Sunday's Winners and A Cross Card

Happy Sunday!  You know what that means, don't you?  More winners in the comment game.  First to the card though.  A simple cross card in teal, cream and black.  I embossed the background using double sided coordinations card and the Valor Embossibility folder.  I sanded it once embossed to show the teal colour and distress it a bit.  Next I cut two of the Labels 24 and interlocked them.  I did this a lot as I thought it worked so well with many of the dies from the last shows (and that was the only label shape besides the square swatches that I had to work with!)  I cut the largest cross twice from milk cardstock from the neutral cardpack.  The first cross served as my base.  The second one I cut, I removed the arms and used the very centre but did not punch out the fall away pieces.  Instead, I taped the back of the piece to keep them intact for a more solid look.  I like the way you can see the cut lines though.  I mounted this piece on foam and attached it the the cross for dimension.  I added a large half pearl to cover the centre hole.  I cut a piece of the cream crocheted ribbon and wrapped it around the bottom of the card and secured it to the back.  I tied a double bow and added a pearl brad to the centre and attached it to the bottom centre of my card.  No sentiment again, but a tag could be easily stamped and added to the bow depending on the occasion.
Here is a close up of the centre of the cross.
And now for the weekly winners in the ongoing comment game.

Good morning Sue, I think for me personally I like Teal with cream better, the black seems very dark and you have shown in the past a symphathy card doesn't need black,. But you are the master of technique and this card is full of both technique and design. thank you again for your unselfish inspiration. Best wishes Lesley x

A quick one today sorry, it is my sons birthday and so today is about him. Love the card and I especially love the way you did the cross, leaving in the cutaway pieces is lovely and adds a different dimension to it. Teal of course, I just adore, so all in all, gorgeous!
Need your help please Sue; you know the Spades 5in border die, I used to make a cross on my Communion invite on my blog; well I cannot find it on Spellbinders, is it a discontinued line? I wanted to put the name and number alongside the card but can't find it anywhere. Hope you can help. Hugs Linda xx
