Hi there crafters! I' ve got a new sample to share showing the Cordoba die set from my Spanish Collection for today's post. I am quite taken with this one myself. I have done a variation on my high-low technique but using the die instead of a mask. I covered a piece of black card with a sticky adhesive sheet. I ran it through one pass only of the machine as the key here is not cut the entire shape. Now I have noticed recently the difference in machines when doing this technique. Sometimes it will cut out completely in places and sometimes it won't. If it does cut all the way through both the card and sticky sheet first time, just place some tape across the back of it to hold it in place and remove it from the die. Using a pokey tool, carefully peel back the backing paper from the various parts of the die cut revealing the pattern that you would have seen if it had cut all the way through. Once they are all removed, cover those areas with gilding flakes. I used the Mulled Wine gilding flakes here. Once they have been completely refined to remove any excess (I use a piece of rubit scrubit pad to do this with), dust away any left over bit, then carefully peel up the remaining piece of backing paper. I used Iced Snow for my "high" parts on this project (you can also use micro beads) Burnish them in well and remove the excess. I used the edge of the die cut area and hand cut around it to remove the finished piece. I mounted it with foam on a piece of white card on which I had already scored vertical lines on the bottom portion. I stamped my sentiment on white card and cut it out with the tag from the Spanish Collection. I highlighted it with a light inking of Black Soot before removing it from the die. I cut two more, one in black and one in gold and cut them in half to use as shadows behind the sentiment. I created a ruched border out of some pretty velvet ribbon that I had in my stash. I finished the border with a black messy bow, some jute twine and a gold satin ribbon rose. I completed the card with a black swirl and matted the card with some more black and gold card for balance before adding my double white pierced mat layers. Finished dimensions are 8" x 8 1/4" in size. All for now, Sue x

I just Love Gilding Flakes and your Iced Snow together, I Love the shape of the Tag from the Spanish Collection, and the Fabulous Gold Rose, I also Love how you have put your Velvet Ribbon on your Card and the way you've scored the bottom half then placed Beautiful Black Swirls to Finish of your Card. GM Sue - love this - could be a masculine card I am thinking. Not seen the mulled wine gilding flakes before - must keep an eye out for those. Love that die shape - another for that wish list! Fogggy start here today but at least we had a dry sunny day yday - not used to those but more rain forecast again for this week - it just wont stop it seems, not just yet anyway.

Good morning Sue
Your card actually looks like a piece of Spanish lace it's beautiful. My son has bought me the Valencia die and the set with the tag and I'm waiting for it to arrive. You have such an eye for detail I wish I had a small bit of your talent. The gold rose and velvet ribbon finishes it off perfectly. You know I would more than likely use micro beads if I did this but I love what you've done with the iced snow. I bet you were busy at stitches and had loads of orders, now is the time for you to relax. I'm fine Sam and just waiting for results thank you for asking.
Hugs x

Morning Sue, A really beautiful card, rich and decadent in colour and the high/low technique really shows off the gorgeous die-cut. A pretty rose, bow and ruched ribbon complete this 'work of Art'.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Hi Sue,
Loving the mulled wine gilding flakes - I've never seen them before. Like the techniques and the overall effect of the card but it's just a bit too dark for me - sorry. Love Alison xxx

Morning Sue. Morning Wilsonettes. What a wet gloomey start to your 2nd day at Birmingam. But with your warm friendly smile and endearing ways the NEC will soon light up. What a treat the traders are in for that visit your stand today. Im sure the orders will flood in.
When Im not so stressed and fed up I must put that brilliant idea in place that I read yesterday, Im sorry I cant remember the name, but to make a folder of die shapes from scrap paper is such a brilliant idea, so I'll take that idea if you have no objections !
Wishing my lovely ladies a happy day, and Cameel - your doing a magnificant job ready for your M.O.T.G outfit : ) intregued though how you can disguise Bahamas for Bogna !!! Tina, hope you and 4 paws are still enjoying a full night sleep.
GOOD LUCK today Sue.

Interesting card Sue.
This is a very glamorous and sultry card Sue. Quite dashing indeed. The close ups show the effects really well.
Morning Sue, this card is so rich and opulent, I think it is amazing. It looks like a piece of very thick expensive material. Hope the show is doing well for you, I am more than sure your dies are the star of the show. Don't work to hard.

