Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello there bloggers!  I'm sure many of you heard me say that I would be giving away the demo cards from the Hochanda shows on my blog.  So what better way than to include them in the Wednesday weekly card giveaway.  First up is the Mini Poinsettia striplet card.  For this one, I started by embossing the coconut white card background with the new Contemporary Poinsettia embossing folder.  I really like this folder as it is just a lovely floral texture background for your festive cards and projects.  Next I cut two of the Mini Poinsettia Striplets in white card and glued them together with permanent spray glue and matted them a white backing card.  Using the Berry Sparkle PVA glue, I filled in all the poinsettias and the double thickness of the two striplets allowed a bit of a reservoir to do so. Don't forget that the Berry Sparkle PVA glue starts out in the bottle looking very pink, but dries a beautiful sparkly red.  I have taken extra pictures of it so hopefully it will show just how pretty it dries.   Don't worry about staying within the lines of the flowers either, just try not to allow the glue to go into the background areas around the flowers.  I decided to leave them empty to show off the dimension, but you could easily use another glue colour to fill those in as well if desired.  Allow to dry well (I leave them overnight usually to be sure), then cut another poinsettia striplet and glue over the top so the lines are placed back in place!  I added small pearls to the centres of each flowers as accents.  Using the Classic Poinsettia die, I cut several in Rich red card to make some flowers for the corner.  I seated them on some white tulle and a messy bow tied from white seam binding.  I also added some Bakers Twine on the original (I may have missed this on the demo card)  Also, not shown in this photo, I added some Star Sprays in white around my flowers during the actual demo and finished it off with a pearl swirl.  Next I paper pierced a white mat, added a thin mat of rich red card and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 3/4" in size.

Please leave a comment if you would like to be included in the drawing for this card.  I am away at the Big Crafting Show at Ally Pally this weekend so the card winner and all of the comment game winners will be announced on Monday instead of their normal days.  I will however, be posting the winners of the latest die release later on today so don't forget to check back to see if your name has been drawn!!
On the right hand side of my blog, I have also added the show times for my next appearances on Hochanda.  It is a Friday night launch and all day Sat. this time around!   Phill Martin has a One Day Special today, though so be sure to tune in at 9am, 12pm, 4pm and 7pm to see his fabulous demos!  All for now, Sue x

Hi sue.
This card is really striking. When I watched u filling in the striplet I'm thinking noooooo this is not gonny work as it was pink and then going out the lines but I had faith in our sue if she says it's fine it'll work itself out.
But hey presto another die cut over the top then it dries hey presto a fabulous looking card.
Amazing stuff lol.
Would love to win it of course.
No ally pally for me either too far and I'm working anyways boo hoo another year perhaps.
Have fun everyone I'm well jealous. Such a horrible thing to be but yes I'm going green with envy lol xx

Hi Sue

I adore poinsettias, and I loved this card when I saw it. I'm trying to decide what to buy for my "not going to Ally Pally" shopping spree and the striplet is up there, for sure. The sparkly berry coloured poinsettia looks amazing and I reckon you could use a similar technique with other striplets.

Beth B, absolutely, yes! Let's have some "we're not at Ally Pally" mayhem! Sounds like fun :-) I have plenty of embarrassing stories and I'm not adverse to shaming myself!

Yvonne, you have summed up my Billy. A big hairy toddler, but yes he can have the odd tantrum... he stamps his foot if he's getting impatient, he lets out that noise like a "tut, huh" as he exhales if he's told to wait for something he wants like a stroppy teenager and if he wants something he can't get for himself he will yap in a high pitched way which for a dog of his size and appearance looks utterly ridiculous. It's his intelligence that makes him so communicative but if he wasn't so clever I'd need a lot more help.

Many congratulations to Julie and Lee on their 25th wedding anniversary, here's to the next 25! Mr W does the same for me and I'm thankful every day.

Janet Ecco, hope the scan results are good.

Alimecca, loved your computer story. Until I went to work in a centre that used PCs in 2001 I didn't have a clue about computers before then. The kids taught me as I went along as frankly... clueless!

Spent a grey afternoon playing music at obscene volumes...a ply to stay stay awake as well as blow out a few cobwebs- Until Billy started barking thinking the drums were knocking on the door! A real trip down memory lane some of it. Have watched a few of Phills shows too. Now going to hit the crochet for 3/4 of an hour till Mr W gets here while singing along to Thin Lizzy... like you do.

Good luck to everyone in the die draw, many thanks to both Sue and Creative Expressions who do this for us.

Sending hugs and smiles to all, plenty extra if they're needed,

T x

Good Evening Sue and the lovely Wilsonettes!

Oh, woe is me! I have been unsuccessful in my quest to be a prize winner yet again-I will try to console myself with the thought of adopting and framing this beautiful vision of glory. I promise to love and care for her, talk to and nurture her and be the best adoptive mum ever! Please consider my wounded and empty heart when you make your decision, I even have a whole room set aside for my new addition!
She is indeed a stunningly beautiful card and luckily I have all of the components, apart from the embossing folder so I feel a visit to Joanna sheen coming on! I love the technique with the cosmic shimmer glue, it adds just enough colour to an elegant, chic creation....oh how happy would I be if I actually won her...seriously though, many congratulations to Sues lucky recipients, I am sure that you will get many hours of fun with your prizexxxx
Boy, where has today gone, I meant to post much earlier than this but events ran away with me. Had a run of the mill morning beautifying myself and doing some chores before the Sainsburys shop was delivered. I then finished some rather extravagant looking boxes for some birthday cards, getting a liberal dose of diamond snow on Brodie as a result. He was truly Strictlyfied, and all that was missing was the spray tan so I decided to let him strut his stuff with an afternoon walk. All was going well until the bin lorry arrived earlier than usual much to his horror and he broke off his lead again! All was well however, he was so scared he followed me home on his belly the poor little mite and scampered in the house.
Beth, what a fantastic idea for those of us unable to attend Ally Pally, can the stories be risqué as well as embarrassing? It wll definitely cheer me up on what is sure to be a miserable day. I too felt like a prize plonker this week when the emergency electrician rushed out to sort our power cut only to flick a switch that had been thrown by a faulty kettle...oh, the shame!
Rebecca, do you think that we could comiserate together this weekend, maybe we could set up a support group for those disadvantaged by their absence from Ally Pally?Thats if you can remember of course:-)
Julie, Happy Anniversary! Hope you get some crafty goodies as a resultxxxx
Yvonne, I don't intend to besmirch your flawless reputation, it's merely sour grapes because I can't get to meet Sue and sample your delicious cakes. Granted you may be off your rocker but you're in good company, I've been certifiable for years!
I can assure you that if I were ever in a position to meet lovely Sue I would be adorned in all my finery as befits a meeting with royalty.
How kind of you to offer me an audience with your good self also, I should be honoured to meet my elder mentor in skulduggery and playful banter. However, don't feel sorry for me as I'm used to people's pity , good looks, intelligence and wit are just a cross I have to bearxxx
Off to watch Bake off, yum!

Love and crafty hugs
