Floral Sunset

Good morning!  I just love the bright background with the black die cut flowers.  This is a really easy quick card to make if you use the Matting Basics B die set for the frame.  I started with the background and I inked a piece of coconut white card with distress inks.  I used mustard seed, barn door and dusty concord and inked it in rows.  I applied the ink quite liberally, then I decided that I wanted it to be a bit more diffused but still quite bright so I used all three colours and laid a stripe of each on to my craft mat.  I spritzed it with water quite liberally then placed my inked card down into it.  I pulled the card along to sort of mop up the ink.  This allowed my background to blend, but still retain it's brightness.  I dried it with a heat tool and stamped my sentiment in the upper corner.  I cut several of the Asters and Poppies in black card.  I nipped them a bit and added in extra flower heads here and there and tucked the stems under the edge of the frame. For the frame I used two sizes of the Matting Basics B set to cut the frame, then I added in an extra die and just embossed it into the frame edge for a bit more detail.   I added a thin white mat to lift it a bit then did my final pierced mats to complete the card.  This will work for any occasion so you can simply change the text to suit.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 9 1/2" in size.

Hi Sue,
This card doesn't do it for me - I think it's the pink in the background that doesn't sit right with me.
However, I LOVE the white version of them.
Looking forward to today' shows...

Lovely card. So looking forward to seeing you on C & C today. Ordered these dies on Friday, so have recorded all the shows for some ideas. I do have one question though, with the gilding flakes you get glue, but all i have seen Julia and youself use is the double sided adhesive sheets, why do you get this glue with them?

GM Sue - love this card - hope you will be demoing how to do this background today - it's fab. Will be watching your shows again today.

Played with the vintage floret dies yday - you are right what a difference the stamps make - I also put smidges of gold embossing powerder rounds the edges like you did on your card on 13th March and wowee!! really effective. Thanks so much for all the tips - they are wonderful

Happy St Patrick's Day Sue and to all your lovely followers.

This is a very striking card and the background is stunning. I love the technique you have used here. At first glance it looked to me like a black leather frame around a sunset picture, it's just gorgeous. I'm sitting watching a repeat of one of yesterday's shows, which is nearly over :-(

Congratulations to all of this week's lucky winners, well done ladies.

Have a great day Sue, I'll be tunned in at 4pm, see ya then.

Good Sunday Morning Sue!

I love this card it give me the feeling of the Caribbean for some reason and as that's where I am off to later this year it cheered me on yet another grey wet day. I loved the way you softened the background I would not have thought about doing that. Very clever Sue! I have softened colour in the past by wiping a light film from my anti static bag or baby powder.

I am looking forward to your shows I decided repairing the dishwasher could wait the deal was too good to miss with 30% discount and flexi pay so bought both sets so my credit card has crept into the darkness of my purse again for a well earned rest bless it! :) It's all about priorities isn't it? LOL!

Congratulations to all our worthy winners in the draw - enjoy!!

A different look today, Sue, as you don't do many 'picture' cards. Love the vibrancy (calls out for a giraffe silhouette!) and also liked the white/duck-egg version of this on one of the shows.

Hi Sue, I absolutely love this card. Saw it on TV but now get to study it in close-up. I haven't bought yet, still trying to decide as I like some dies from each set but not all in each. Shame C & C don't let us have a 'pick 'n' mix' - any 10 dies for the price of the multibuy. I'm sure there would be lots of takers for this type of option. Maybe you could suggest it to them?

Congratulations to all of today's winners, enjoy your prizes.

Hi Sue, love the layout & design but the black is a bit overpowering for me. Tho I'm gonna try it with white & pastel shades of blue lilac & pink - I use my panpastels to get similar hued backgrounds as I find they are so easy to work with - its hard to mess them up lol! Thanks again for all you fantastic inspiration.

Hi Sue,
A gorgeous sunset and the silhouetted flowers create a soothing scene. I found myself gazing at this and drifting off for a few minutes musing on past holidays in the sun. Thanks Sue.

Gorgeous card, stunning.

Looking at the spellbinders on C and C this afternoon and every time I saw the bendy tree I could see the female form with possibly beautiful curly hair, do you see this? or maybe you already have.

Hi Sue,
Great shows today , I like this card but the black frame is a little to dark for me I would probably try a red or medium brown but the idea is fantastic will try with different colour backgrounds. Loved all the demos and the tips many thanks.

Good morning Sue,
Sorry missed this masterpiece yesterday as i was so busy. But, you must have read my mind on background as i was thinking the other day that the black silouette would look beautiful against the sunset. I thin this card is truely beautiful, although i am not normally a dark person, but love this card.
Take care, love and crafty hugs,
Norah
