Sparkle and Shine

Hello crafters!  A frosty background and shiny poinsettias make for a lovely festive card for friends and family!  Today's video shows you exactly how to achieve this!

I almost forgot to mention that the voting is now open for the Crafts Beautiful Awards this year.  I have been nominated in two categories, Best Blog and Best Designer.  I am very excited to be nominated and would just love it if you would take a few minutes to vote.  Here is the address where to go for it.http://www.crafts-beautiful.com/awards/

I did post the winners to the die launch yesterday afternoon and they have not all been claimed yet.  Please scroll down to see if your name is on the list!

The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue
Today's gift is just a wonderful traditional work of art.
You cannot go wrong with red/white for Christmas and today your background die
just does all the work and stands proud centre stage.
Who wouldn't wish for something so beautiful to land on their door mat. I certainly would. I bought this die and it looks gorgeous each and every time it comes through the machine. I think it's one of the best I've bought and I shall be using it throughout the year as it's 'not just a Christmas die'.

Congratulations to all the launch winners. I just could not believe it when I saw my name.

To all in pain and suffering Ihope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Congratulations to all of the lucky winners of Sue's latest die launch, enjoy your prize!
I must tell you that I ordered the new Pierced Square and Rectangle dies and they are absolutely HUGE!!!!!
So worth every penny of the £29.99 I paid for them and they will get plenty of use, it's strange because I knew what size they were
Physically as I read the measurements, but I was shocked when the postman handed them to me, I think that these will be one of your
Most popular die sets Sue, congratulations on your nominations, I am off to vote.

Morning Sue
As always a gorgeous card. I adore your background dies. Having said that all your dies are the best. Thank you for bringing such happiness into so many peoples lives by sharing your outstanding creativity with all of us.
Only 2 more sleeps to go. How excited am I - on a scale of 1-10 it must be a 20!! Be afraid Sue x
Congratulations to all the lucky lucky lucky winners. I bet you haven't stopped smiling. I don't mind telling you that I am so jealous. Wishing you all hours of fun x
I was a little surprised not to see my name on the list. I thought it was a dead cert that I was going to be a winner this time. Then I realised that seeing as I am Sue's favourite that obviously it would not be politically correct for her to let me win. After all if you realized I was the favourite it could upset you all x
Well done everyone. Try and contain your excitement until your new arrival x
Norah - oh my goodness, you sent me off into the world of my imagination reminiscing about my childhood toys. One of my favourites was a small ball in the bottom of my mums old tights. It was then tied round my right ankle. The purpose of the game was to swing it round maintaining a rhythm in order to rotate the ball over and over again whilst jumping over it with my left foot. Hope that makes sense. I was a bit of a champion in our street which was heavily populated by children of all ages due to the fact that we had no road to worry about. We would be out all day and when it was time to go in more often the not we were covered in dirt and bruises - those were the days - thank you so much for helping to remind me of that. Can think of so many more toys and games - many of them homemade but they can be saved til another time through fear of me being here all day. That said - does anyone remember dibs? x
Julie - Happy Silver Wedding Anniversary for yesterday - I hope you had a lovely day however you celebrated. 25 years is a milestone. Here's to the next 25. Lots of love x
Wheely Bad - Thin Lizzy - a blast from the past. You and Norah have had me thinking about so many things I'd forgotten about. What about ELO? x
Lorraine - prepare yourself because I'm just about to be nice to you (shock horror)! I would be over the moon if you could make it to Ally Pally. It has become evident over the last couple of months that we could be very good friends. I so get your sense of humour as it seems to be as twisted and flippant as mine. I will keep my fingers crossed so that you will be able to make it to Ally Pally in the future so we can cause mayhem together in an extremely infantile manner purely for our own entertainment. Have a good day lovely lady x
Maria - I can do rowdy no problem - is my bringing homemade cake an appropriate bribe to get them all to be nice to me? x
Melody - thinking of you - sending you all lots of love x
Must dash - need to cast my vote.
Have a lovely day everyone.
Crafty hugs

