A Krafty Christmas

Hello everyone!  Back at last and hitting the ground running!  Since I need to get unpacked, laundry done and my Christmas tree put up and decorated today (through the jet lag! LOL), I thought I would post one of the Christmas cards that I had left to show.  This one has a bit of a vintage feel to it with the kraft card background.  I stamped the Justrite Holly Background stamp using a coffee archival ink pad on to Kraft card.    I used some coloured pencils to shade the leaves and holly berries.  I inked the edges with walnut stain to age it a bit and used a soft blue pencil to bring a bit of highlight into the inner oval area.  I stamped the heirloom ornament on to Kraft card using a clear perfect medium pad and heat embossed with gold powder.  I cut it out with the matching die and stamped the sentiment in the centre.  I used a white pencil to highlight some of the areas on the ornament, but wanted the gold to be the main focus.  I mounted it in the centre of the oval with 3D foam and added a small gold bow to the top.  I used my clear perfect medium pad and rubbed it around the edge of the background.  I sprinkled it with bright gold embossing powder and finger to remove it in spots for a more distressed  look when melted.  You can see this better in the last picture.  I matted it with a thin mat of white card before adding a wider mat of kraft card which I pierced.  This card reminds me of Christmas decorations made with spiced oranges and cinnamon sticks for some reason.  Got to get crackin' on that tree soon.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue,
Hope you are able to get some rest in the midst of all the Christmas chaos so you can recover from the jet lag. This is a beautiful card, I love the vintage feel. I have to say this is also my favourite ornament spellbinder die. I've used it with so many of your suggested techniques and it has never failed to wow me!

What a lovely traditional Christmas card to bring us after your travels! I do have the ornament stamps, but not the background although I'm sure I have plenty of stamps to make a background from! Very pretty. I had to make 5x Christmas cards a bit qiuck on Tuesday for a friend who wanted some crafted ones made. I was going to the city she lives that night, so I wanted to deliver them before the show I was going to see. I really didn't have much time but managed it somehow. 3-4 of them I was happy with, but one of them really didn't look like it was made by the same person as I was out of time to finish it properly (I was only doing 4 originally). I used some of my ornament dies & snowflake ones with some Kraft card I had. Looked effective, but I'd of prefered more time to finish them properly.

Hope your tree goes well! Ours as been up a week or so as my kids love to see the tree. I think being out of the country is a good reason not to of done it sooner ;-) lol! Claire xxx