Hi Sue

Sam Smithard, SPINNING is an excellent way to burn some calories and relieve stress. The workout employs a stationary bike, which has various tension levels. The bike will also track your progress, so that you are motivated to continue and accomplish your fitness goals. I do it to Burn Calories aty the gym. a typical spinning workout of 45 minutes may burn around 500 calories, which is a huge amount when compared to other types of workouts I have tried and fialed at.
Cameeli xx
I love how you've achieved this look I just know mine would not work as well as yours although the tip of taping it at the back would help
I can almost feel the Spanish sun looking at this card!!! Lovely. Mabex
I really enjoy your different ways of using dies and stamps.
Hi Sue, beautiful card , love the high/low technique. The ruched ribbon looks great. Lol lynne m x x x
Hi Sue,

This card is so opulent Sue !
Hope the show is going well -sure it is,

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Not sure about today's card as on the dark side for me. I love the design of the card and the different aspects of the topper that you have made today, its just the colour, sorry Sue. I think i'm making progress in coming out of my safe zone and then you throw me a wobbly. I will keep practising with the out of comfort zone cards and surely it will grow on me soon.
Sam, Spin classes are on stationery bike frames that only have the one wheel. They are on a frame that has the back wheel free to go and no front wheel. There is different gears we will say built into it to simulate you going up and down hills, so that you get the full experience of riding a bike. They ride them like they have been scalded and go mad trying to get up these fake hills and along the flat. It's knackering on every bit of the old body and it leaves the recipient feeling like me and walking just as bad.
What a lovely son you have Heather getting you a gift that is most appreciated and you will have joy using.
We are having one of those days that nothing is moving outside. The schools are back from last weeks break thank goodness as all i have heard is an xbox 360 up and shaking the rafters, with its player shouting at others, making me think he has flipped by talking to himself. And peace reigns once more.
Have a great day everyone and for those like me that have daily arguments with their body on what they are and aren't going to do, i hope its less painful day.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
Technique sounds complicated but I'll give it a go! As a relatively new crafter I'm learning so much from your blog.
Not so sure about this one-it is a little dark for me.Love the rose however and wondered if you could give us a little heads up on how to make it-maybe a wee tutorial at the top of the page.I'm hopeless,I keep forgetting how to do this kind!!!!and pictures may help me.take care and enjoy your shows,x.
Morning Sue,
Hope the trade show is going well for you! I'm sorry I don't like this card, it's not for me.
It would be a strange old world if we all liked the same things all the time.
Gail Cx
Hi Sue - yet another technique today - how do you keep coming up with them?!!! You never cease to amaze me. So different and so striking. Have a great time at your show - just wish we could be there, best wishes
YvonneMayxx
Good morning Sue. Are you demoed out yet? Irs difficult to see the highs and lows on this card on a tablet. I lived black and gold usually but can't see the definition on this one today. Xx
Very striking card today Sue

Hi Sue,
What an amazing technique! It gives a very dramatic effect.
Thank you for sharing.

Hope the trade show went well for you - love the ruched ribbon detail at the bottom of this card. Thanks, Susan x
Hi Sue
Another lovely card today. Maybe a tad to dark for me, but lovely just the same. Your dies sure are gorgeous. it's the technique that we love rather then the colour. I bet you're rushed off your feet at the NEC with orders for your fabulous dies. Spinning is much to much like hard work Cameeli. Where does your energy come from. I'd have to go back to bed after Spinning and swimming, let alone then go to work. Hope you will both be feeling better soon Steph and Norah, and Heather hope you aren't falling out with your Grand Caliber.
Morning Sue this card looks stunning and I hope the show went well so wanted to go. Have a good day. Helen xx
Nice card Sue .. happy crafting x
Wow that's different and with some unusual techniques to try. You are always trying to stretch us with techniques which is great. Thank you.

