Black And White Simplicity

Hi bloggers!  Black and white simplicity for today.  I started by embossing the background on the upper half of this card using the Floral embossing folder by Creative Expressions.  I cut a piece of white card for the bottom half, then wrapped some frilly edged ribbon around the bottom and taped the ends to the back.  I tied a double bow and topped it with a large black and white cameo.  I used both the scalloped borders and the bracket border die set to create this unique border.  I had previously used my scalloped border die to cut a piece of black card and the pieces were still in the border die.  That gave me an idea so I thought I would try it.  I put a little Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue on the back of all the waste pieces that were still in the die.  Next I place my white card over the die and cut and embossed it.  I removed the die cut by pushing it out from the front of the die.  Every piece that was left in the die adhered to the same spot in the white border, giving me a unique look.  They did not cut out because I had not cleaned out the die before using it.  I cut the top of the border with the bracket border cutting edge.  I stamped my Vine Scroll stamp in back on white card.  I covered it with a sticky self adhesive sheet and used Labels 30 to cut out the shape.  I peeled off the backing paper and micro beaded over the stamped image.  I stamped my sentiment on white card then cut it out with the Opulent Oval die.  I added a double layer of white card and pierced the inner layer.  A simple, elegant card for someone so special (as the sentiment says!)  Finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

I like this card and I love black and white but for me I think there is abit to much black. Your stamps are fantastic, I have four at the moment, this being one of them, but hoping to add to the collection at the end of the month.

GM Sue - stunninng - such clever use of the die - it had never crossed my mind to do that - I thought you matted little black pieces behind each one.

Managed to get 3 of your embossing folders - the basket weave is to die for! my fave.

Currently trying to make 3 of your elegant labels 4 cards you demoed (the blue one) with the flowery stamp in teal, coral pink and lavender - it will be interesting to compare the different colours in the same design.

Hi Sue...I love this card as I'm a black and white girl when making cards and dressing...I think it's because I play piano and teach music...we see a lot of those colors everyday and I love them...this could also be used for men's cards but use some metal trinkets instead of ribbon and change the sentiment.

Thanks Sue.