Good afternoon lovely Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes,

Oh...I just love video days, especially when they feature your gorgeous Christmas cards. What's not to love about this little beauty, the colour combo is my favourite this year...I've bought some red in preparation....a bit annoyed with myself that I don't have the snowflake background though, I bought the frosty mini background last time instead so I feel a visit to Icon coming on:-) my friend and I plan to have a few craft days to show her how to create a Sue Wilson Christmas card and this could be an ideal starting point, not too difficult but stunningly effective. Special mention should be given to the glossy poinsettias, I've bought some lacquer just to try these out.
My Mum has taken custody of our joint bank card after my recent excesses , I've been offered supervised visitation rights in a fortnight but I don't know how I'm going to cope in the meantime, particularly when the best way to save my disappointment at not being able to go to Ally Pally would be to buy copious amounts of dies, EF folders and diamond snow(you can never have too many pots after all!).
I've been avoiding my craftroom today because I have a pesky male card looming, and it's an 80th birthday to boot! I am toying with the idea of using glitter, micro beads, ribbon and stick pins because I really can't bring myself to do plain and simple. I think he will like whatever I do though hopefully- I once sent him a decoupaged hospital scene with doctors, nurses and an ambulance when he was having a knee replacement and he still has it! He's a typical Yorkshireman with a certain type of humour that can be as sick and twisted as my own so I think it wouldn't offend his delicate sensibilities if I sent him an effeminate boxed card.
I've been wracking my frazzled brain for toys that I used to play with when I was younger- I loved card games, Monopoly and Twister when it was raining- I'm unhealthily competitive and perhaps my Mum held dreams of me becoming a professional poker/ bridge player.
Unlike today's kids I loved playing outside, we used to love elastics, Kerby which was a game where you would stand on parallel pavements trying to bounce a football off the opposite kerb, riding my Chopper bike and playing Chap door Run! Yes,I was a little cheeky scamp even back then, oh, my mis spent youth!
Jan, what a massive compliment you pay me and Louise, whilst I know that i am most definitely funny, witty and entertaining Yvonne still has a lot to learn:-) I am tutoring her in the art of cheeky repartee and if I say so myself she's coming along nicely because even I find her risqué and borderline offensive at times:-) but seriously, Thankyou because my friends and family I feel do not fully appreciate my quirky sense of humour.
Yvonne, in all seriousness, I will definitely make the trip to Ally Pally next year because next to meeting Sue I would love to get up to mischief with my buddy, we are kindred spirits and could possibly get ourselves chucked out or arrested! I hope that you are managing to get that much needed rest this week so that you have plenty of energy for your assault on Ally Pally and dare I say it sue:-) I am dribbling at the thought of your cakes though, could you maybe make a cheesecake next time, it would be much appreciated!
I hope you all have a fabulous time at the weekend, it's a dream of mine to meet Sue, she is such a superstar, admittedly I am just a little bit envious but I will console myself with the thought that I will be there next time.
I've voted already for you and Creative Expressions Sue in every available category so fingers crossed that you will get the accolades you so richly deserve xxx

Love and crafty hugs

Love it! I'm designing our Christmas card this year using the snowflake background and like the idea of coating die cuts with the crystal.

Fabulous card Sue, definitely one of my favourites. Great video too, you make it look so easy.
Will go and vote for you now and hopefully this year you will win!!!!!!

Another lovely red-and-white Christmas card, Sue, do like the shiny poinsettias - just like some patent red stilettos from my far flung youth. Very tarty actually - shoes that is, not your flowers! Thanks again for the great video.
Lynda - thanks and best wishes to Lynne M and Sam if you do 'speak' to them.
Melody - thinking of you all and hoping today not too gruelling.

Good afternooon Sue and the WIlsonettes,
Firstly congratulations to all the lucky Wilsonettes that won yesterday, i wish you a lot of happiness in using your new gift of pleasure and thank you Sue for making so many peoples dreams come true with your generousity and kindness.
Todays card is stunning Sue in the white with the red gloss poinsettia's making quite an impact on it. THe hint of red in the background is just enough to draw the whole thing together. I do like that snowflake back ground die Sue as i think that it would be greatly used by me but i'll wait until the pennies are saved up to get it. I love how we get to decide just how big a border we want on it and not be forced into something smaller that might not suit our project. THank you Sue for another stunning WOW card as your inspiration is so much sought after. I hope that you are having a fantastic time at the AP with all your loyal fans that can get to see you.
I've had my friends wee grandson this morning and then my own grandson came and that is when the fun started as Lee(my friends grandson) has a new wee cousin who is just 4 weeks old and his name is.....Harry. Well "Harry" just didn't look like how he had last seen him and it wasn't his Auntie Suzi that was with him either. Talk about confused, the poor bairn must have thought that he was going nuts and his imagination was playing up when he seen "my" Harry. We've got to tell him to be gentle as he likes to bounce the bouncy seat off the carpet and up in the air, but we got that bit sorted. Next was exploring Harry's face with his fingers....in the eys, ears, nose, mouth you name it he found it and then the pattingon the head although i say that in the very loosiest of terms as i was glad to get him away from the wee lad as i thought Kirsten was going to take a flakey at it all. I took Lee away to see his Harry and for playing at his auntie Suzi's house, picked Rory up from college and got back home for kirsten to leave Harry with me until she went shopping. I am quie pooped out this afternoon because of them all.

