Christmas Double Days

Hi crafters!  I hope you aren't feeling bombarded by the Festive cards lately!  I just seem to have so many of them to show!  This first card up today started with the Star Swirl embossing folder on a piece of coconut white card to give some texture to the background.  I wanted to bling it up a bit so I sprayed it with my permanent spray adhesive then coated it with Diamond Sprinkles.  Next I cut the Frosty Mini Background die in coconut white card, leaving a thin border around it as a frame.  I covered a piece of clear acetate with a sticky adhesive sheet, peeled the backing off and sprinkled it with mica flake chips.  I do have to tell you however, this colour was a sort of experiment as I asked if they could be done in an aqua colour and this is what they sent me.  I personally wouldn't call these aqua, but I did rather like the colour nonetheless.  However, I am not certain whether they have been added to our mica flake line at Creative Expressions.  If you like them, let me know and I am sure we can get them! I backed it with a piece of white card so that they were encapsulated between and attached the Frosty Mini Background over the top of it.  I cut a frame from the Peeking Snowflake set and added it on top of the mini background with some mounting foam.  I cut two of the Winter trees, sprayed them then coated them with Silver Chrome polished silk glitter and added them to the side of the oval frame.  I stamped my sentiment, embossed it in silver and cut it out with the Pierced Flags and tucked the end under my trees.  I dyed a length of white seam binding using Evergreen Bough distress ink as it matched my mica flakes perfectly, tied a messy bow and scrunched it up to dry naturally before adding to the card.  I completed the card with a white pierced mat, and a slightly larger white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is a sort of vintage
looking Christmas card I think.  I started with the Contemporary Poinsettia embossing folder and a piece of milk card.  Once embossed, I used a smoothie and added some Antique Linen distress ink and just a hint of Tattered Rose to warm it a bit.  On another piece of milk card, I stamped the Twas The Night Before Christmas Background (drawn by John Lockwood) and embossed it in gold.  I used my paper cutter to cut it on the inside of the lines, then backed it with a piece of dusty rose card where I had stamped it again so the outer lines would show and embossed it in gold as well.  I used Distress Markers to colour it (Tattered Rose and Victorian Velvet for the flowers, Crushed Olive and Forest Moss for the leaves).  I stamped it again and then cut out an extra poinsettia to add to the stamped image.  I used some thin antique white satin ribbon in the corner.  I cut out the Joy Wreath in both milk card and gold card and used it as a shadow behind the letters.  I mounted it diagonally down the centre of the card.  I added a Tattered Rose inking in the centre of the wreath and then added the outline over the top of it.  I finished the card with a pierced milk mat, a dusty rose mat (card from my stash) and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue & WW!
Sue, I am pleased I was able to vote from the U.S. Of course I voted for you!!! You should definitely win in both categories! I hope you'll be able to vote after all Val in Spain.
Yesterday's card is so pretty! I haven't had the chance to watch video yet, but I know I'll enjoy it-I always do! I always learn something new too. I even have the background die - yay!
Oh oh! I have to interrupt this post! The first Thursday Night Football (American :) of the season... It was a nail-biter but the Denver Broncos won it! WooHooo! So happy I took the night off to enjoy it. Ok, I doubt anyone else cares, but I couldn't contain my excitement!!
Mrs. Duck, Ang- u had me slapping my thigh laughing! Not a phrase I'd heard b4 either. But it cracked me up :)
E.L.O. huh? Haven't thought of them, or Thin Lizzy in a VERY long time!
Yvonne (aka Louise) when u say "dibs" do you mean some kind of a game - or as in "I dibs that!"? If it's the latter, I totally remember it! I'm the youngest of 5, so I had to be quick with my shouts of dibs if I wanted any chance of getting the first or best of something. As a side note, u r probably right that Sue didn't want her favoritism towards you to show-hence u couldn't b awarded any of the dies. I guess there is a downside to being the teacher's pet!
Thelma & Louise, I do hope u can meet in person sometime! Although I'd like you to video your meeting so the rest of us can enjoy! It would be much like watching a tennis match I think, what with the back & forth banter. Thoroughly entertaining! Just don't go driving near any cliffs!
To those who are going to Ally Pally, I wish you the greatest of fun! It's probably a good thing we can't all go or Sue would need a body guard! Actually, she might need one if Laine were able to go! Just kidding Laine, I couldn't resist :) I have to say tho sometimes when I read what many of us say, myself included, I worry Sue might think we are stalkers or something! I promise we aren't! Well, at least I know I'm not!
I see a new post is out! A Friday two for! And both cards are stunning! I don't mind the festive at all! In fact, bombard away- I love them! I might feel a little different come January tho lol!
Beth B. Hope u r well and just too busy to post for a few days.
I hope the day offers up a smile for every single one of you! I know this blog gives me at least one smile a day! Rebecca in Colorado

