Yesterdays Flower

Good morning blog friends!  First of all I would just like to say a big thank you for all your support, kind words and wonderful emails after my POTD shows, I really truly appreciate all of them!  I see that we have reached (and exceeded) the blog candy goal so I will be back later today with a second post listing the winners, so be sure to check back.  For today's card, I thought it would make sense to show the card that yesterdays flower was supposed to have been used for.  You can see how the ultra thick, even though it is "clear" does add a yellowish tint to the flowers.  Sometimes it doesn't look out of place, but with the blue decorative paper I used, it just looked too green for me.  Oh well, I ended up with two sample cards and that is never a bad thing as far as I'm concerned!  Today's card was one of my favourites from the show.  I love blue and brown together, so I was quite happy with this one.  We were supposed to have the silky crush ribbon on the show, but there just wasn't enough of the stock.  I had already made the card so it just didn't get into the "demo" pile.  It is pretty self explanatory though, I think, nothing too tricky here.  I used the Fancy frame Tag Two die templates to create a repetitious look for my sentiment.  I cut three of them with the centre die in place creating little frames for my wording.  I stamped them on decorative backing paper that corresponded to my backing paper.  I think it created a bit of interest without being too overwhelming since the pattern was so fine.  I used a bit of mounting foam on the frames and recessed the wording.  I stacked them horizontally and added some of the brown silky crush ribbon up and down the side.  I tied a double bow and added a matching flower made using Sam Poole's button floral stamps (there is a tutorial I did for these on the Creative Expressions website under the workshop section).  There is a close up below of the flower too.
I added a couple of crystal stick pins and some pearlie bling on my ribbon strip and below my sentiments, pierced the edges and the card came together for me.  I hope you like it! Don't forget to see if your name gets drawn later today!  All for now, Sue x

A stunning card. the colours together are lovely. I had the best day for a long while on Wednesday watching your fab demos and picking up so many ideas. It would be great if C&C would have regular workshops featuring yourself and spellbinders, it would be fantastic with no regular stock updates and no presenter waffling on. I think you deserve the same respect as Barbara Grays' in the classroom. I have emailed C&C in support of this idea.
Take care.

Hi Sue, love the colour combo and of course the complete card. This seems simple to Create so I will have to give it a try today as my stock of cards is depleting. I support the call for you to be given a "classroom" show on C&C on a regular basis, you are a great teacher.

Morning Sue, This card is adorable. I love the blue and brown combo, they really complement each other. This card is a simple card but so very elegant, it is beautiful. Loving the bow and the bling, and the flower is 'to die for', it is so beautiful. I, too, think that it would be fantastic for you to do workshops on C&C without all the sales pitches, just like Barbara Gray does. I loved all the shows but I really loved the shows later in the day because you were allowed to do more demo's. Lots of love from Patricia xx

GM Sue - I agree with Craft Ann's comments - 'In the classroom with Sue Wilson' would be a massive hit I am sure - more emphasis on demos would be better and would sell even more goodies me thinks. Although it might be even tougher on you!!!!!! Afterall, anyone can buy the stuff but its what to do with it that really counts and leads to further purchases. there is too much emphasis on the products, especially when there are so many of them to go thro, which they have to do legally I think but it just takes too long and is too repetitive. We don't want much do we!!!

Anyway, love teh blue/brown combo - will be trying this one.

Good Morning Sue,
what a gorgeous card this is so simpmle ,and stunning, it's amazing how the tags can be used, and I just love the flower too !
Sue don't know where I was going wrong last night but I played back your demo how to make a stand, and followed your instrucions over and over but when I put my plates through my calibur I end up with everything being cut, the strip dosn't stop the dies cutting through ,after 6 attempts I gave up but am not giving up as I think you have converted me to making card fronts from now on, as long as I get round to mastering making the stand. I have just had an email to say all the lovely new dies I purchased on Tuesday have been dispatched and should be with me on thursday I'm so excited, Sue once again thank you for sharing your knowledge and inspiration with us, and I just love this card.
I'm off to buckingham Palace on Sunday, Hope you have a wonderful weekend..Hugs Shahab x

Very ,very pretty. Love the simplicity of this card-I think that is what makes it even more stunning. The colours are two that I love together and I must try to do the flower with the embossing powder.I received my card from your first POTD show that I was lucky enough to win and it is even more impressive in real life.I also agree with everyone else about 'in the classroom' with Sue Wilson.I am sure if c and c could calculate which shows are the most watched then you would win hands down They really need to give it serious consideration. Also any chance of another dvd from you -I have your first one and it is used so much it is almost worn out, take care,x

There has never been a card that you've made that I didn't love and today is no exception. I loved it whe it was shown on C&C and I am so glad you have shown it on your blog today so we can get a good look at it. I agree with everybody that you should have your own show and I
E mailed C & C some time ago asking them to give you your own show. I know they have to tell you what's on the shows but I would rather get more demos in than hear the same thing over and over all the time.

Hi Sue,
I prefer the brown/blue combination of this card to the brown and turquoise yesterday. Who knows why - maybe a ratio thing?
Anyway, this is a lovely card I like the repetition of the tags (bought this die set with 2 others from the show) and the pleasing arrangement of all the other elements.
Have a great weekend.
Sue

Hi Sue
The blue and brown are so pretty together and that spotty paper is soooo must have.
I have some of the crushed ribbon and I am looking forward to using it, the bows are amazing.

This is a very sweet card. Lovely colors and that sweet rose again. It's strange how your lovely bows have changed the way I look at cards :)

Beautiful card Sue & love the blue/brown together. Like how you've put the dies in a downward 1,2,3, order & the spotted paper along with the diagonal diamondy paper pattern match so well together. Lovely flower too Sue xx Love Karen xx ps, managed to get on the voting website, love & good luck to you, you deserve it! xx
