Hello all! I think this may have been the beginning of my grey and custard phase as I have done a few of them lately! This was the first card I made with the new
Celtic Motifs and Celtic Accent die sets. I absolutely fell in love with that border. I had an idea in mind when I started this one to make the borders look as if they are floating in the background. I am not sure if my photography has captured that or not, you will have to let me know. I started by cutting five of the borders out of the
mid grey card. I cut two strips of the
custard card and matted them on a slightly larger piece of
coconut white card. I taped the borders in equal distances across the back of that strip then added mounting foam to the strip. I trimmed the borders down to the size that I wanted and then did the other side exactly the same way. I cut a slightly larger piece of
coconut white card and paper pierced the side edges then mounted the borders and the strips they were attached to on to the white card. Next I cut my focal piece out of custard card using the
Celtic Motif. I used the outer ring die for this as well as the decorative inner piece. I used mounting foam and centred it atop my borders. I cut the smaller Celtic die out of grey card and mounted it in the middle. Then I stamped my sentiment using a
black archival ink pad and cut it out with one of the
Charmed I'm Sure tags. These tags have a single hole in them at the top, but I wanted a symmetrical look so I turned the tag around in the die and cut it so I had a hole on either end. I mounted it in the centre to complete my focal piece. I cut two of the decorative elements from the set and glued them to the strips on the top and bottom of the card as an embellishment. I added a double mat of mid grey card and used the Cosmic Shimmer silver PVA glue to add a decorative dotty border around the edges on the inner mat. Definitely one you could use for the guys. I had a request for more guy cards but I am afraid that I am a bit limited on them at the moment. I will do a bit more searching to see what I can find. Finished dimensions are 7" x 7 1/2" in size. GM Sue - unusual - I am not sure if I like the celtics dies or not - this card hasn't made me think that though - I mean in the packets - I am sure you will convince me eventually I do need them though!! Love the symetry of this card.

This is a lovely card. The grey looks really crisp and I think it would work with a number of different accent colours. The Celtic motifs look to be a useful set. I'm sold!

A great effect, I can just make out the shadow behind, so I see them floating. It is a striking card, but I haven't had the urge to buy these dies, yet, lol, even though they would be great for male cards.

The close up at the bottom does show the borders 'floating', nice idea. I like the border die but not too sure if I'd go for the central one. The custard yellow goes really well with the grey.

can see the effect you wanted but for me I'm afraid today's gift is too busy - I love the colour scheme but with the background covered in the celtic border and then the centre circle they take away the 'wow' factor.
I agree these dies will make great cards for the guys we have to cater for.

great composition, will certainly do something similar (if slightly smaller)at some tme in the future. The Celtic dies are not for me but I have plenty others I can use.
Would also replace the yellow with teal(for men) and old pink or mauve for us girls. But that is my own personal choice, it's not a criticism of your choice.
Love the versatility of this card which could easily be used for men or women and also different occasions by changing the colours.

I love anything celtic and this is no different. Love the dies, the colours everything. You could use many different colours to accent it, lilac, pink, pale green etc. Another set on my wish list.
To be honest I wasn't sure about the Celtic dies but this card has totally changed my mind. Yet again thinking outside the box comes to mind. Thanks again Sue.

Very nice. You can see that the Celtic boarders look as though they are floating. You could have used a grey promarker to achieve a shadow appearance.
