Fire And Ice Technique

Hi bloggers!  I just couldn't wait to show this card and technique as it is just so pretty( sorry about the glare in the pic, there are some closeups  below that are better).  They had a sneak peek at the demo day in Scotland as this card was made especially for that purpose.  I did get to show it again on yesterday's Tool Shed show and it looks equally as pretty in other colours of the gilding flakes too.  I named the technique "Fire and Ice" since the gilding flakes look a bit like fire with all the different colours coming out, and then it is covered with our new Glitter Jewels called "Iced Snow".  I started with a piece of black card and the Secret Garden background stamp by Justrite.  Using the flake and glitter glue by Cosmic Shimmer, I covered the stamp by just picking up the glue on to a piece of cut and dry foam and tapping it all over the stamp.  I laid the black card over the stamp, gave it a quick rub and peeled it away.  This is a glue, remember, so if you take too long, it will actually glue your card and it will tear as you pull away, so don't dawdle!  Leave it aside and clean your stamp next.  The glue won't dry until you put something on to it (It just stays very tacky), but the glue will adhere to your stamp and make it very mucky if you leave it on there so rinse it off straight away.  I used the Summer Meadow gilding flakes here and just lightly rubbed them over the image using a piece of rubit scrubit pad.  You will want to refine them by lightly rubbing in a circular motion to remove the excess flakes.  You can easily put them back in the pot for later use too so no waste.  use a tissue and dust away all the particles then cover it with a piece of self adhesive sticky sheet.  Peel the backing liner off and cover it with the Iced Snow.  Use your finger to take any excess off, then you have a gorgeous piece you can cut to whatever size you desire.  I matted my piece on another piece of black card, then cut a milk piece using the Scallop border dies on either side.  I matted that on another piece of black card before adding a double milk mat with a pierced inner layer.  I stamped my sentiment from the Justrite Floral Thank You set and cut it into a strip with a forked end.  I added a matching black mat to it and gave it a bit of motion by putting a bit of a wave in it.  I made a Delicate Aster flower out of the three largest sizes of the die and added two of the inner pieces in gold with a pearl centre.  I tucked the end of my sentiment strip under the flower and added a swirl die cut from the Bella Rose die set.  I finished the flower by adding glue to the tips and drizzling more Iced Snow on them.  Finished dimensions are 7 x 8 1/2" in size.  I hope you will give my new technique a go to see just how pretty it is in person!  Trust me the photos don't do it justice!

Now for the winner of the card giveaway from Saturday.  Thank you for all your lovely comments, I just wish I had about 200 or so of the cards to giveaway so everyone could have one!  However, the name that was drawn was:

 Norah Mc Phree!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card!

One more thing before I sign off today.  I had a lovely email from Nigel May thanking me for spreading the word about his new book that is available as a download now.  It seems that it we have helped him climb the book download chart from about 10,000th place to 1,000th place.  I told him that I thought we could do a bit better than that, don't you think!  Please tell your friends, family and coworkers about it and let's propel him skyrocketing up those charts!  If you haven't downloaded it yet, here is the link  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trinity-ebook/dp/B00CNW8Z00/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372085745&sr=8-1&keywords=trinity+nigel+may
All for now, Sue x

This technique is the best!I watched your demos yesterday, sorry they didn't leave you time to do the third, that Dean is a motormouth sometimes.

I succumbed to the bracket dies (from Amazon, free shipping so I saved £7.99 as C&C didn't reduce our costs because Andy won) and I got the stamps on ebay for £14.99! That way I saved about £13 over C&C including the shipping. It's nice to have C&C for the demos, but I can often beat their prices by shopping around.
Congrats to the winner of the card, I'm sure she will love it the way I love mine.

I bought diamond sparkles three glitters set from hunky dory some time ago and I am hoping I can use that instead of the ice snow glitter. I watched all your shows yesterday. Your sample cards and demos were fantastic !! I was a bit disappointed as there should have been more time for your demos and sample cards and less chatting from Dean. Hi Sue,
congratulations on yesterday's show. Loved this card and the 'fire & ice' technique along with the aster dies and stamps - they really do make such lovely flowers. Such a shame there were only two demos though.
Take care.

beautiful card, loved the show I managed to see yesterday x

I watched the 'Fire and Ice' technique yesterday as you took us through it on C&C, at the same time as I was looking at yesterday's blog. I reiterate, the technique results in a simply stunning effect. It reminds me very much of the technique that requires a piece of lace, double sided sticky sheet and two different glitter colours.
