Something Just For You And Vegas Pics

Hello all!  Todays card uses some older dies as accents.  The Damask Motifs make a lovely lacy background for the focal piece from Just Rite stamps.  I started by embossing my milk coloured background with the Tapestry folder for texture.  I used the large decorative piece from the Damask Motifs and cut four of them from milk card.  I glued them into place with the tips pointing to each corner.  I cut four more of the same die using a pale teal card.  I arranged these so the tips were pointing in the open areas between the milk coloured dies.  Next I stamped my sentiment on milk card using a matching Green Archival ink pad.  I stamped the Labels three stamp from the Winged Vintage Labels Two and Three set by Justrite stamps.  I used a clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed it with clear powder.  I cut it out with the matching Vintage Labels Three die and used a smaller Vintage Labels two die for the inside of the frame.  I added some mounting foam to the back and seated it over my sentiment.  I added some flatback pearls (which I have just noticed were misplaced during their flight across the pond home, so sorry!)  I matted it with a few shades of teal and then a double mat of milk card which I pierced.  I decided to add some pearl PVA glue dots to the larger teal mat as well.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.
I thought I would show you a little of what I have been doing while in Las Vegas and then tomorrow show you a few pics from the actual show. So scroll down to see the Las Vegas activities!

Here is the helicoptor that I took down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon for a champagne picnic at sunset!

The Hoover Dam by air!  Isn't it spectacular!

This was taken on the other side of Hoover Dam and the white is mineral deposits on the embankments.
This was an extinct volcanoe out in the desert before reaching the Grand Canyon.
My first view of the red rocks of the Grand Canyon by air.
We flew by the Grand Canyon walk which over hangs the canyon with a glass platform.  I took bunches of pics while in the air, but those are the quick highlights.  Suffice it to say that the whole adventure was fabulous. I would highly recommend it to anyone!
The dancing waters at the Belaggio Hotel on the strip.  It goes off every fifteen minutes so it was always a welcome surprise when stuck in the traffic on the strip.
Inside the Belaggio Hotel, the reception area has this amazing glass chandelier installation done by a famous glass artist named Gil Chihuly.  It  sort of looks like coloured jellyfish!  Absolutely stunning in real life!
Although we didn't stay at The Belaggio, I love to see their gardens.  They change them about every six weeks and they are always fabulous.
Also, there is an amazing chocolate shop there and this is their chocolate fountain that is in the window of the shop!  It is floor to ceiling and spectacular!
This is the view inside the chocolate shop and that dress is entirely made of chocolate on the manequin!  Love the cakes flanking it on either side!

I met up with my very good friends Jimm and Audrey Freedman that used to own Stamp Oasis.  We did many, many stamp conventions together over the years!  We had a great time and caught up while they showed us around the town (they live in Las Vegas)

We went to a Brazilian steak house one evening, They have 17 different types of meat that they bring around to your table on a giant skewer for you to chose from!  Pretty impressive as they show up with these and slice off of them for you! I think I ate enough for a week!

And last but not least, and only in Vegas!!  Chapels every where in the town, but here was one that you can go to to have your pets get married (if you have nothing better to do with your $50!!!) LOL

Some show photos tomorrow.  All for now, Sue x

morning Sue
What a beautiful gift today with a very Victorian feel and so elegant. Of course the colour scheme so sets the dies off - teal in many shades - what more could a teal addict want first thing in a morning along with Sue Wilson.
Oh and a cup of strong French coffee of course.
I agree with Christine above it's nice to see some of the older dies and reminds us to dig to the bottom of our storage boxes as we always seem to use the ones at the top - Am I the only one that does this?

Photos are superb Sue although you wouldn't get me up there to start off and no where near that glass platform!!!!!
Feet on the ground that's me.

Hi Sue. Love the card today. The dies are so pretty and I love the colours. Your pics are fantastic. What a contrast between such spectacular natural views of the Grand Canyon and then the brash, gaudy over-the-top-ness, but so suitable and expected, of Vegas. I would love to do both...maybe one day! Looking forward to tomorrows CHA pics. Take care.

Dear Sue the card is wonderful and love the colour combo.

I want to thank you so much for the pictures from La Vegas they were super! I went through them a few times to check I didn't miss anything. However, typical of me the chocolate shop was to die for and those gardens are beautiful so colourful. It was amazing to see Grand Canyon from above as well.

I am not sure if I thank you enough but I just love your blog so much and feel I know you as friend, you bring a smile to my face every time I read your blog.

Hi Sue
Really like today's card - nice to see the older dies making an appearance once in awhile. I was making a card yesterday and needless to say the die I wanted was right at the bottom of the box. I found dies that I had forgotten I had!
The pictures are great I would love to see the Grand Canyon although not sure I could go on the glass bottomed walkway!! I don't mind heights, but prefer to be tied on with a rope LOL!

Hi Sue,
heartfelt thanks for your card today. I've got the Damask motifs and accents and did something similar but it didn't look half as good as yours. For starters, didn't emboss my backing card nor did a second layer (in my early days as an apprentice).
Photos are also WOW (I'm ever so glad I wasn't in the chocolate shop - sure would have bought lots!). The dress made from chocolate was something else for sure.

Hi Sue! Hello everyone! Gorgeous card Sue and so simple just using the same die but with different colour card, (one of my favourites). Thank you so much for showing your wonderful photos from Vegas. The views are spectacular! Ooooo that chocolate fountain and the dress made out of chocolate too.....it wouldn't last long here. It would be a case of now you see it, now you don't! Love the snail and the bird fixtures made with flowers too. So glad you caught up with your friends too for a great natter. There's nothing like catching up! I was in awe of the ceiling of glass too, such beautiful colours. So glad you're having a wonderful time Sue. Live for today and go for everything that you can and enjoy every moment! xx Love Karen xx

Stunning card today Sue..... just lovely..... and your pics reminded me when we went for the helicopter trip to the bottom of the canyon for a champagne picnic then flew back down the strip just as the lights came on at sunset, magical... and we went to the brazillian steakhouse at town Square, one of the best meals we had in LV (the other was at Top of the world in Startosphere)... love the bellagio too, their gardens are spectacular..... looks like you had a fab time there..... x

Morning Sue, sorry did not get time to do a post yesterday so doing it now. Beautiful card as usual. Love it.
On another note love the pictures you have posted. It took me back a few years because we went to Hawaii and flew the Grand Canyon so can relate to a lot of the pictures but did not have the champagne landing. You look like you are having a great time.

Hi sue

Wow fab pics, thank you for sharing with us. It's made me want to go to Vegas :-)

The card is lovely. I like the way you have used the die as a background, very clever. Nice to see a card using older dies.
