Thinking Of You

Hi bloggers!  I thought I would share with you one of the techniques that I was demoing at Ally Pally this past weekend.  We have some new products at Creative Expressions and one of them is called Pixie Powders.  I started with a piece of black gloss card and covered a large area with Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue, keeping it a bit thick.  Next I tapped the Pixie Powders from the bottle (never squeeze them!) all over to cover the glue.  I used Midnight Blue, Teal Wash and Real Gold on this piece.  Once covered, either use an old brush to tamp it into the glue or very lightly spritz it with water so it keeps the powder from flying away during the next step.  Get your heat tool warmed up and hold it over a corner until the glue starts to bubble, then slowly move it all around and keep doing it until it stops bubbling.  It will take four or five minutes on a larger piece like this.  It will be very hot so set it aside to cool well.  Next I cut a layered frame using both sets of the Double Pierced Squares.  I added a thin black gloss edge on both the inner and the larger outer frame.  I stamped my sentiment, then made a few Flowers to match.  The flowers were done by using the same colours of Pixie Powder, but on black card lightly spritzed with water to just activate the powders. I cut them from the Sweetheart flower die set then added the matching white edge to the top of each flower before assembling them at the end of the sentiment.  I added a simple double white mat to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.

Beautiful card, lovely. I'm so glad everyone enjoyed Ally Pally.
Congrats to Helen and all winners
I missed the show on Saturday, it was my granddaughters 14th birthday and she took me to the farm where their horses are stabled as she is mother to two baby lambs who were rejected, so she goes up to bottle feed them. She is a gorgeous young lady.
Daily hugs to all including Melody Molly, Tracey.

Morning Sue. WOW ! Amazing. I need pixies in my life. I have a fairy craft mother now I need these cheeky little devil's too. I knew there was a reason I bought some black gloss card a few weeks ago - it may have been for another technique you showed us but I've forgotten which it was now, just typical of me, I know the CE rep is visiting my little local craft shop tomorrow so it's time to send another text order to my friend and owner so she can add it to the mounting foam, primrose card and new folder order along with the cupcake happy birthday perspective die.
Poor Phill yesterday, I did wonder how he'd cope doing his demo without his mike, bless him, he handled it so well, full of giggles as usual lol. Was looking out for familiar faces, but people look so different from blog pictures !
Really looking forward to your next shows Sue, think you need a holiday after being so incredibly busy over the past few weeks.
I will end by sending you my usual hugs and hope you have a good day xxx

Another lovely card . I see the usual unprofessional production team of Hochanda were at Ally Pally at the weekend . Not only did it take 20 mins to 'mike' up poor Phill , who handled it with good humour, but at one stage the captions on the screen covered Sue's demo ! After all that we could not watch on Freeview. What is wrong with this company ? Give me Create and Craft any day.

Hi Sue & lovely Wilsonettes*I tried to get a look in when you were demoing the ‘Fairy dust’ on Sat aft’ but people were 4/5 deep around your table so all I could do was to give a little ‘see you later’ wave & hoped that later there would be less observers, unsurprisingly there was no chance of that*lol. Still it’s nice to know that you & your blog family AP visitors had a wonderful time over the weekend, the only thing left to do today Sue (if you can*lol) is to put your feet up & completely rest to gear yourself for the coming shows, did I just hear you say ‘no chance’ Lol I don’t know how you do it, you’re like wonder woman on a mission. Mind you, I remember everyone used to call me busy B because I had what I thought would be infinite energy, oh well those were the days x x x

This card works well together & I love the frames you have created, but I’m not sure YET about the centre. Maybe I have to look at it some more, maybe seeing it in real life it will wow me beyond words or maybe if the colours were slightly lighter or pastel it will grow on me, but without a doubt I love the effect that the ‘Pixie Dust’ has on the sweetheart flowers they stand out beautifully with a definite wow factor. Without a doubt you have once again shown us that different is what it is all about in creating a card, naturally there will be oodles of fans that will fall over their heels for this card, me I shall let it slowly grow on me x As always Sue thank you for sharing x x x

