Gilded High-Low technique

Hi bloggers!  Here's another way to do my High/low technique.  Use Gilding Flakes for the "low"  and Diamond Sprinkles for the "High" and you will have some beautiful texture for your card.

The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue
A very elegant and regal way to start the day.
I love gilding flakes and but only use them on special cards.

Today's format is nearly on the lines of less is more for me and because of that the star of today's gift are the gilding flakes themselves. I never tire of the different effects you get every time. Each and every one are unique patterns and are just glorious.

We have a dull morning here to start the day and thankfully the temps are staying in the lower 20s so it's so much better for all.

Off to do a little top up shopping this morning and who knows what the rest of the day will bring.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Oh wow. This is such an opulent offering. Loving the lattice and gilding flakes. Absolutely stunning. I can imagine that the whole look and mood of the card could be changed with the use of different coloured gilding flakes and even different mediums.
Thank you for this magnificent offering of inspiration x

I will look forward to watching the video this evening when I have returned from my Spa afternoon - not that I'm trying to rub it in!

Beth - if you're really nice to me I will allow you to be deputy chair. I need someone trustworthy and who will be incredibly easy to manipulate so I can get my own way! Don't you worry about your lack of experience in bribery, corruption and underhanded tactics. Watch and learn girl. Don't know if you are planning to go to Ally Pally but if we do make it then perhaps we could have our first AGM. Further instructions will follow. Hope you're feeling brighter after your fight with the Rain Forest over the weekend. If you want a job doing well you need to do it yourself x

Deb C - they just drive you mad don't they but as their Mothers we have to love them. Hope all is good with your sister in law. Love to her, you and yours x

Theresa W - can you imagine a spa full of Wisonettes? What a thought. Do you think that the world is ready for that? We get a free glass of bubbly so I'll think of you x

Lorraine - I have no problem with a dictatorship as long as I am the dictator. Had my e mail yesterday to say my order has left the warehouse. I bet it is delivered when I'm out this afternoon. That may be best as came beforehand then I may be too distracted to leave the house x

Maria - it is very tiring being in charge of such a prestigious organisation so I do feel like a little pampering is in order x

Magpie - think you've made the right decision. Any thoughts of extreme measures must go through me. Kidnapping is not actually on the agenda as yet but if all else fails it could be a possibility x

Ok lovely people - busy day of pampering ensues so must off and prepare.
Have a Tranquil Tuesday - I know I will!

Hi sue and lovely wilsonettes x
A beautiful card today sue x the effect of the lattice mask and guilding flakes is stunning x I remember having the flakes in my stash unopened for ages I was so scared to use them as I get so worried trying new techniques ,don't know why must be a confidence thing , then I saw you demo them at ally pally and tried them the next day . I sat at my desk all set up staring at them for ages ! Then I heard your encouraging words you had given me the day before and went for it ! Don't know what I was worried about !!! The results were fantastic I was so proud of myself x so every time I get a wobble now I remember the guilding flakes moment and hear your encouraging words x I know all that may sound really silly to most but thankyou so much sue for giving me a bit of confidence in myself x

Good morning Sue and her Wilsonette lovelies!

Wow, what a beautifully rich and opulent offering-I haven't watched the video yet, but it appears to be a mask rather than a die cut used for the gilding effect, I am sure that I have seen it on Julia's website yesterday when I was looking for some masks and texture paste.
I love gilding flakes- almost as much as Brodie, who is very metro sexual for a male cat, he thinks that the flakes peppered through his fur complement his eyes! He has been trying to make budded flowers again, I keep finding camellias dotted around the house so the next step is to teach him how to open the cosmic shimmer glue-it is true what they say, cats are only one digit away from world domination!
Saba, I haven't exploded yet, but if the postie doesn't arrive before my hospital appointment this afternoon who knows the mess that I will create-my mum has the Hoover on standby!:-)
Yvonne, I am disappointed that you have chosen to invite other members into your sect before my appointment! With my obvious credentials-I have already been a winner of the weekly comment game-I can offer invaluable experience and expertise on a level that far surpasses my rivals......perhaps you feel threatened by my superiority?:-) Enjoy your spa day however, it could be the taste of things to come if you offer me JOINT leadership of your budding enterprise, you too could have cheekbones that can cut paper at 10 paces if you stick with me!
Beth, you may have been offered a place on the board of BCAS ahead of me but I am big enough to put aside my disappointment to offer you some friendly advice-whilst I admire your gumption at not letting the rising damp defeat you, though think of your poor fingers&hands and leave the hard labour to Mr B in the future(carefully supervised of course!) wishing you a speedy recovery and love and hugs to little Lauren from me and my babies.
Well, off to get ready for my hospital visit, here's hoping from a predictably soggy Stirling that the sun is shining wherever you may be#whatnosummer!

