Double Embossing Technique

Hi guys!  I know I am a little late for Mother's Day on this one, but think wedding or anniversary and I think you will see it's value.  I really wanted to show you the lovely double embossed background you can achieve with this embossing folder.  Using a piece of soft gold card, I embossed it with my Interlocking Circles folder.  Next I moved my embossed piece so that the pattern was re centred in the open areas in the circles.  I taped it in to place and then embossed it for a second time.  You get a really cool effect of two layers of embossing this way and I think it shows up really nicely in the close up pics for you to see.  It is very easy to do as the folder is easily see through so you can place the pattern exactly where it needs to be.  Next I stamped the Vintage Floret Frame using a clear Perfect Medium and then embossed it with bright gold embossing  powder.  I find this stamp very easy to cut with the matching die set if you use your paper cutter and trim right on the line on two of the adjacent straight sides.  You can tape it into place using the side edge and corner of the die with your cut edge and it lines up absolutely spot on!  There are two tiny leaves at the top that stick out so you know you have the orientation correct by using those to make sure you haven't put it in the die upside down (they really thought that out I think!)  So after you have cut your image out with the matching die which is called Decorative Leafy Frame by Heartfelt Creations, add small pieces of mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension. I stamped a milk coloured strip of card with my sentiment (from Justrite stamps set called All In The Family Sentiments), mat it with soft gold card and cut the ends into a fork shape.  I attached the sentiment flag from inside the opening on my frame across my card, giving it a bit of shape and securing it with a glue dot.  I made several milk and gold coloured flowers using the Vintage Floret stamp set and matching die and glued them across my frame as accents.  I tied a double bow out of cream silky crush ribbon, topped it with a clear medium Dazzler  and added it to the side of my frame.  The stick pins were made gold simply by rubbing them on a clear Perfect Medium pad, dipping them in gold embossing powder and heating them to melt it.  I added a spray of pearl swirls under my sentiment flag and three flatback cream pearls to the upper corner.  I completely the card by adding a double milk coloured mat and surrounding it with Cosmic Shimmer pearl PVA glue dots.  Although you may want to keep this one in mind for next years Mother's Day card, it really would be lovely for many occasions before that as well.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue

A lovely card for a wedding, love the colours used.

I have this die and stamp, and I find it easier to cut the die then ink up the stamp and then lay the cut out card onto the stamp. Again you can't go wrong because of the overhanging leaves. :-)

Kind regards
