Christmas Double Day

Hello there my crafty friends!  Both cards today are more on the CAS (clean and simple) side, no flowers, no extra frills and loads of white card!  I started this one by cutting an aperture in the middle of a piece of coconut white card with the oval from the Peeking Snowflake die set.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it.  I used one of our newer embossing folders called Star Swirls to emboss the piece of white card that I seated the aperture over.  I cut a slightly larger piece of white card and added the aperture to that leaving room below for my Peace sentiment.  I cut it in both black and white and used the black one for an offset shadow behind the white one.  Next I inked some white card with Forest moss and crushed olive and cut several of the Holly Spray out of it.  I tucked it around the left side of the oval as an accent.  I cut two of the Dove Of Peace in white.  I sprayed one with adhesive and coated it with Diamond Sprinkles, then attached just the bodies of the second one to it so that the wings were free to pull forward.  I added the dove to the centre of the oval and finished the card with several white mats, including a paper pierced one.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  Scroll down to see card number two.

Card number two also started with an oval aperture cut in the centre.  Next I embossed the entire piece with the Snowflake Lattice embossing folder.  I raised it with foam to create a recessed aperture opening and added small 3mm white flatback pearls to all the embossed junctions.  I used the Lattice Snowflake die and cut it out of aqua card.  I covered a piece of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet and cut an oval out of it.  I peeled the backing paper off and attached it to the back of the Lattice Snowflake and coated it with Diamond Sprinkles.  I glued it into place in the recessed aperture opening.  I used the two larger ovals from the Peeking snowflake and Lattice Snowflake die sets to create a thin frame.  I added mounting foam to the frame and added it around the aperture.  I cut several of the peace die and layered them up, then sprayed the top with glue and coated it with Diamond Sprinkles as well.  I placed it on a small oval in the centre of the frame.  I finished it up with a white, aqua, white matting and my usual piercing.  I liked the simplicity of the design, but you could easily add some snowflakes or poinsettias if you want to dress it up a bit more.  The finished dimensions are
6 1/2" x  8" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed another double day!!   Have a favourite?  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. No, I can't choose a favourite today. I love the design of these cards, the Dove with the Ivy is so unusual, I think it is wonderful, and the Snowflake one in the gorgeous aqua and white combo, is perfect for the males and "non flowery" ladies but can easily be added to if you prefer. Thank you Sue.
I hope you and all Wilsonettes have a lovely weekend. Hugs to you all. Take care xx

Morning Sue. Doesn't the time seem to be flying by i can't belief it's friday again it seem's to becoming around so quickly but then we get to see two beautiful card's. I can't pick a favourite as they both tick my boxes. Love the clean and simple line's to both card's which is really good for those people who don't like the over the top card's which my sister is a one she just likes them with clean line's but then you could do all sort's to both card's to give them the real wow factor. Just checked to see when you are on the hochanda channel and i will be away on holiday. I am gutted so i have had to set the recorder to tape all your show's. Have a lovely day Sue.
Take care everyone and have a lovely weekend.

Morning dear Sue, hope all is well and you are home safely.
As you know I love flowers and pretty focal elements and can get 'carried ' away (some may wish I would be) lol but I will confess that clean and simple cards can look so fresh and elegant which is why I love them both today but it's all down to the colour you chose and the gorgeous snowflake lattice folder that is sooo delicate which is why the 2nd card just has the edge on it for me. It really is delicate and pretty. The first card we see has that lovely pop of green and then the sweet little dove appears, it's the kind of card that would please anyone and would stand out In the crowd.
I have to pay a visit to my local craft shop this morning as have been asked to do an A4 dusky pink and ivory wedding card for a bride to be that likes plain and simple no bling and likes sophistication. A4 is so nice to do if you can fill it with bling, but it seems so much bigger and more difficult to design if the recipient isn't OTT in nature so I have to admit that after the layering I have NO idea where to go next with a sophisticated clean and simple design !
Have you a tiny piece of brain I can hire for the day Sue please lol.
Hope you have a restful day after your long journey, but knowing you - I doubt it !!
Sending gentle hugs to you Sue, Theresa, Tina, Elizabeth, Alison and Sam.
Have a good day.

Susi - isn't this blog just the best. It really is like being a valued member of an incredibly close family. And wouldn't it be lovely for us all to descend on you in Cyprus. A lovely family holiday x

Maureen - thank you so much for the good advice about Myra. Forewarned is forearmed. I do like to be prepared. Obviously being an incredibly sensible and level headed individual, who takes life incredibly seriously I will have to give it some serious thought as to whether or not I approve of a bunch of women getting together with the sole purpose of behaving in a childish manner.
Ok - after careful consideration, deliberation, reflection and discussion (with myself), I give you my blessing. I suppose I can turn a blind eye to the fact that there are a group of mature women who I consider to be my friends, acting inappropriately as a cheap form of entertainment. Would you mind having a moments silence in my honour next time you participate in your silliness, lol.
Just in case you are interested I think my shoe size would shrink to a 1 at best if I were in your presence x

