Christmas Double Day

Hello there my crafty blog friends!  I am showing off my Christmas 2015 Angel first off today.  This is one of those really simple cards, doesn't need any sort of detailed explanations, but I'll run through it so you have the names of the products I have used.  I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card with the Illusion Embossing folder.  It isn't a Christmas embossing folder per se, but it does remind me of snowflake swirls so I thought it would work nicely!  Next I used the smaller outside cutting edge from the Ornate Pierced Rectangle Noble die to cut an aperture out of a piece of silver card.  I used both of the cutting edges to cut a thin frame out of Sky Blue card and glued it to the silver aperture to create an edged frame.  I added mounting foam to it so that it was raised over my embossed background.  I cut the Christmas Angel out of the same silver card and added her to the centre of the frame.  I used the Peace word from the Dove of Peace die set and cut it in blue.  Lastly, I cut an assortment of the twinkle stars from the Angel set in both silver and blue and scattered them around her.  I completed the card with a white pierced mat, a thin blue and silver mat and another wider white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two actually made it's debut  recently during the mini Christmas die blog launch, but I thought you might enjoy a closer look at it with some walk through directions too of course!  I started by using the Lattice mask on a piece of coconut white and pulling Polar White Sparkle Texture paste through it and allowing it to dry.  I added another small piece of card to the bottom area and a very thin piece of red card to separate it.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the snowflake tag, then spray it with permanent spray adhesive and glittered it with Diamond Snow.  I added the tag to the bottom of the card with mounting foam.  For the focal element, I picked out two shades of green card (from my stash) and cut multiple Filigree Holly dies.  I arranged them in the shape of a wreath using glue dots, then when I was happy with the shape, I added a bit of Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue under the back edges of each of them, allowing the tips to remain unattached.  I added some red berries using the berry die cut then added Berry Sparkle PVA glue to them and allowing them to dry.  I completed the card with a simple white on white mat layer.   The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 1/2" in size.

Two very nice cards today, Sue, can't pick a favourite but do like the Illusion EF.
John did brilliantly last night (when I finally got the right viewing time!) just hope they can sort out the wee problems and website soon. Nice to see full demos with little interruption, but have a feeling that selective viewing (in other words Creative Expressions) - as on C&C - will be the order of the day.

Morning Sue
Where are the weeks going. It doesn't seem two minutes since last Friday and here we are again with a beautiful double day of Seasonal gifts.

Both of today's offerings are delicate, gentle, and so beautiful that I wouldn't be disappointed if either of them dropped onto my doormat. Of course Angels always win and Holly Wreaths are so Christmassy and traditional. I just cannot choose a favourite between them.

Well it's our last visit to the market today. I just cannot believe we're at the end of our 11weeks here so the weekend for me will be housework and packing.

To all in pain and suffering today I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe this Bank Holiday weekend. See you tomorrow.

Good Morning Sue,
Both cards are lovely, I think I like the Angel the most.
Probably because I'm thinking of my own Angel my son would have been 41 today he lived 18 days. Strange you cope fine every day then this day comes and even after all these years the loss is still so overwhelming.
I will have to shake the mood off, throw myself into crafting today, always my therapy.

Two gorgeous cards today, both are special in their own right and I'm certain that anyone would treasure them if they dropped through their letter box. If I was forced to choose, I would choose the holly wreath - I think it's because of the colours. Thank you for the step by steps for them. Love and hugs to everyone and hope that you all have as good a day as possible. Love Alison xx

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes

Two very gorgeous cards Sue & very ideal for the ones you need to send in the post, although they are far from being simple ones. I’d say that the designs have a very bold statement without the need for the fabulous embellishments that I so love on your cards. I have the illusions EF but never would have thought to incorporate it into a Christmas design. Thank you Sue for the fabulous EF idea & for the inspiration that seems to come so naturally for you. You have helped me to look at each die in a different way to see how else I could use it. X x x

I am writing this in word in the hope that my BT Hub will stop flashing red & allow me copy, paste & to post this, being flashing red since yesterday...BT said that due to the sheer number of people connecting to their internet & remaining on there for the Hochanda channel it had slowed everything down but at least it wasn’t a technical problem... I don’t think even the Internet providers were prepared for the sheer volume of people connecting up to watch Hochanda etc. I did housework first yesterday to catch up, and then I was going to read comments, write my own, and then settle down to watch our Fabulous John last night. Didn’t quite work out that way.

The one thing I really enjoyed when watching John was the fact that interruptions were very few & he got the chance to demonstrate in his fantastic workshop mode...so many brilliant hints & tips, I learned so much from you so thank you John, I will be watching & or recording the rest of your shows. There were some mild technical hitches which is what you would expect with something new being launched but I think the presenters & demonstrators handled it with grace & just carried on regardless.

