You Make My Life Bloom

Good Sunday morning!  As promised a break from Christmas cards today!  This card is a bit quirky, but I wanted to show it so you can see that dies don't always have to be static.  You can use halves or other sections to create great looks on your cards and projects.  I used three halves of my Vintage Lace Accent dies here to create a frilly edge for my card.  I picked a background decorative paper and covered it with our sticky adhesive sheet and coated it with micro beads for texture.  I glued the die halves to the left edge and added a thin strip to cover the cut edge.  Using Cosmic Shimmer pearl PVA glue, I added small glue dots down the strip.  I had a little bit of the background paper left so I made two rolled flowers and leaves  for a shabby chic look.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it at the end into a forked flag.  I matted it with some taupe card.  I decided to do a bit of scoring around the edges instead of my usual piercing for a bit of a different look.  Finally, the finishing touch was a pearl swirl for interest.  I hope you can use some of these different ideas in your cardmaking projects.
As it is Sunday, it is time for our comment game winners for this week.  They are:
                                                                Bean!!!
                                                               Theresa H!!!
                                                                Martine!!!
Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue, vintage lace dies are versatile as are most dies its just that you have to use your imagination to gat the best out of the which is what you do so very well. Love this card.

GM Sue - I like the scoring round the edges - I like piercing also but I have my heart in my mouth everyime I do it as they never seem to match up perfectly in the corners - how do you do that?.. I am beginning to think it must be the size of the card - it needs to be a certain ratio of length to width perhaps? Off to practice my piercing!

Hi Sue...Happy Sunday to you and yours...another lovely card, the colors go well together and the background paper is quite bold but works...I love the pearl flourishes as they help to fill a gap...a good tip to cut some of the die shapes in half...something else to add to my 'try to' list!!
Hope your weekend is going well and you can watch some of The Olympics on TV.

Take care. Deborah. :)

Most of your cards elicit a "WOW!" out of me. This one elicited a "HOLY MOLY!!!" It looks simple enough (and I'm sure you'd say it is), but it blew me away. There's not a thing I'd change.

Hi Sue,

Good Morning Sue. Love the idea of the card but don't like the background paper. It's a bit orangy for me but love the way you have used the dies. It's a good job we don't all like the same things as life would be a bit boring.

Good Morning Sue,
A lovely bright, warm card today. I like how you have used the dies, the flowers are cute, really nice. The strip down the side is from the bauble blossoms, the only die I use from that set, as I cannot roll them flowers for the life of me, lol.
Congratulations to the comments winners.

A lovely 'quirky' card. I have empathy with your fellow blogger about piercing, I have difficulty gettin the corners right like you and Julia. I have worked out how to get my PVA dots equal by using the markings on my craft mat but even then have to fiddle the spaces at the corners. Any tips please?
