wishes.
Love and hugs to all, Alison xxx

Molly- you are a very strong and sensible girl, look
after yourself and hugs to yours. Sorry granddad is still
so ill but good he managed some toast.

Beth- how sweet is that, she is making sure you
will have a good night. A fluffy pillow is important! :-)

glue dots. However when I bought them I wasn't really making
cards as such so I now found quite a few have dried up,ooops.
Memo to myself. do not buy before it's needed, tick

They are fantastic Sue !! I really want/need the Ornamental Corner dies now too !! I also absolutely love the flower you have created on your card along with your beautiful Splendid Swirls Dies. I really like this card oh wait I said that before. I am watching your old videos and have just finished 2014. Will start on 2013 tonight. I am so thankful for you and your amazing talent. It does inspire me I have started making cards again. They are hard to do since my surgery. I am improving and find it is good therapy. Thank you for that also.

Lovely card!! Love the addition of the beads to the background. I am curious what kind of adhesive you used to attach the corner pieces to the beads. I have to sign anonymously since google won't recognize my password anymore.

Wonderful elegance of the grays. Fabulous frame backed with the same paper to match BG. Lovely addition of the ornamental corners that add so much interest. My fave part about this beauty is the texture you've given it with the micro beads. Fantastic detailing!