Hi sue

Both the cards are beautiful in their own way but I am leaning towards the second. I love the vintage look. I can never have too many Christmas cards. It has always been a happy time for me fortunately, right from childhood probably down to what family and I have made of it.

Thanks for sharing good luck tomorrow though you won't need it.

Hi Sue. You can't show too many Christmas cards as far as I am concerned. The only problem I have is deciding which ones I use as inspiration for my own cards as I love them all : )
My comment on yesterdays gorgeous card has vanished so I just want to say again that I love it, the shiny Poinsettias pop on that beautiful background.
I am sure you are flat out getting the stand ready for the weekend at Ally Pally. Will you manage to garb a few minutes rest later today or are you on the go now until afterwards when the stock is all back in the warehouse I wonder?
I hope that you enjoy yourself as much as we do. Seeing you and watching your wonderful demos and the samples on your stand are the high point for me, thank you for all that you do. Only 1 sleep now : ) Hugs to everyone. Take care x

Morning Sue
What a feast of Christmas!!
I like your first offering but I have to say that your second is just stunning. It looks so so traditional and opulent and although there's a lot of work gone into the making it is so worth every minute.
I have to say that it's the best Ccard I have seen in a long time and if it came through my door it wouldn't be taken down on twelfth night.

We have a dry day here at the moment and so housework is the order of the day and after that who knows.
To all going to Alley Pally this week-end have a really good time. I'm not one little bit envious - I'm not really I'm not - well perhaps just a bit - just a lot!!!!!
I look forward to one or two pics from you Sue perhaps if you have the time.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue,

Love both cards - you're right about the mica flakes though, they're not Aqua, more like a Blue Spruce we've had to chop down recently, very sad about that but as soon as I saw that background it reminded me of that tree...love the warmer Victorian feel of the second card too - clever cutting to give a double frame, sets off the focal point nicely...

Two lovely cards today, Sue can never have too many. Keep bombarding - very appropriate in Battle of Britain week! Favourite definitely the first, love those trees and the wayward colour aqua flakes too.
Hope you, Sue, and all have a great time at Ally Pally and Yvonne G doesn't cause too much havoc! Hope we get some pics and feedback.
Molly, keep posting, lovely one. So sorry nan and grandad having a tough time and now Milly cat too, so unfair. Animals are very resilient and thankfully (not like us) have no comprehension of what is to happen, so hopefully all will be well with her. I'm another cat person (love all animals) so do sympathise.

Good morning Sue,

You can never bombard me with too many Christmas cards. There is so much choice in your array of cards. Some leaning towards the traditional and others contemporary for the youngsters.
I've bought the stamp and although I am not much of a stamper this one 'sang' to me, buy me buy me buy me! How could I resist?

Yesterday was rather a sad day for me and family, it was the funeral of grandson Joe, aged just 20. He was a beautiful young man with sparkling blue eyes and a gorgeous smile with dimpled cheeks kissed by the angels. Hid Dad and Dad's friends led the funeral procession on their Harley D's and other bikes. A wonderful sight, there is something rather gracious about the deep throaty growl of a classic bike.
A wonderful tribute to Joe.

Lovely warm fuzzy comfort blanket hugs today for those in need of one and for those who would like one just because.