MOLLY sweetie...I was moved to tears by what you had written yesterday & my heart aches for yourself & your family but I was also very moved that you are there for your Nan & Granddad in any way that you can; losing his hair is like a grieving process for him; first the tears, then the why, then the acceptance. Making a card for him was a beautiful thing to do & although he had tears when he read it your Nan was right he would have cried for the loss of his hair & he would also have cried with joy that his loving, caring granddaughter was so thoughtful in making him that card.

If you haven’t already would your family be happy for you to talk to someone from Macmillan...the nurses are wonderful, they are there for the family, they are wonderful listeners & could help you to understand...I know that you have your Nan & your family but sometimes talking to someone neutral helps you to spill it all out. Molly, Melody & Family you are all in my prayers every day. Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) x x x x x

Well my friends I am going to dash this off as I have blue light on Hub; took long time to get it & a long time to get this far so can’t waste it.

Sending love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to you Sue, your family & of course to all our Wilsonette friends Beth B x x x

Spread Your "Polar White Sparkle Texture Paste" Through This Leaves A Tremendous
Impression Which I Just Love Fabulous Dies The Filligree Holly Die And Snowflake Tag
Where You've Added Diamond Snow To Your Sentiment, Then Used The Stunning
Berry PVA Sparkle Glue This Product Is Just Fabulous.

Hi Sue,

Two lovely cards - the second one is my favourite this week as I'm a sucker for Christmas wreaths - I made several cards last year using your holly spray dies...

Watched the Hochanda launch and John's show last night, not impressed with the fuzzy picture quality or the sound and they're going to have to do something to bring us better close-ups...and their "Freedom Club" is far too expensive at £7 per month...that works out at £84 per year!..you'd have to spend like crazy to take advantage of the free postage...

Saba - thanks for that feedback...I saw Paul Wright on the launch shaw chatting to Barbara Grey, more or less confirming what you'd said...

Hi Sue

I love wreaths so card two just edges it though they are both beautiful. I really do need to play with that texture paste I brought as its so pretty and sparkly. Have been watching John and it was lovely to see the whole construction, start to finish, John always explains things so clearly, and I think he has blossomed under your wing. Next stop is his blog to congratulate him on a job well done. I didn't order as I like to shop online so I can keep track of how much I'm spending and pick out what I need. I did a vitual spend to see if I could be trusted with a call centre buy and oh dear... no, I can't be trusted to keep track! Got opticians tomorrow so if I don't need new glasses again (last lot 6 months ago) I might buy a die or two to celebrate!

Molly, you really are a most amazing young lady. I caught up with yesterdays posts and saw your post about your poor grandad. When he got that card I reckon he realised how grown up you are to notice how upset he felt. I agree with the other Ladies about Macmillan, they looked after some of my friends. They are lovely to talk to. I don't know if you're going to a new School in September or not, if it's the same school I do think it'd help you if there's an adult you trust to at least know what is going on, if it's a new school I know that there are systems in place so that young people who need a friendly ear can get one. There are also young carers groups all over the UK, my brothers used to go as they helped me and our Dad. It's a chance to talk to others your age who also help their families out doing the things that their families find difficult. Your school would know where your nearest group was if you and your parents felt it was something you'd like to explore, you're doing a grand job Molly but don't hold it in if you need to talk to someone.

My brother used to put the bin out for me too. I was so, so grateful as it was something that I really needed help with even if others didn't think it was much of a big deal- it was very much a big deal to me, cos my kitchen would really pong if he didn't do that!

Give Nanna & Grandad a hug from Billy and me and take two hugs for yourself xxx

Theresa W, glad you're getting to grips with the letterpress :-)

Sorry I've been absent. Between my usual happenings and dealing with people employed to deliver adaptations when they clearly are clueless it's all been a bit much. I'm so tired I might actually sleep tonight!

Hugs to Sue, Mom and all Wilsonettes, have a great weekend!

T x

London hospital an won't be home to late tonight but I no she would really like today's cards an I think she would like the 2nd one best. Good Afternoon Sue and the lovely Wilsonettes!

