Best Friends Forever

Hello my crafty friends!  I am setting off again across the pond this morning.  I'm stopping in Florida for a few days to see my Mom, then off to Las Vegas for the CHA trade show later in the week.  I have a Heartfelt Creations show to do from CHA on the 23rd which is now scheduled for 11am Vegas time which is 7pm UK time.  I will remind you closer to the date.  For today's card, I am showing another of the cards that I demoed while in Scotland.  This one showcases the wax paper embossing folder technique.  While there is a full step by step tutorial on this technique at the top of my blog, I will just walk you through the quick version here.  I embossed a piece of wax paper with my Tapestry embossing folder.  Using a hot (non steam) iron, place the wax paper between two pieces of gloss card (gloss side inward touching the wax paper) and iron it.  The pattern will transfer from the wax paper on to the gloss card and create a resist.  I inked this piece with Eggplant Adirondack ink, then used a tissue to remove the excess ink, leaving this interesting background for my card.  I cut the Elegant Labels 4 die using the inside die to create a frame out of white card.  I then cut a larger piece of eggplant (aubergine) coloured card to use as a mat for it.  I glued the white piece to my card and then lined up the centre die to cut the opening exactly in line with the frame.  Next I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Gold Labels 4 smallest die.  I cut a larger one as a mat for it and inked it with Dusty Concord before removing it from the die.  I cut the Twisted Metal Tag die and glued it over the top and attached the tips to my frame.  I added some flatback pearls as accents.  To complete the card, I used my technique called "Paved Pearls" around the edge.  This technique uses the Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue to make random sized drops all along a 1/2" wide border.  I used the Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue for this border.  I just love the interesting effect it gives to a card edge!  The finished dimensions are 7" x  9" in size.

Good morning Sue,
What a really nice card that you can give to either male or a female that is not too fussed on ribbons, bows or sparkles, the things we always think are a necessary part of a beautiful card. It still has the interest with the random pearl layer and i am going to try the embossed waxed paper idea.
Hope you have a safe flight back across the pond and enjoy your mum for the time your are able to spend with her. Please bring us back goodies for future shows, although i know you won't let us down,
take care

Good Afternoon

Sorry for my tardiness it is not lack of interest but didn't sleep last night or the night before 27 degrees in the house at night and then dropped children at school and promptly fell asleep!! I am not complaining though just explaining my lateness :)

Now your card has reminded me of this technique but at the time could not find white shiny card need to search again!

It is lovely I love the colours and as others have said would make a nice male card that is not dark colours! Thank you again good luck with your shows at CHA. I can't wait. My grandchildren break up on the 23rd so a nice end to the term for me.
