Believe In Yourself

Hi blog friends!  I can't stay away from Kraft card for too long and this card is no exception.  The background is a printed kraft card (I am fairly certain this came from the Tim Holtz Kraft pad).  I distressed the edges and used a black fine tipped ink pen to draw faux stitch marks around the edge.  I used some Black Soot distress ink with a very light hand on the edges too.  Using the smallest size of the Grand Dahlia dies and one of the Moroccan Accent dies for the inside, I cut a frame out of black cardstock.  I stamped my sentiment on a strip of kraft card (I used the back unprinted side).  I cut one end into a fork and backed it with a mat of black card.  I put the other end through my frame for a modified buckle card.  I raised it a little for dimension and added some black rhinestone swirls as an accent.  Using the champagne coloured silky crush ribbon, I tied a double bow, added two black pearl stick pins and a fancy button and attached it to the side of my frame.  A mat of milk coloured card for contrast and piercing around the edges finish off this quick card nicely.  By the way, the approximate size on this one is 5" x 10", I just love this shape!  All for now, Sue x

I'm so glad you put this on the blog, I think I saw you do this on C&C but it may just have been a sample, it is lovely. I have not caught the kraftcard bug (yet) but I do keep meaning to save bits of boxes and cardboard to do a grungy kinda card in an homage to the kraftcard, just keep forgetting to save packing before I chuck it in the recycling bin, and to be honest, I've that much crafty stash I haven't really got room LOL for a 'trash corner'!

Hi Sue,
Yes, the background IS from the Tim Holtz Kraft Resist paper pad - I know because I had it delivered to me this morning! (I took advantage of the Jubilee Weekend postage deals to buy a few things that have been on my wish list for a while). Imagine my surprise when I saw my new paper in todays blog! I had to start making the card straight away - especially as it was a favourite of mine from one of your C&C shows. I don't have the grand dahlia dies so am using the lotus pendants instead - and as they are more angular I am thinking the black & white striped grosgrain would make a more fitting bow. I'm having such a lovely time - how clever of you to put this particular card on the blog today!

Linda (Lindyloo) said...

This is amazing Sue. I don't know what is it but now and again you make a card that I just ADORE, like your Parisian in Teal that I just had to case. Well todays card is one of those special cards. It's not flowery and girlie and catching my feminine eye; it's not shabby chic splendor with vintage papers and layered with my favourite lace; it's not even steampunk and way-out appealing to my love of Sci-Fi; but it is stunning!!
I think it is because it encapsulates everything that you and I seem to like, flowers (in the die shape) big layered bows, distressing, bling and Decorative pins. Plus to make it even more appealing it is in kraft and black.
You have done it again dear lady, topped yourself and now I am going to have to Case it. Umm, lets think......... oh I have a lovely idea, but the only problem is I only have Labels one in Grand dies so I will have to hand cut a large blossom shape. I really must save up for some Grand dies. I would love to own some especially to make some fancy journals as Christine Emberson does.
Anyway, I digress, this card will now go into my top ten without a thought. Simply amazing.
Hope you are well. Hugs Linda x