Another inspiring video. Thank you. Your card today is a stunner in classic Christmas colors of red and white. Lots of bling and shine too. Thanks for the reminder about using different gradients of the oval dies to make an interesting frame. You think in 3D and I am hoping someday 3D will automaticly come to my mind. I voted for you in several categories including writing your name in a couple of places. Wishing you luck! You are the BEST!!!

Hello sue an everyone. Love today's card the flowers look so pretty being all shinny I have watched the video and I love all them all.oxoxox
My nan an grandad are still not home from London yet an I won't be able to see her because it will be to late mum an dad don't really say much because of the girls but I no granddad ain't very happy today because he had the chemo for nothing because they stopped it it's not worked on making his growth any smaller so they don't think they can do the op to remove it so he had the chemo for nothing all its done is made him feel more unwell an made his long hair fall out. Dad said he wished thy could of carried on with the chemo for bit longer. Th doctors today are telling him what they can do now that he might not be having the op. Fed brought him a shaver for his hair today because it looks really funny with bits of hair that didn't come out yet so dad is going to shave the little bit that's left. My nan is really going to be upset when she gets home because after school me an mum took milly nan best cat to the vets because she as been crying after she eats her dinner an the vet said he needs an op as well at the back of her mouth. My nan use to breed cats Persian rag doll cats before she got cancer an milly was the 1st cat she brought and there is Sid who is Molly's husband an then baby who is there daughter an then mini an blinky who is baby's sons which is Molly's grandsons. Nan never meant to keep mini an blinky but when nan got cancer an she was having treatment the kittens were born an because nan didn't get them registered they didn't end up goin to new homes an nan ended up keeping all the kittens so she as 8 cats now but there was 13 but some have died over time. Nan don't breed anymore because of her getting cancer but she loves all the cats but milly is like her baby an sits with nan all the time an she follows her even to the bathroom. Dad says milly thinks she is a dog an not a cat an now mum an dad have got to tell nan the bad news dad said he don't no how much more nan can take. But I no my nan will say yes to milly having the op she won't care howmuch the op costs because she lloves milly.
Thank you to everyone that as sent kind words for my nan an granddad today I no granddad will be happy when I give him the list I wrote down.
Mum said I can still leave comments today even tho the lady on Facebook said I should not mum said I need to show nan an she will no if I am still allowed to or not. I hope I can because I love sue an this blog an all you really nice people. Mum said its just someone being nasty and my nan asked sue if I was allowed an sue said yes. Thank you everyone Molly oxoxox

Hi Sue, beautiful card and great video. I can do this! (she says hopefully) as I have most of the dies.

Molly - sorry your nan now has the added worry about her cat; being owned currently by three cats myself I can fully understand. Fingers crossed that the news about your granddad is better than you think.

Lynda - thanks for the update, please keep us posted.

Hello Sue
This is a truly stunning card, I enjoyed watching the video, very informative as ever and I shall definitely be attempting this as the snowflake background is one of the gorgeous dies I bought.
The postman delivered my noble pierced squares( amongst others) today and Sue they are fabulous!!!

Ang or should we now call you Betsy! you made me laugh, haven't heard that one before.
Lorraine, speaking as a Yorkshire lass, we have a very dark humour so your 80 year old will appreciate anything on his card which will make him laugh, just write E Bye Gum on the front. That'll do it.
Melody my thoughts and prayers are with you and Francis at this worrying time.

Molly, I used to have a Rag Doll cat, she was called Schätzle it's German for little sweetheart and she was. You are also a little sweetheart and if Sue and your Mum and Dad are happy for you to comment here then don't let the person on Facebook upset you. We all look upon you as our little Wilsonette and enjoy reading your comments.

Love and Hugs for all
