Sailboat Stained Glass

Hi bloggers!  I have a really quick and easy stained glass card for you today!  I started by cutting the Sailboat Stained Glass die out of Cobalt blue card.  I glued a piece of vellum to the back of it, then turned it over and coloured in the design with Distress markers. I used Festive Berries, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Stormy Sky, Tea Dye, Picket Fence and Faded Jeans for the colour selection.   I did use a wet paint brush to lighten some of the colours and add a bit of shading in the sun area.  I used the Double Stitched Rectangle dies to add a multi layered white frame around the design, which I added with mounting foam to raise it for dimension.  The card was completed with white, red and blue mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  7 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue,

A fabulous card today. I love how you have colored onto vellum with distress markers, I would never have thought to do that. The red, white, and blue mats just give it a truly nautical feel. Makes me want to go out sailing in the bay. I love it.

Have a wonderful day.

Good Morning Sue. This morning's card is really very nice.... but unfortunately not for me. The stained glass cards are the only sets of Sues that just don't do anything for me. I am sorry if I offend anyone with my post....as I know many of you like these sets.... but it would not do for us all to like the same. Sue always makes a wonderful job with all her dies and this is no exception. Sending best wishes to everyone this very sunny morning. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds

Morning Sue, as the gremlins have returned to my tablet I am having problems charging it up, so apologies for missing yesterday's blog. After seeking help I think it's going to be a new one.
However, I'm so glad that I didn't miss today's offering. It is gorgeous. I love all of your stained glass effect dies. I too will be giving this one a go. Hugs xx Pauline

Lovely card. Bright and cheerful.

I like the idea of using vellum/parchment behind and colouring it. I must try the same with my Christmas stained glass ones. I don't have Distress Markers but assume the Graffix alcohol markers will do OK.

I love this card, so clean and crisp . very versatile, as one could use it more ways than a card. I was thinking of using it on a small canvas and giving as a gift, as a remembrance of a yachting holiday or similar.

It could also be sent to our younger members of the family.

A die I must buy!

Hi Sue, sorry to be late again, the day just seems to have run away with me. I love this card, it really is a picture in more ways than one. Love the colouring and how you matched up the matting and layering. I haven't tried colouring from behind on vellum so I should give it a whirl with some of your other stained glass dies that I have as I really like the effect. Thank you for giving me yet more to think about.

Hello there Sue . Just when I was tearing my hair out to find a card for my 15 year old Great Grandson and 14 year old Great Nephew along comes comes a suitable card that will only need slight modifications. I don't have the yacht die but I do have the stained glass frame. Young girls are pretty easy to find suitable embellishments for but not so for young boys. Thank you Sue
for all the work you put into your blog.

I am late also. Had a frustrating couple of days jamming my Vagabond which is still jammed and probably dead unless the husband can undo on Sunday. It was my carry along machine to stamping groups. I really want a Sizzix Foldaway but they are not sold in the states yet. One would be lighter and not need electricity but I may have to get something else portable sooner now.Blah.
This card is so bright and cheerful and great for guys no matter the age. I love the idea of coloring on vellum on the back. I have used acetate like that with alcohol markers. Donita, if you try the Oxide reinkers, report back to us.
Have a great day everyone. Rainy here and cooler again.
