Just Because

Hi bloggers!  I thought I would round out the last single card post of the year with a buckle card as they are one of my favourite cards to make!  I embossed the background using the Tartan Trellis embossing folder for texture.  Next I cut two of the Canadian borders in white and glued them to the top and bottom of the card.  I ran a strip of adhesive pearls along the edge of both borders.  For the focal element, I cut the Montreal die in white and backed it with custard card for a soft yellow tone.  I cut the centre out to create a frame.  I cut two of the smaller die from the Montreal die set in white and backed them with custard card too.  I used the oval die in the set to cut them both into frames and I assembled my buckle card using a Pierced Flag die as the weaving piece.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the smallest die in the Vancouver set and seated it on the next die up in the Vancouver set.  Both pieces were added to the centre of the buckle card with mounting foam.  I added three white flatback pearls to each side of the strip and three smaller pearls below my sentiment.  I completed the card with a pierced white mat, a custard mat and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4"  x  9" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning sue and crafters.
What a smashing card. Never tried a buckle card. Will give a go at some point.

Well ladies another long day yesterday.
At hospital for 9 nurse there couldn't get blood either after 2 flushes still nothing so sent for X-ray to check the line was still in correct place.
Line was fine so a special drug flush was required after an hour to wIt after that was done bloods came fine.
Had to wait ages for chemo tho but at least it was done thank goodness. Left there at 5pm

Feel really sick this morning and hardly slept due to our roof springing a leak and having to go up there with a few buckets at 4 in the morning not good. Dunno if a roofer will come out in this weather but I'll phone around.
If it's not one thing it's another lol

Lorraine. Yeah I love my wig wear it all the time. Not keen on the scarfs but wear them around the house x

Beautiful card, like the idea of a buckle card. I see I am not the only one to welcome the return of the Canadian dies, these are on the shopping list with my Christmas token so I am glad of some ideas. Thank you.

Tracey S, did you get a rally dramatic wig or something that matched your original style? I had hoped to get an over the top platinum blonde wig but didn't lose all of my hair so couldn't persuade the powers that be that I needed one! That disappointment has been with me for twenty four years!! Now I am just going grey.

Pat S Witney: I went back over the blog comments to see who was asking for a wavy mask. Have you succeeded in getting one or would you like my spare?

Well, it is now two weeks after my cataract operation and I can no longer use the excuse of gentle activities only, which means the vacuum cleaner rather than the die cutting machine is priority. Rats!!!!

Good Morning, Sue,
Although 'good' is relative isn't it. It's not quite 11:30am and I'm so close to having to switch the room lights on it's just not funny! There's always an 'up' side though, after hearing the Tamar bridge is closed to high-sided vehicles because of the adverse weather, I'm smiling because further down here in Truro, for once it seems to be calm and dry...of course it was blowing a gale all night lol.
Today's card is another intricate one but it doesn't look quite as daunting as yesterday's did! I've not tried a buckle card as yet but I feel that I'm missing out as yours are always so very beautiful. Looks like I'm going to be adding more to my 'Sue Wilson Wish List' so that I can join in the fun.
As always, thanks for sharing, Sue.

Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
I do like your buckle cards Sue and especially when you do your soft focus ones that are white with an ivory cream backing to them. This is a bonny one today and with not so many buckles who knows i might even be able to get the hang of threading the ribbon through the buckles. I can see why you like doing these type of cards as they have that degree of intricacy that our brains thrive on and they stand out apart from the normal cards that anyone can make, so thank you Sue for a beautiful card and one that a few of us just might get the notion to have a go at.
Although it is not a nice day up here at the Ochils we are fortunate that not many people are on a flood risk unlike our friends in the lake district and yorkshire who just seem to be getting an endless deluge of water and wondering if they will ever return to normal. I so wish there was more that i could do for them but i hope that they can return to normality soon. Sending prayers thoughts and hugs to all our friends that need them,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Good evening Sue and her lovely Wilsonettes!

You are really excelling yourself this week Sue, I just adore today's card, the buckle design is gorgeous- I have never actually tried this style before but it really appeals to me so I have placed it in a special folder that I reserve for all of your cards that I simply must recreate.
I'm a big fan of the custard colour, the screen on my I pad doesn't do it justice though, but I would highly recommend splashing out on some as an alternative to basic creams.
I'm feeling very excited tonight, for the first time in ages...apart from before watching the Strictly final a couple of weeks ago of course!....yes, you're right Lorraine, I am officially approaching perky status so be afraid, be very afraid.....:-)
I think it's a mixture of Sues upcoming shows, the fact that the stress of Christmas has now been alleviated and the prospect that I will be partying the night away tomorrow for the first time in absolute ages- I do need a small reality check though, I'm no longer a fit and healthy twenty something and I will have limitations so I've decided to have a good lie in tomorrow in preparation and a slow quiet day getting ready....unfortunately it takes a bit longer to make myself presentable too, a few layers of industrial strength Polyfilla should do the trick:-)
The weather has been atrocious today in Central Scotland, the winds were wild and the rain was torrential, so I ventured out with great reluctance. I had a mission in mind though, not only did Brodie and Darcey need some M&S prawns but I was entrusted with the task of finding a 1kg steak pie for New Years Day....no mean feat in Scotland at this time of year let me tell you! I was in luck though, Waitrose had two left so I returned home with my wares, and many things we didn't really need into the bargain.....we all become a nation of survivalists at this time of year don't we, it's as if the shops aren't going to open again for another month the way we stock pile food, just in case....:-)
Tracy, my little cherub, what a time of year to be having a leak in your roof!, particularly with Storm Frank fast approaching- but you really have a great attitude, real wife of the year material, I hope hubby realises what a gem he has on his hands:-)
Your wig sounds amazing, I have a cropped style now but would really love a Beyoncé style wig, my friend has one and it's fab- I'm only 5 ft 1 and I think it would swamp me but still, Dolly Parton always had massive hair and she's tiny!
Lorraine, I would have had that money spent ten times over and then some by now, are you saving yourself for Sues shows? Icon.co.uk is a great site to get a bargain on, I use it a lot, and they offer free delivery if you spend a certain amount, £20 I think, so go on, splash the cash! Hmmm, Saba thinks I have oniomania, a terrible affliction which is characterised by uncontrollable urges to spend ludicrous amounts of money....maybe she has a point!
If I don't get a chance to post tomorrow due to my extensive pre party preparations, can I just wish all my blog buddies and the wonderful Sue a very Happy and prosperous New Year. Much love and hugs my friendsxxxx