Love & hugs

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes – NO way do I feel bombarded with your festive cards; we are all immensely privileged & grateful that you contribute your cards to share with us daily, so bring em on, & what a dazzling festive twofer you have for us Sue,love the colour on 1st card. I tried inking a ribbon once but I kinda spoil it with splodges, using the smoothies I’ll def’ give it another try. The Mica Flakes Sue, is the colour ‘MRYTLE GREEN’? If so I have this in my stash from CE,the blend of colours are simply striking with a glimmering touch of Emerald. As much as the 1st card has that spectacular Wow factor & totally delights my senses the 2nd card has simply sparked an ignition; Lol. I think it is the vintage colour in this card which is very traditional & the stamped background stands out – okay which is my fave – both of course; as much as the 2nd sparked I still adore them both equally. Thank you immeasurably Sue for sharing X x x

Sincerest CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of the launch, how fantastic that Sue’s generosity has given you a gift to treasure for always. Enjoy your prizes x x x

LYNDA & REBECCA – very kind of you to ask after me my friends, thankfully I just had a very busy & tiring day, I was exhausted because of what I had achieved. I had work of course, I cleaned out the fridge & freezer, ready for the batch meals that I also made for Mr B using slow cookers, but it was also Lauren’s 13th birthday & it really was an entertaining sight to see her tear open her presents with wide eyed enthusiasm, Hannah helped & had one to open aswel. I have a really funny story about one of my collies & Xmas presents but I shall save that for tomorrow. (Remember my friends who are commiserating tomorrow with a funny story please keep it cleanish (Lorraine – Lol) but as side-splitting as you can make it as we have our young friend Molly reading our comments – Lol) x x x

MOLLY – lovely to know that you are still commenting & sincerely hope that you are able to put aside the unkind comments on Facebook – you are a very brave, caring young lady with a very brave & loving family & also an important part of Sue’s caring blog. Even if I do not write it here on the blog daily Molly, there isn’t a day that I forget to offer up prayers & thoughts to you & your family in anticipation that they will find a way to help your granddad – Lauren & Hannah send (((HUGS))) & licks to your grans poorly cat – but shush don’t tell little kitty that they come from doggie 4 paws x x x

ALLY PALLY – to all the lovely lucky ladies going to AP I wish you all pleasant & uneventful journeys. Be kind to your cards & purses – not, & remember that TENA’s are the standard issue for the day & in all your excitement they shouldn’t be forgotten – not directing that at anyone in particular eh Yvonne – Lol. Envious – of course especially if Mr B’s shifts hadn’t been changed I could have been there with you, but as a little girl my Nan once said that I should never be “envious of others good fortunes because every day is a good fortune to be thankful for” & I kinda like to stick to that rule so without further ado I sling envy out of the window & convey to you all to please have a wonderful time this weekend (although you don’t need me to tell you to do that Lol). LYNDA – thank you my friend, I’m also disappointed that I won’t be meeting yourself & other friends at AP but we will meet up, my friend, one day soon, so you go & have a great time. X x x

If I have missed commenting on anyone’s Birthday, Anniversary etc then please accept my apologies & I send you love ‘ n’ (((HUGS))) x x x Have a great weekend Sue & I wish you & CE every success oh & I have voted for you & CE in every place that I could, can’t think of anyone or any company for fabulous products who are more deserving x x x Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to you Sue & ALL lovely Wilsonettes Beth B x x x

I really love both cards today although the first card is my favourite!
The "aqua" colour in the first card looks more like a soft sage on my screen and I love it.
Oh, how I wish could come to AP and meet up with you and your Wilsonettes, it would be such fun! However, I will be thinking about you all having a great time.
I am looking forward to starting my Christmas cards with my new SW dies but as I don't make them all I don't usually start until the beginning of October.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Morning Sue, Two lovely cards today and I like the way that you have placed JOY on the diagonal. Those EFolders on both cards are so pretty. Both are my favourites for today! Busy packing and cleaning the house ( but why do we women want to leave a clean house and then clean it again on our return?) or is it just me? Hugs xx Pauline A

