)Hi guys! The card for today's post is quite different I think, in that it uses household greaseproof baking paper! Look closely, yes there it is, the ruffly background behind the focal element. If you are having any difficulties getting any of your die cut pieces out of the dies, then lay down a piece of baking paper or if you can find it, American wax paper (which actually even works better!) These will allow your card to pop out of your dies very easily. And, being that we are crafty crafters, we can then use this delicate lacy piece in one of our creations too! I was cutting the Persian border for another card and this was leftover so I decided to ruch it a bit so it went around my Labels 25 shape. I used three of the borders if memory serves me. These are just taped to the back of the label shape here. I then stamped my sentiment and cut it with the Persian Motif die and inked it lightly with Tea Dye to complete my focal element. I added two pieces of cream lace from my stash at the bottom and tied some American seam binding around the card and added a messy bow on the left side. Using the smaller Persian accent pieces, I cut two and offset them to look like a flower. I did the same with the very small Persian piece for the centre of the flower. I topped my bow with these and added some pearl spray bits (from my stash again. This decorative paper is from Authentique, isn't it pretty! I just love the colours. Hope you are liking the frilly baking paper. You may just be raiding your kitchen soon for supplies! All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue, this is a lovely card and the colours go together so well. I have tried the baking paper and it really works, but like you I had to use the pieces for something, so I added them to a scrapbook page and they look great. Will try adding to a card next time. Thanks for the tip.

Morning Sue, Great idea for using baking paper. I have virtually a full roll in my cupboard. Only comes out when I use Fimo clay!! Might try screwing it up for a bit of texture and then cutting it out with a nestie. Mmmm!! Thanks for the idea and another stunning card. Hugs, Carol S.xx
Wow! Can we colour the baking paper?
Hi Sue, I loved this card when I saw it on t.v. & for once I had had the same idea, though I only got as far as using the baking paper to make flat layered flowers for postage = looks fab on steam punk cards.
I like the creamier look of the wax paper so will be getting hold of this next.
Other favourite household crafting items of mine are aluminium foil, kitchen roll, toilet roll, drinks cans, Sellotape, lemon juice & bleach.
The Grand Calibur is great for these kinds of projects as it is hard to see what the original products were, as in your very feminine example.
Thanks for being such a huge inspiration.
With Love & Light Theresa. H
Dear Sue

Great use of bakng paper as it gives a different texture to the card
Sue, the card is wonderful, the idea of wax paper is brilliant too - I tend to use a little bit of talc or a tumble drier sheet if the card is dark, but am off to try your idea.
Morning Sue,
Wonderful card, really stunning. You sure have a way with colours xx
Hi Sue,
I really like the design of this card, but have to be honest I am not that keen on the colours.

Hi Sue,
When you were demo-ing this I thought it so pretty and noted your reference to waxed paper and that cereal packet "paper" was no longer suitable. Having finished a box yesterday I tried out the Lace Doily Accent Strip with it and it worked beautifully so if anyone has Fruit and Fibre from a certain German based supermarket A*** then try the cereal liner!!
love from Jackie
Fantastic card Sue I think the supermarkets will be having a run on baking paper LOL. Thank you so much for sharing these tips with us. Bless you. Christine H x

Another good tip, about the wax paper, I did hear you say it on C&C and I am going to ask all the family to keep the waxed paper insides of their ceareal packets for me as you said that would do it too. Nice colours on this card.
Gorgeous card Sue!..Loved it when you showed it on CR&CR..brilliant tip about greaseproof paper. Will try it in a couple of dies that keep sticking. Keep the cards coming pls. It's so nice to get a breakdown of how the cards are made that are shown on the shows..:)..Have a great day...xx

I do like that card a lot :D Thank you so much for the greaseproof paper inspiration, it needs a use now I craft rather than bake :D xxx
I was sorry that I missed you actually doing this card on C & C so I am very glad that you have posted it. My mother always used to use waxed paper and then for some unknown reason it became unavailable over here. However Lakeland Plastics now sell rolls of it. It is also useful for other "crafty" things apart from die cutting.
I don`t know how you do it Sue, you just keep em coming. Fantastic!
Hi Sue
Another beautiful card. I never get bored of looking at them. I love the colours, might be my favourite combo......until the next card.

Wax paper is so difficult to get,for my punches I used the wax discs that are to seal preserves in their jars, it's a pity they are not larger as we'd be able to use them on our round dies
Hi Sue, I absolutely love this card what can i say stunning, colours blend together as usual you are such a clever person julie
Hi Sue ,

Great idea.

Hi Sue, I have only just found your blog! I cant believe I havn't seen it before. I am an avid fan of yours on C & C. Your creations are masterpieces wonderful. love Linda x
this so works also like the teal thankyou card colors fab
Hi Sue,
This was a definite surprise card when you first showed it on tv. I could see by your expression when you showed the 'ruffle' that you were proud of it and I can see why. These cards that we make with 'that little something extra' always seem to put that 'pleased' smile on our faces don't they.
You are right about the paper, it is beautiful and I will definitely be looking for that on the internet, unless of course, you can remember where you bought it. I have an Anna Griffin paper that is similar, but not in this lovely brown and blue.
I hope your mum is doing ok and not missing you too much.
Take care Linda x
Hi Sue, what a stunning card and using greaseproof paper is inspired.
Hugs Sue x
Love this card Sue, it's just stunning. I had a problem with the more delicate dies and someone told me to rub them with tumble dryer sheets before use and it works brilliantly but love this effect. The shops won't know what's hit them when everyones suddenly asking for waxed paper!!!
Teresa xxx
What a great tip. Love the colour combo on this one too.
Another stunning card Sue. I had forgotten about the baking paper tip, even though I baked yesterday!!!!
Thanks for sharing the tip and the beautiful cards. I always look forward to your shows.

What a great idea to use the wax paper to creat a delicate effect. Love this card.
Absolutely stunning!!! For some reason, the 1st blog comment i wrote, (probably because it IS the 1st comment i have ever written), didn't get posted. All I said was that this is a lot of 1st's I've done. 1st blog subscription, 1st add-on, 1st look at you're blog. I could go on. It's obvious that you are not making cards, you are creating glorious work's of art. Can't wait til morning for the next one. Celina-Waterford, Ireland
Hi Sue, What a pretty card - and I love the colours too. With a different sentiment it would make a super Mother's day card. I've discovered I have both greaseproof and parchment paper - and a whole drawer full of cereal bags! Your neutral cardstock arrived today and is so smooth (I've been stroking it!) I can't wait to use it. Sue x
Very pretty paper and love the new spellbinders! The wax adds a real pretty touch to the bkrd to the front of the card!

Hi Sue, such a beautiful card, I was baking just yesterday and thought how similar the baking paper looked to the glazzing paper so I am thrilled that you have beat me to it. I was watching your show this morning about the ruching the word ruche or rouche is directly from the French, meaning a frilled lawn or edge used to decorate blouses around the neck In The 16 th century, according to Wiki. Shall be watching over the weekend how perfect can it get. Thanks. Xx
Another lovely card, love that wax paper behind really must try this myself :)

Hi Sue, I love the sentiment that you've use for this card. Is it possible to ask where did you buy the stamp please? I have missed the POTD but I'll try it next time. Thank you for the card that you gave me, can't stop sharing it with other people. They're loving it...I started making cards to sell to help EACH charity shop and Help for the Heroes, as I am not well to volunteer in the shop because of my illness. This is my own way of helping my local charity shop and Help for the Heroes. Your my inspiration, thank you. God bless you and your family. Aggie - Norwich xxx
