Happiness Is A Butterfly

Good morning all!  I have made it through Thanksgiving weekend (including Black Friday!) here in Florida.  The weather has been lovely and I am enjoying my time with my Mom and Dad!  But I still have more cards to post so here is today's card.  Yes, more teal... but not a ribbon in sight!  I may go through withdrawl symptoms so I am just warning you now, tomorrow could be ribbon overload! LOL  How is this for a truly simple, quick and effective card?  Three panels of teal card mounted on to a piece of white card, then a small mat of black glitter card (for bling) then a final mat of black card.  I cut the large butterfly from plain black card using the gorgeous butterfly die from the Fanciful Flight set.  I used the smaller butterfly from the set and cut three of them from black glitter card.  I added some black rhinestone swirls to look like the flight path of the large butterfly.  Stamped the lovely saying from the Garden Sayings set and embossed it with clear powder over black archival ink. Fini!

I have been enjoying all the comments you have been leaving on the blog, thank you so much. As requested,  I will do a photo tutorial for the flowers (crocheted and otherwise) as they all work the same way, but it is different than the flowers on my DVD.  I will also try to get a tutorial done on the Spellbinders that was cut half way but completely embossed.  I have been working on some new cards while I am here, but I haven't done either of those things yet.  The next card that I make using them, I will take step by step photos for you I promise.   All for now, Sue x

Love this card, i think its one of my fav. i think you were right not to put ribbon on it as it would have taken the eye away from the butterfly's. glad your enjoying the time with your parents, i don't how you do it being so far away and in another country! i live 30mins away from mine and some times that's to far!! Plus i get to craft regular with bot my parents...yes we all make cards scrapbooks etc.

The black swirly trails are the thing which make this card stand out for me, of course the butterfly is magnificent but without the swirls would not be half so amazing. You just have a gift of knowing how to make the designs one step up from the rest of us 'mere mortals' we are not worthy!!!!!LOL

Hi Sue, Oh please don't mention lovely Floridian weather; it's damp and blustery here in Wales. I haven't been back to Florida (St Augustine) since my friend passed away 2yrs ago and I miss it alot. I am, however, so pleased to hear that you are having a good time.
I like the simplicity of todays card. I think the plain cardstock for the filigree butterfly against the glittery, but plain-cut smaller ones was a perfect choice; it adds extra texture. The lack of ribbon is no lack at all. Only thing I love that is missing, is your pricking around the teal layers. But maybe I'm wrong.
Regards and best wishes to you and your family. Linda

Beautiful card Sue, simple and elegant. Looking forward to your tutorials. Your missing all the horrible weather here, we had gale force winds and torrential rain up in South Lanarkshire and its definitely getting colder. You are so dedicated to this blog, posting even when on holiday and we all really appreciate it. Thank You!!!

Oooo, WOW!!! What a beautiful card! I have these dies so I am going to make a similar card but never having seen Teal card i will have to use a different colour obviously!
I don't have a big collection of Spellbinders and my wonderful little Cuttlebug but watching you, Sue, has inspired me to make as much of the ones I do have and its working! Not having any fancy tags I now make my own from the other off-cuts that are left ... I really neeeed more dies!!!

I really liked this card when you showed it in one of your demonstrations, teal, butterfly trails, the three panels but I liked it mainly because of the verse. Unfortunately the stamps had sold out when I placed an order.