Love and crafty hugs,

Good afternoon Sue & lovely ladies
Ooh that's nice trippd off the tongue when I opened up the blog, this card is gorgeous, the guilding flakes are so rich and contrast beautifully with the diamond sprinkles. Must watch and find our more about this card! Thank you Sue for sharing all your knowledge and helping us to become more creative crafters. So excited to hear my C&C order has left the warehouse today!!!
Beth, I hope you get your craft room sorted out, it must be awful having the dreaded black mould back, hope you don't need to get a specialist in. Hope you've recovered from all your hard work in the garden, sending hugs x
Alimecca, the weather's been rubbish here too, got caught in a downpour today and got soaked, that's 3 times in the last 2 days with taking Suzie out for her walk, it's OK when we set off but then.....we come back looking like drowned rats lol. Lorraine, just picturing your pretty glittery cats, aw cute x Hope everything goes well at hospital x
Saba, originally a Cheshire girl (well till I was 8), but with a Mancunian accent, when we moved to Bolton the kids used to say I talked posh even though I wouldn't sound out of place on Corrie, never did pick up the Bolton twang. I won't hold your Yorkshire roots against you either lol.
Thank you Lynda for your kind thoughts and you kind words on Pinterest too, sending hugs x
Ooh Yvonne, a spa, I could do with one of those, you lucky girl. I see your plans for world domination are on hold for just a day but a girl needs a bit of papmering now and then. Just to add that I have military training if you need that sort of thing for BCAS.
You lucky girl too Sandra, I'm still waiting for my delivery and sadly it won't include the new card, I was at work during the first show and just missed out.
Just in from work now so going to have a brew and watch.
Hugs & blessings to everyone - Deb C xx

Yvonne, Beth, Lorraine- the talk of your 'secret' association is highly entertaining!!!
Lorraine, Alison- your cats and Billy would start a club for pets whose lives have been severly affected but gilding flakes, glitter, ice snow and the like. One Christmas after a particularly severe glitter explosion we were finding it in Billys fur for a fortnight after, the gilding flakes left him with little silver bits stuck to his fur. He has had those foampads stuck to his paws and fur too on occasion. At the age of six he now knows the best place for him when I'm crafting is the other side of the door frame to where I am!

Must go, tea will be ready soon. Mr W's birthday tomorrow so I may not get time to comment. Sending two days' worth of hugs to everyone just in case!

Love this card and have enjoyed watching the video explaining how you made it. Unfortunately I am not so neat with the gilding flakes as you are.

Any card with guilding flakes can't fail to impress but adding your diamond sprinkles is a touch of real opulence. Definitely a technique l must try.

Hi Sue,
Love this effect, never tire of seeing the result. I also have a very crafty cat who whenever a parcel arrives can't wait to get inside and see if he can help. He is often curled up covered in glitter and the odd sticky pad on top of whatever it is I want to work on!!🐈
Hope we get some better weather soon!☔️☔️

Fantastic video and a gorgeous card.
Have not tried this technique yet but you have inspired me to have a go.
I have just paid a visit to Stampers Grove in Edinburgh and the first thing I bought was the Rubit Scrubit pad along with a few tubs of gilding flakes.
Didn't get the new foundation card from C&C as it sold out but got it so much cheaper and p&p free from a crafter on facebook who sells all your fabulous products.

Hi Sue. WOW !! This is a gorgeous card today !! I love it all !! The gilding flakes look great with the white glitter (sorry but I can't remember its name already !!) The mask is lovely. I will have to look out for this one. I don't have any of the dies you have used !! But I can try with other ones I do have instead. I have many dies on my huge wish list and I am now trying to save for the next Alley Palley show. Thank you for sharing another fab video and gorgeous card today. The card is stunning Sue. Stunning card. Love the gilding flakes. Can't watch the video for a couple of days as I'm not at home so I'm grateful to Anne Crawford for saying early on that you had used a mask. I thought I'd missed a lattice die being released.
Take care everyone.

Hi Sue & Wilsonettes

Thank you Sue for such an informative video...I had tried using the gilding flakes & I must admit I don't know why I waited so long to do so...they really are fun to work with & my Border Collie Hannah thinks so too...Altogether a lovely technique on a gorgeous card that again can be for those difficult male cards but dressed up for female cards...thank you as always Sue for your wonderful inspiration in both the card & video...

Take care to one & all Love 'n' (((((HUGS))))) Beth B x x x