Good morning Sue and everyone
Love today's card. All the different techniques are fab. I keep meaning to try the high low technique but a bit nervous so keep putting it off.
Had a near disaster yesterday whilst trying out my new Sue Wilson bow die. I cut the first ones in white to see how they came out (beautiful but tricky getting out of die) so tried again using wax paper but didn't tape them down! Whilst they were going through my ebosser machine they must have slipped as two of them were on top of the rest. Oh no I could have cried! The dies had cut into each other and were all bent. I thought I'd ruined them on the first day of using. I carefully bent them back into shape as best I could and then very gingerly put them back through the machine expecting them not to cut properly....
Would you believe it they still cut brilliantly! I was so pleased. They are definitely made of good quality and made to last. So I have now got dies with pretty patterns in them. Not a recommended technique. The moral of this story is ALWAYS TAPE YOUR DIES DOWN WHEN USING WAX PAPER. I think I got away lightly this time.
Wishing all my fellow Wilsonettes a great day.
Hugs Sue xx
Hi Sue,
Sorry but I'm not to sure about today's card - might be because the detail isn't showing up to well on my PC as it's so dark. I'm also struggling to understand the instructions will just have to keep re-reading them. I am a great fan of the snow & ice technique so I'm sure it's just me having a 'senior' moment. Hope the show went well.
Beverley W
Does have a spanish vibe to it but unfortunately the photo doesn't do it justice. Looks too dark. This one needs to be seen in the flesh to appreciate the detail. xx
Hi sue
Well I must be still having an off day because I can't see the iced snow bit..lol I think I can see micro beads though but perhaps I'm missing the point on how this is done?
Think I'm getting to old for written instructions and need videos to see the way. But that all said I'm going to give the high low technic a go.
I do have a few cards to get out today and I'm feeling a bit better with my chest infection but my eyes have gone all puffy and sticky so today's cards are going to be a challenge for sure.
It's half term break too so 3 days off school and I'm going no where except my craft room.
Keep up the good work, all the best Pauline ( freedom99)
Morning Sue and all well sue youve done it again what a stunning card i love these new dies. This card ie so elegant and classy. Take care. Debs xx

Very nice card Sue,love the flower.

Morning all, the technique is fantastic, but this is a bit too dark for me. Have you shown this on a video yet?
Hope you are coping with the level of trade sales and enquiries I am sure you are getting.
Janice W
This is one of my favourite dies. I think the card is one that is better in real life, than in piccies. Hugs, Carol S.xx
Ok I zoomed in and I can see the ice snow it has taken on the black colour I would not have expected that I thought it would have stayed white. I'm going to try that out on purple and see what happens. Interesting .lol
Morning Sue,
A beautifully designed card, but it's a tad dark for me.
Hope you are having a great time and I,m sure your dies are going down a storm.

Hi Sue, I didn't feel drawn to this card and still find it rather dark despite zooming in to see it a bit better but I'm sure it sparkles in real life. Love from Jackie D
Good Morning Sue. Beautiful yet again. So loving the new dies and this in particular - very Moorish.

Very effective card Sue, definitely has a Spanish look to it. Pat x
Hi Sue. Wbat an opulent card today. As I won this die I will be able to give this one a try. It will have to wait until after the half term holidays though.!

Yet again, another stunning card.
Hiyah Sue,
Beautiful card, very opulent. I usually prefer the white and pastel colours but this one is really lovely, encourages you to be more adventurous in your choices, thank you x
Such a pretty card, love the dies, but sadly, short of cash, so they have to go on my bucket list.
Morning Sue, very Spanish looking card today, it looks like Spanish lace. Hope all went well at the show for you and sold lots and lots. Take care, Jess xx
The card doesn't show very well on the pc screen but bet its lovely when you see it. hugs Theresa x
Reading the comments I can see you have us all over the place Sue. I'm not at all sure what I think of this one! Thankfully, I watched one of your new videos yesterday so I understand what you did with the high low technique - wouldn't have got it otherwise! I suspect the photo isn't doing your card justice - it's a tricky one to photograph with all that gleam and glitter. Hhmmm . . . . off to take another look at the card and see if I can make up my mind.
Alison
Another great card using a different technique.
Hi, very different card, all those well explained techniques , yet I love the velvet ribbon, xx
Oh, this is one of my favourite dies in your collection. Ithe detail is amazing. And design is just gorgeous. This one sounds a bit tricky. Maybe you could show this in one of your video tutorials? I love gilding flakes, they just add something special. Sensational card, I love it all.
Alice xx
Good morning Sue
Love this card, Can be made with so many other colours too.
Thank you

Pam B
Hi Sue, sorry but I don't like the colour. It also looks a bit out of focus. Its either the computer or my failing eye sight! Just to let eveyone know that IconUK now stock Sue's dies and they are cheaper than anywhere else. Not by much but every penny counts! x
Hi Sue, I'm sorry but this one just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it is just the picture and it probably looks brilliant in real life.
On the upside the postie has just delivered the Classic Rose die that I nabbed from JS as soon as it was back in stock. Play time!