Wow! I just love double day Fridays, even though I haven't even considered getting out my Christmas do dahs it gives me plenty of inspiration for when I do. Where are the weeks going to though, it's getting scarily closer so I'd better get a shift on and stop dawdling-it's a case of too many birthdays not enough time!
It's always a challenge to pick which masterpiece is my favourite but I think that the wreath, just because of the colours, gets my vote though they are both stunning. I really like this years angel, she will be my next investment for sure because she is such value for money.
I have been watching some of Johns shows and his professionalism and presenting skills have improved beyond measure, you have found a little diamond there Sue, and his enthusiasm for your products almost matches mine:-)
Hochanda are steadily improving but they really need to get their website up and running because many of us prefer to browse and buy online rather than phoning in. I know that you will be appearing on the 12th of Sept but does that mean that you will never be on C&C again....I'm greedy, I want it all!
Not much time for crafting today, had my hair dyed because I was beginning to get my natural brown peeking through instead of my preferred violet brown- I sometimes wonder if I have a lot of grey hairs now but I never intend to find out-I've been dying my hair since I was 11 and the thought of growing old gracefully fills me with horror!
Though, in light of what Melody and Molly are going through, these fripperies seem trivial. I agree that the Macmillan nurses would provide invaluable support to your family- my Aunt Pat had an inoperable brain tumour and they nursed her at home in her final couple of months and were a godsend to my uncle. They could provide counselling as well as practical help to take some of the burden away from you all. I worry that you may not have anyone outwith the immediate family to confide in, that could be crucial in helping you through this difficult time. Starting school again and being around your friends will help I am sure, but please know that we are all thinking of you both, and Francis, at this timexxxx
Yvonne, you sound like your suffering dear, I hope you regain your strength soon-sleep is definitely the best medicine!
Theresa, I am suitably convinced of your reliability-getting a Sue original is a lifetime commitment that cannot be taken lightly and I can tell that you will take your role seriously...how will your hubby feel about being relegated to the spare room when you give our little treasure the care and attention required throughout the night?:-)
Love and healing hugs to everyone in need of a bit of TLCXXXXX

CRAFTY HUGS AND KISSES,

Laine1972xxxxxx

Love both cards today Sue, which are both fab.

I did buy the holly leaf set and after cutting out several of the single leaves I only have one request.

When you are thinking about new sets of dies to create, could you think about making a whole page of single leaves? It would be so much better to cut out a whole bunch of leaves rather than cutting them out one or two at a time.

Maybe a page of mixed sizes or at least leaves in two sizes on a page - or whatever it is the die equivalent of a page is ????

That gives scope for selling a lot more dies to us busy crafters, doesn't it?

lots of love and craftihappiness everyone.

Hello Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes!
I'm behind on the blog a bit. I'm afraid most of my vacation has been spent tending to the tedious (bill paying, budget making, making those phone calls I'm not able to make while working- you know the ones where you need to have something corrected or a ? Answered or tech support and u get "press 1 for this, press 2 for that etc"? Inevitably, what I need is either the last one on the list - or not on the list at all. Can't someone just answer the phone & talk to me? Anyway it's made me a bit cranky because it has kept me from doing what I want...which is to craft. But in the scheme of things, it's just an annoyance - nothing compared to the heartache and pain some of you all are going through. So hugs to all who need one!
Both cards are stellar (no pun intended regarding the angel :) I think the holly wreath wins for me tho just because I love the delicacy of the leaves. That said I would be giddy if either showed up in my mailbox at the holidays!
Oh have mercy- a couple of you ladies suggested I try the Joanna Sheen website since I have trouble finding SW dies here in the states...as I mentioned, I had briefly looked at it when I first read the blog, but thought it might be too confusing or take too long ordering overseas. I also assumed (silly me) that I would be able to find everything here in the good ole US of A. Now I know better about finding the dies here and since you were kind enough to mention it, I checked it out again. Going to the online site and seeing the availability of the dies was a little bit like stepping into the light and hearing an angelic chorus all around me! I was ecstatic! I started throwing things in my cart like the madwoman I am, then I gathered my senses and removed quite a lot

Oh for heavens sake! Perhaps my iPhone is (not so politely) telling me to stop being so long winded! It wouldn't let me type another character on my previous post. So I'll continue on a second post (obviously, hint not taken IPhone, lol). I removed items from my cart (probably not enough - hence the budgeting I spoke of earlier) and placed an order. The prices (yes figuring out the conversion was not at all complicated) were very good - and free shipping! We'll see how long it takes to arrive, but I'm sooooo excited! So Jan in Florida - check it out if you are still having trouble sourcing SW dies! Most of my previous SW purchases were through eBay (locals don't carry large selection) and several of those were purchased from the UK. Whoever that seller was made a huge profit because I compared them to Joanna Sheen's prices and I got "taken" on those previous purchases. Oh well , lesson learned! So thanks ladies for telling me about Joanna Sheen! I ordered a couple of the Noble dies and an ef and some diamond snow...so eager for their arrival!
I don't get Hochanda here and haven't had any luck with the website as yet, but seems overall the launch went ok. So tell me, who is this "John" and does he have a blog? Dare I ask or will it be something else that keeps me up too late? Lol. My phone is causing difficulties again so I better sign out before everything I typed disappears again - I think I read someone else was having problems with posting from iPhone? Anyway, Ta Ta for now! Thanks for sharing your talent Sue! Thanks for the comradery (however that is spelled) Wilsonettes! Rebecca in Colorado

I love the way you have framed out the angel, it really makes her pop just enough. What a great eye you have for getting the best from a die!
