Have A Fabulous Day

Hi blog friends!  I am now on the last week here in Florida and because I am excited about getting back, I thought I would do a giveaway prize every day this week until I leave on Sunday (which will be back to the comment game giveaway as usual).  I am going to pick one name from the previous days comments and post it the very next day.  Today's winner is:

           Heather T!!!

To claim your prize, send me an email at americansue1@gmail.com

For today's card, I have used the Bargello technique for my background.  Usually I select decorative papers for this technique, but I thought I would see what it looked like with varying shades of purples.  I picked four different shades and cut them into 3/4" strips.  I reassembled them taping the strips on a piece of copy paper in order from lightest to darkest, then repeated the pattern until the page was full.  Then, I cut them across the colours in 3/4" strips again so each strip had little squares of all the colours.  I reassembled the strips again this time taping them in an up/down pattern.  I used my Tapestry embossing folder to emboss the entire background to give it texture.  For my focal element, I decided to keep it very simple so I stamped one of the decorative stamps from the Celebrations Labels One set and embossed it in white.  I cut it out with  a large Fleur de Lis Square and mounted it on the diagonal in the centre of my background.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Decorative Labels One die.  I used Dusty Concord to ink it while still in the die.  I mounted it on the diagonal as well and added some flatback pearls to the corners of the background and the die cuts.  I finished the card with a double white pierced mat.  It could be easily dressed up with flowers or other embellishments if desired.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 7" in size.  Don't forget to leave a comment and then check back tomorrow to see if your name has been drawn!  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue,
I like the varying shades of Lilac/Purple that you have used and because it is a plain cardstock it shows the embossing folder up well. Today's card reminds me of a patchwork quilt that i had been eyeing up for my wee girls room when she was going through the "I hate pink stage, you know its purple mummy". Now we're up to the age of 21 and back in pink for everything.
Hope you are having a great time back at your American home, but we will be so happy to see you back home on this side of the Atlantic.
Well done to yesterdays winner and i know you will love your prize just as i did. Thank you Sue for giving your devotees that gift of your inspiration and talent.

Hi Sue,

Such a beautiful card. I learnt this technique at a class but had forgotten just how striking the outcome can be. Thanks for the reminder of the technique and for all your lovely cards. An inspiration everyday!

Gorgeous colour scheme here. Love purple. That background looks so good especially with that embossing folder used for texture. I wasn't sure I liked it before, but now I've seen it used its really pretty. The dies look simple & effective layered that way. Thanks for sharing Sue :-) Claire x

Wow Sue, this is lovely, my fav colours - it would go perfectly with the words of the Poem
WARNING
"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves etc" by Jenny Joseph

A simple card but it looks wonderful - & l have the folder too. Thank you for making us think outside the box again today. Hugs Dawn

Love the card Sue. Thank you, (as always!) for reminding us of this great technique! The shade of colours are lovely and just give you the options of other different colours that you can use like yellow and orange, pinks and blues. Love the dies too. Talking of which, I've just become one the luckiest ladies in the world (although I did cry a bit!). I had a delivery not long ago of 19 Spellbinder dies and 8 m-bossibility folders.....my husband sneakily ordered them for me! Well, I think that's Christmas and birthdays sorted now, for a few years at least! Lol! I did find a four leaf clover though last Sunday too....Enjoy your last week in Florida and we'll look forward to seeing you soon! Thank you for your generosity Sue and good luck to everyone! Congratulations Heather on winning your prize! xx Love Karen xx