Morning Sue
I don't think anyone would ever feel bombarded by any number of your cards - festive or otherwise. We are honoured that you so openly and generously share your creations with us so often.
Both of the cards are so festively fabulous and so different. I love them both and can think of many people who would be over the moon to receive either of those cards.
Only one more sleep. Hoping that I don't wake up tomorrow morning unable to make it. I have done everything possible to ensure I am 'up to it'. In other words I've been lazy and resting appropriately as advised by the experts to try and keep the fatigue at bay. Have to say it doesn't always work but seems to be doing the trick at the moment.
Falling asleep may prove more difficult due to my frenzied elation at the upcoming event of the year - meeting Sue. Sue may have trouble sleeping due to pure fear of the impending doom of being overwhelmed by pure admiration by myself and I am sure many others x
Myra - you are right ELO was the Electric Light Orchestra. It doesn't have another meaning as far as I am aware. I am sure if it has someone will let us know x
Jan - Ally Pally is a big Crafting 'show'. It is held twice a year in April and September in Alexandra Palace North London. Always full of mostly women acting like kids in a sweetshop. I am glad that the banter that is exchanged between Lorraine and myself make you smile. This blog is fantastic isn't it? I so enjoy being a part of it and the pure warmth of the Wilsonette family is such a blessing. Lots of love x
Lorraine/Thelma - you just can't help yourself can you? I was nice to you when I commented yesterday and even pointed this out in case you missed it. However you still couldn't resist having a dig by implying that it is you who is far superior in the art of sarcasm and shameless disregard for diplomacy. I don't mind making a cheesecake but there is a chance that you may end up wearing it as oppose to eating it! By the time I have finished filling Sue in on the finer points of your somewhat questionable character then your hopes of meeting her will become the impossible dream. And of course seeing as I am her favourite she will believe every word I say. Have a nice day x
Norah - hilarious but I do understand the confusion with the Harry situation. It would have thrown me. Lol. Hope you aren't so pooped today x
Molly - unfortunately some people have nothing better to do than be spiteful. Completely ignore whatever this individual has said. They are obviously very unhappy and unpopular to have to concentrate on trying to make someone else miserable. You carry on. I am sure you must know how much you are loved and I think you are an incredibly mature and delightful young lady with a huge heart of gold. Big hugs for you x
Melody - sending you lots of love x
Rebecca - dibs was a game involving five small square clay stones which were thrown into the air a you had to catch them on the back of your hand. Sounds terribly boring I know but in those days we were so much more easily pleased than the youngsters these days. 'I dibs that' is a term used by my boys a lot. It usually is connected to left over takeaway.
Being teachers pet is a huge cross to bear and does, as you so rightly point out have it's downside. I will battle on with this burden courageously.
Can I just point out that if Lorraine(aka Thelma) were attending I think Sue might possibly go awol or at least be in heavy disguise. Lol x
Sandra - looking forward to seeing you although I am a little worried about the reputation that seems to be preceding me. Lorraine seems to have done her best to paint such an unsavoury picture of me that I fear a collective sending me to Coventry. Lol x
Sorry - got to split todays comment in 2 as it won't all fit - far to much to say for my own good x

Princess Pixie! said...

'P'in Wales - what on earth makes you think I'm going to cause havoc - I think you are mistaking me for some other. Lol x
Cheryl - my heart goes out to you. He sounds like a lovely young man. What a wonderful and appropriate send off. Sending you a warm hug and lots of love x
Beth B - welcome back. Was wondering where you'd gone. I think you might be better off banning Lorraine from commenting. It would be more successful than hoping that she will keep it clean! Lol. Thank you for your concern about my need for Tena - the matter is in hand. Admiration for your ability to 'not be envious'. I struggle with that one when it comes to craft x
Off now to prepare for my adventure tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting all of you lovely Wilsonettes who will be there.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Good evening lovely Sue and the beautiful Wilsonettes,