HELEN; SUE; KAREN & IRENE* congratulations on being the chosen winners of Sues delightful prizes; enjoy x x x

DIANE*It wasn’t me who won Sues demo card from Saturdays live show, it was another lucky lady & I guess she was well over the moon at being chosen x MAUREEN*It was another lady behind me who asked for the item number on Sat x

LYNDA*Hi my friend I spoke to BT to ask why your number hadn’t come up on my phone when you called & left your msg on Sat, they asked a load of questions (as they do*lol) & the clever engineer came to the conclusion that when I put my phone in ‘Aeroplane mode’ during Sues live show & switched A/M off again it had caused a glitch with the software, they tried to call my mobile but it too went straight to answer phone. So through land line call they got me to switch off phone, remove sim card, put back in & switch phone back on, they called mobile again few minutes later & this time it worked. Won’t be using that method again, but if anyone else has the same problem you know what to do*lol. Shame the noise/static was so much louder than your gentle voice my friend that I couldn’t hear where you were, but like you I’m not too keen on having to use answer phone either. We will meet one day soon. Love ‘n’ (((Hugs))) x x x

LAINE & YVONNE* lovely to see you back with us my friends have missed you & your bantering*lol. Don’t worry Laine as you couldn’t make it for AP this time round, sadly, then it is all go for Sept’ if the same plan is okay for you x x x

Well my friends it is back to work for me today...boo hoo...where has the time flown to. As always I send love ‘n’ (((hugs))) to you Sue & to all of you, especially to those who are going through a difficult time, HEATHER T Sorry if I missed your comment & sincere condolences on your loss but I send you special (((hugs))) . Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Not quite sure of this one Sue but it might grow on me. What i do think is that it looks like outer space and the cosmos that you see on certain nights. It reminds me of molten lava just it's not red or orange in colour but that's what i see it as, see imagination running wild again. I'm glad that you all had such a lovely time at the AP at the weekend and that so many of the Wilsonettes could go and see their idols mesmirize them. I think this would need to be a demo to watch out for to see the magic take place.
Well congratulations to all last weeks winners, i hope that you treasure your prizes as i know i did after the shock of winning wore off. The only person that understands my excitement when i seen my name was my beautiful son Rory who was over the moon that i had won as i am at all who win with Sue, although like many others i think that just seeing Sue at work is magic all off it's own. Enjoy people.x
Well it is a beautiful day here at the Ochil Hills although perhaps a bit windy which will do my washing fine. Tomorrow is my friends birthday so i am meeting her before she starts work so that she can get her treasures that i have been squirriling away for the day. I love to see her eyes when she gets even the simpliest of gifts as they light up like the sun which is just what see needs the now poor thing as she has taken Bells Palsey once more which takes it's own time about rectifying itself. I hope that where ever you are you are enjoying a lovely day too and sending hugs to our Tracy, you're on the final leg my flower and you will so need this wee holiday after all you have been through this past long while but i'm sending you hugs to keep you going and to anyone else that needs them.

Good morning Sue and your amazing Wilsonettes. Beautiful card today Sue, as usual. You are so very talented!

So sorry I haven't had the time to visit the blog but there's been so much going on and the days are just not long enough.
I've just returned from a long trip to visit my oldest brother who suffered a stroke a few months ago. It was a wonderful visit and he's coming along very nicely. My other brother traveled there from Florida also so we had a nice reunion. It was sad not to have my youngest brother there...we lost him to cancer last summer.

Hi Sue. Not sure I like the colour scheme, but love the lay out. I suspect it may look better in real life. Have a great day. Hugs. Jan. xx

Hi Sue, saw this card on the table at Ally Pally, but didn't know how you achieved the effect. I have done something similar using mica powders. Will look out for these Pixie powders as I seem to have missed them at Ally Pally! Don't know how, perhaps I was just too busy looking at your new die release & compiling yet another list. Do like the Belgian dies in particular.
Congratulations to all the winners.