Morning Sue,
I love this card it's so rich and the Cordoba die and the way you have used it. Hope the NEC is going well.

I tend to agree with some bloggers, Sue .... This one seems too dark for me, but will be trying the techniques in paler colours.

Today's card is a little dark for me too but I love all the techniques used and will adapt . I guess the contrast is more striking though on the black!

Hi Sue. Today's card is beautiful !! I really love it. The only thing I am not to keen on is that it is a little bit dark for me personally. I love the layout of your card. Looks a little complicated and fiddly but I like a challenge, so I'll give it a go since it looks so lovely.
Hi Sue, I must confess I had to read the instructions twice before the penny dropped! I am keen now to try out this technique. I like the card, I use black quite a lot in my cards. Don't have the colour of flakes or ice that you used but will try with micro beads.
Have fun at the trade show, I'm hoping my local craft shop owner will come back with loads new stock ideas.xx
Hmmm....not too sure about this one I'm afraid :(
Good afternoon Sue and all followers,
great card and fab technique.
Great excitement here as we have just had our electric turn on again after the storm on Friday knocked it out. You don't realise how much is run on electric until you haven't go it.

Great techniques and ideas but not keen on this card, just to dark and moody for me.
Hi Sue, this card is truly stunning...I adore it. My dies didn't come in today's post... :( Love Sam xxx
Beautiful. Black and gold on white has to be THE most sumptuous combination. Once again your dies show their versatility and retailers must be clamouring for them!
Sue
Beautiful as always, am definitely loving the tag die, so unusual and pretty, very dark as many have said but I still think it's lovely, hope you are doing as well as we all know you should be at the NEC, just started raining here and I have to go out and teach in half an hour grrrr all this rain! Hello Sue, Another beautiful card. I hope you are enjoying the show and the show are liking you.

Hello all. I love this card, the black and gold is so dramatic. I received my latest die from your own new creations. The Californian Decoration Frames Set B. I cut on plain copier paper (so I can cut into and see the different ways I can use them) Then I cut using 300gsm double sided pearl card. I just passed the dies through twice and the card was embossed as well as cutting out the dies. It was a perfect dream to cut out. Everything was embossed to perfection and the dies so clean and sharp. Looking forward to slowly buying more of these dies. Many thanks for designing these, looking forward to your next designs. Kind regards Sandra Kent
Hi Sue
Your cards is very beautiful,I love this technique, and the die. My friend was at the NEC yesterday, she said she could'nt get anywhere near your stall you had so much attention. That's was good news. I have asked if she would get your dies for her shop and she has agreed to stock them. (even better news, not so so far to go and get them. )
Hi steph, Berkeley 4 paws not too good at present, she now has tremors. The vet rang me yesterday with another urine test result and we having to up the dose of medicine. She did say that the tremors could be to do with the same hormone not working in the brain, if in a week they have'nt subsided, she will start on another set of tests. Poor Berkeley dog, she looks so sad she just breaks my heart when she looks at me,( never been through so many tissues )
Kind regards :-)
Tina XX
PS Heather T :- Did you have a nice valentine break, and I hope were you pampered.
Kind regards :-) Tina X
Lovely card Sue, very distinctive. Xx
Hi Sue could not be more different from yesterday's card. Looks great, but my brain doesn't seem to have taken instructions in yet. But I will persevere. I love the tag used for sentiment, I bought that set and think this is the prettiest small sentiment die I have ever seen and certainly the best one I have in my collection
Lucky people at NEC,

Hi Sue & fellow Wilsonettes,I love today's card very dramatic. The fire & ice technique is one of my favorite but haven't done it with a die,a new thing to try,I might have to read instuctions a couple of times with useing the die.I think this would be better shown on a video to grasp it.
I love this die then I love all your die collections Sue.

Good evening Sue
This lovely card has the touch of the exotic about it. It also reminds me of the ruffles in a flamenco skirt. The colour palette adds loads of drama and it showcases the dies wonderfully. Love it!

Hi Sue