My favourite day of the week at the moment is our twofer Fridays, I simply cannot get enough of your Christmas designs Sue, I need all the inspiration I can get and without your kind help my cards would pale in comparison. I don't normally have favourites but today card one just edges it for me- I am loving the cool, frosty, wintery tones this year as opposed to the more traditional golds and green so the first one really caters to my preference. I would love to see the mica flakes in action in one of your videos too if atall possible. Thankyou for continuing to spoil us even when you are so clearly snowed under. I do hope that you have managed to recharge your batteries in time for tomorrow and that you have a fantastic time bathed in the adulation of your adoring Wilsonettes- please take some pictures so that those of us who can't make it can get a sense of the occasionxxx
To Yvonne,Sandra and her posse, Theresa, Maria and all of my dear friends from this wonderful blog who are fortunate enough to be attending tomorrow, hope you have a fantastic time , spend loads of cash, and best of all get to meet our very special lady , Sue.
I plan to use my sadness tinged with envy as a motivator to get me to the next show in April because I am desperate to meet you all....and the restraining order against me will have expired so I can then go within touching distance of lovely Sue:-)
Yes Rebecca, I fear that Sue may not welcome the unhealthy level of adulation from some quarters, my own esteem for her falls within respectable levels I feel but others may not show a similar restraint...naming no names of course!...I just hope that Sue has come equipped with pepper spray and a taser gun in case things get out of hand:-) I too used to watch American Football back in the day when I was in my teens, I supported the Dolphins and Dan Marino and my best friend loved the Chicago Bears. It's been a long time since I watched it though, it's not as popular on the tv here as it was in the late eighties.
Beth, glad to see your okay my friend, miss you when your AWOL- glad to hear that Lauren enjoyed her birthday, what did you get her? I think we'll need to offer each other emotional support tomorrow in response to our unfortunate absence from the festivities- maybe you will be able to go in April too and we could meet up?
Cheryl, my deepest condolences for the loss of Joe, it must have been a terrible shock to you and your loved ones, but what a fitting send off, I'm sure he would have approvedxxxx
Dearest Molly, I am angered that somebody has tried to spoil your involvement with Sues blog. You are a valued member of our community and we look forward to your posts so please pay no attention to the spiteful comments of someone whose sole purpose in life is to spread misery, they are sad and pathetic and don't deserve a minute more of your time so please don't take it to heart.I'm so sorry to hear about Millie, I am too am 'owned' by cats and they are the most wonderful companions, I do hope that the vet can help Millie because it would mean so much to your family.
Melody, my heart goes out to you, you have so much to contend with at the moment, my prayers are with you, Frances and little Millie, big hugsxxxx
Well 'Louise', I hope that you are fully rested for tomorrow and ready to meet our great leader. I am sure that you will behave with the upmost dignity and decorum as is becoming of the teachers pet. I get the feeling that I am in your bad books but I implore you not to abuse your position as top girl to sully my reputation before I am given the opportunity to do so myself in April. Have a wonderful time and I look forward to hearing all about it when you've recovered...or released on bail, whichever happens first:-)xxxx
See you tomorrow girls!xxx

Crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxxx

Hi Sue, 2 beautiful cards today the 2nd one with the joy die is lovely but must admit I love the 1st one with your tree die.mhave. Great weekend Take Care Melody xxxXxxx

Thank you ladies for your support to Molly, some woman on Facebook as sent her a message to say she should not be posting on here because it's not a place for kids, an told her that a lot of the ladies from this blog have said kids shouldn't be leaving comments taking the chance of one of them winning give always, now as much as Molly would love to win something like everyone else would, she already as a card from sue which her dad framed for her which she as on her bedroom wall, she does her little post because of her love of crafting an sue. She as been so upset by what I been hearing from her mum an as said if it's because she might ever win something could I tell sue to not put her name in to be picked so that she can still be part of the blog.

It saddens me to think that grown women would say such things to a little girl who as a heart as big as a small country. I am telling her to do her posts as an when she wants unless sue says otherwise. Again thank all of you that have tried to put her mind at rest.

And thank each an everyone of you that keep sending you best wishes to myself an Francis an now my dear little milly. She will have an operation next Thursday an hopefully she be ok.you wouldn't believe what a little cat could mean to me right now. Take care Melody xxxXxx

You are so gifted!!! I wish I had the talent and gifts that are in your baby finger!!!
I just don't see it in my head. I can copy yours and add my own little things here and there, but I can never start from scratch. Thank You, Thank You, for all your inspiration and help.
To create such beautiful creations....I am at Ah!!! and so grateful for you sharing with us so I can create them too. Because I know I could never create these without your inspiration and guidance. You are truly blessed. And we are all truly blessed for sharing all your lovely creations with us so we can make them too.

Hello Sue, and all the ladies.
I can't believe that I didn't leave a post about these cards yesterday. They are both works of art and completely beautiful.
Enjoy AP.

Your cards are so beautiful. The first one reminds my senses of the fresh cut pine smell of the evergreen trees! I like the colors, too. The poinsettia card is lovely with the pink and gold. Pink is one of my favorite colors of poinsettias to use in my home during Christmas. Thank you for sharing.