Beautiful card Sue! Would love to see a video of this technique as it looks amazing.
I am a big fan of Hochanda and think they have come a long way in a short time. They have technical issues just like C&C have at any live event and they will need to iron them out but I love the emphasis on demos and not the hard sell and constant emails getting read out along with the life story of certain presenters who think they are the star of the show and not the guest. I for one am looking forward to what the future brings with them and will give them a chance as they say Rome wasn't built in a day and we are all quick to criticise and very rarely praise the good service we do receive.

Hi Sue and everyone

Well once more another lovely card, and one I was lucky enough to see, along with the technique being demo'd by Sue at Ally Pally yesterday. I had a wonderful time and bought lots. Sue was really charming to everyone and genuinely loved chatting to people and helping them with any issues they had with their crafting. The whole event is run really professionally.

Unfortunately I didn't meet any Wilsonettes like last time, and Yvonne, I missed wearing your badge this time.

It took me four hours and forty five minutes each way (and four changes!) because of engineering works and Sunday service on the trains, but going home was worse because the train was so full.

I had to stand for the last hour as well, but worse still, some pervert on the pretence of leaning over to talk to his wife\girlfriend effectively pinned himself up against me with his arms on either side of me. This in itself was unpleasant, but as he left he slowly and purposefully ran his hand over my bottom! I was so angry, I turned to look at him and glared, and wanted to say something but he didn't look at me. I was shaking my head and muttering, but I felt really stupid and unable to say anything. I looked around but no one seemed to have noticed. Thankfully he walked back to another carriage. I just wanted to get home.

Sorry to vent this on here. On a more pleasant note I was able to see lots of Sue's gorgeous cards yesterday and I took photos of many. Imagine my sheer delight today to read the blog and discover I have won the Wednesday card giveaway, not only is it gorgeous it's one I photographed yesterday. I am so looking forward to receiving it and I will give it a good home.

Congratulations to all the comment winners, and thank you to all who congratulated me.

Sorry for the long post.

Love Helen xxx

Was able to see you demo this card at AP. Wonderful technique. Will try it later. Mine will be lighter as didn't get the dark blue. Silly me. Will have to remedy that. Am trying to get organised. Bought some storage boxes today for ink pads and colour cloud etc.,

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

So that's what pixie dust does! I was intrigued yesterday to hear a few ladies mention buying it at Ally Pally and I wondered what on earth it could be....I had no idea that the effects could be so cool. I remember you using this technique with mica powder and I loved it then, the way it bubbles like molten metal or lava is intriguing. It would be especially appreciated if you would do a video of this procedure with the pixie dust, for those of us not fortunate enough to watch you in person....bitter?Moi?.....I always follow instructions better if I witness them for myself:-) The colours you have chosen really appeal to me, the rich blue and a sprinkle of gold remind me of a crisp, frosty, midnight sky with twinkling stars, the frame really sets off the main event beautifully. Ooooh I wish that I could have been there stalking you and soaking up the excited atmosphere.....maybe next time.....
Well ladies, I've had the night and day from hell! I am literally dead on my feet after getting about an hours sleep last night. The reason for my insomnia was my little princess, Darcey who cried and scratched all night long....I had a suspicion that she has a urinary tract infection because she kept going out, coming back and then twenty mins later crying to go out again. She just wouldn't settle until 6am when she eventually came home and settled down. I've kept a close eye on her today because it's so difficult to tell with a cat if they are ill. She has continued to cry and scratch and ask to go out repeatedly today and I noticed her try but fail to do the toilet three times in ten minutes...the poor wee scone:-( So, off to the vet we go tomorrow and hopefully they can relieve her discomfort, you always worry when they reach a certain age that their kidneys are failing but fingers crossed it's nothing to panic about because she is only nine which isn't too elderly in cat years
A note about Hochandas performance, personally I was impressed with their coverage of Sues show, it was a sterling job for their first attempt and there is bound to be some teething problems in their first live broadcasts so we should all give them a break. I have been impressed with the amount of emphasis on the guest and their demonstrations and the speed of delivery of any items purchased compared with C&C.
Heather, my condolences on your loss, it's always hard to lose a loved onexxxx
Beth, how did it go with the dog sitters on Saturday? Did Lauren and Hannah enjoy the new attention?
Congrats to Helen and the other blog winners this week, enjoy your prizes as I did when I was fortunate enough to be chosen.....perhaps it will cheer you up after your experience on your journey home Helenxxxx
Jan, lovely to see you back with us, you have been missedxxxx
Hugs to Tracy on your last week of treatment:-)
Cuddles to Yvonne, Maria, Theresa, Rebecca, Linda, Lorraine, Lynda, Wheely bad, p, Pam and all in need of a bear hugxxx

Evening Sue
Well this time tomorrow I will be settled down to watch you and all your expertise gracing our screens - can't wait x
Am loving todays fabulous beauty of a card. Dark and moody with a mysterious sprinkle of sparkle thrown in. Loving the look that you have created with the Pixie Powders and am finding myself intrigued and really looking forward to seeing them in action in future demonstrations.
The sweetheart flowers were one of the dies that were at the top of my wish/want list but you have thrown a gigantic spanner in the works as the new launch approaches and there are many of the new sets fighting for pole position also x
Well done to the lucky winners - enjoy x
FRANCES - I am trying really hard to rest and not over tax myself x
HEATHER - so sorry for your loss - sending you a hug x
BETH - it's lovely to be back - can't tell you how much I miss everyone on the blog when I am unable to participate in the conversations. And obviously not being able to have my daily dose of Sue is a real downer. I saw your Cameo role on Saturday in the feature film - lol. You hid your nerves well - I think Hollywood may be in touch soon x
Am a little confused as to the mention of not being able to see Sue's demo as the captions were in the way. I had presumed there would be a lot more hiccoughs than there was seeing as it was the first show and I had no interference when I watched. Have not seen any of the other shows yet but am intending to try and watch them on catch up x
TRACY - I am not up to date with how things are with you having been absent for a while but reading between the lines it sounds like you are approaching the end of the next chapter. I have said it before and I will say it again - you have been an absolute trouper throughout this journey and hats off to you lovely lady. I have nothing but admiration for you - lots of love x
JAN - welcome back hun x
THERESA - so nice to be missed - makes one feel wanted. I bet you missed more than Laine though - admit it x
HELEN - I am sorry I was not able to provide you with a badge this time - I am still trying to get over my feelings of complete helplessness at my inability to make it this time. Fingers are well and truly crossed for September. I can't believe what happened to you on the train. I cannot guarantee that the man in question would have been able to walk at all had he touched my behind!! So pleased you won the card hun - hope it helps make up for the long journey x
LAINE - hope you get your baby sorted hun. You have got to be wide awake as there is a lot going on tomorrow evening x
Off for an early night. Still feeling a little out of sorts and can hear my Super King Size bed gently calling my name.
Take care everyone - happy thoughts
Crafty hugs
Yvonne

Hi Sue. Now my busy weekend is finished it will take me several days to get over it all !! It was so lovely to see you and chat to you at Alley Palley on Saturday. I was lucky enough to see you demo this technique personally !! I really love the card. The Pixie powders look very bright in real life and you produced such beautiful effects using them. I really loved the Teal one. ( I just love Teal !!) I must have a go at this when I get some Pixie powders. I love the black and white frames to. I think the whole card is very stunning and very dramatic !! I do love the beautiful little Sweetheart flowers you have used with the same technique as the background. I have these flower dies and they are wonderful. So cute !! I can't wait to see your shows on Hochanda starting tomorrow evening. Thank you for everything Sue lots of love from Tres x x x