Lorraine - I had to post twice yesterday as everything I wanted to say would not fit into one post. You are such a copy cat! Isn't it strange how we feel we can share our secrets with all our lovely fellow Wisonettes despite the fact that we have never met them. Listen you - I'm up for a challenge - I haven't got a crash helmet but Jake does have some steel toe capped boots that I am sure he would let me borrow - would they be any good? My liver is in tip top conditioning as I have not had an alcoholic drink since before Jake was born (my choice, no sinister reason)! So whatever the outcome of us being together I could attempt to cope with or should I say muddle through any crisis that came our way. I can assure you I would be completely sober and have a clear head, even if I didn't know what on earth I was supposed to be doing! I would like to point out that I do not sag and that I have been assured that my bosoms are quite magnificent!! Although there has been a certain amount of talc required in intimate places in order to avoid chafing which is a new experience I am not to happy about since increasing my BMI considerably. Upside of this is the lovely smell of Johnsons baby powder in close proximity to myself. The downside is getting the amount of powder I use just right in order to avoid being surrounded by a strange white dust like haze. Lol x

Fluffycat - glad you are on the mend x

Wheely Bad - I so feel for you my friend. The fatigue is just so frustrating. Hang in there x

Lynda - Ally Pally here we come x

Maria - I will await instructions x

Melody - think you may need a lottery win in order to be able to purchase Molly's shopping list. Sending you all lots of love x

I realised last night that it is not a good idea to watch British Bake off when you know that there is a unopened Vienetta in the freezer. I consumed my out of date pop corn with suitable noises and grunts of enjoyment whilst watching Emmerdale. 10 minutes into watching Wednesday's British Bake Off that I'd recorded, I was dribbling as my mouth watered uncontrollably at the sweet delights on the screen. My first slice of Vienetta was a sensible and acceptable portion size. However the second slice was a little larger. I felt satisfied until it came to the Show Stopper. Would you believe it they had to make ice cream so I felt that I had no choice but to throw caution to the wind and polish off the rest of the Vienetta. I did feel guilty for a second or two but thought that as said frozen desert had bought such delight then it was wise just to go with it. I did not lose any sleep over not sharing with the boys. Not my fault they weren't here!

I am beginning to wonder if maybe my weight increase is not completely down to lack of exercise! What do you think?

Anyway, enough idle chit chat for today. Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Helloooo and happy Friday to Sue & the Wonderful Wilsonettes. I think I shall, from here forward, shorten "Wonderful Wilsonettes" to WW. It could also be short for "Wacky Women"! That fits the bill some days as well eh? :)
The 2 cards are quite lovely and there are features of both I like tremendously. If forced to choose a favorite, my inclination is towards the 2nd one - and for a very silly reason...it reminds me of a scrumptious frosted cake and I would like a bite (or 10) this very instant! Perhaps I'm hungry - but still, I think it's always a compliment when something looks delicious enough to eat!
So do they let foreigners vote in whatever these upcoming awards are? If so I would happily cast my vote for this blog as being the best! Yesterday I expressed how much I love the blog for reasons beyond its original intent, but in addition to those I love it because the content is unbeatable. The videos are of such high quality in all regards -audio, camera work, aesthetics and that doesn't even touch on the actual demonstrations! Sue, you have such a professional, yet warm & genuine presence. You teach in a way that is very easy to understand. And then, the content of what you teach is beyond compare! It truly is. You have such an incredible talent and I'm constantly amazed at your seemingly endless creativity. It's not just a creativity with different cards or techniques either-it's also the way you make sure to show us the versatility of our dies. You are one smart cookie! (There I go with another food reference again lol.) AND on top of all that, on days without videos, your written instructions are very clear and easy to follow! None of those things are easy to do, yet you do them all consistently. Wow- well done! So you bet I would vote you into the number one spot! Most beautiful die designs too!
Yes Laine, I would love to be fluent in all things British-so I'll keep asking for definitions. Although something tells me I better find a secondary source for verification- lest I be led down a stray path!!! I am quite gullible - but also quite comfortable (familiarity brings comfort) with laughing at myself - so have a go Laine & Yvonne G! (Lord help me, I hope I don't regret saying that ;-)
Cheeky & upbeat with a little bit of wicked thrown in suits me fine. Although I'm not very good at dishing out the wicked myself. I can try to pull a joke on someone, but no sooner than it is out of my mouth, I follow it up with a "just kidding" or something else to spoil (or at least shorten) the fun.
Sweet, warm and kind also sits well with me (Theresa, Beth, Maria, Molly & the list goes on) so betwixt & between all - the followers of this blog have me covered (btw, I don't think the groups are mutually exclusive - there is a lot of cross over between the humor & the warmth). I can't even begin to remember everything I want to say to everyone!
Maria, clearly my command of the weather is lacking - I just can't seem to get it to do my bidding! What's up with that? Oh well, I'll still send out my wishes for whatever weather people want (it can't hurt right?)
Once again I'm showing my insanity. It's after 3am and I have to get up for work in a few hours!
Hey, b4 I go, where are people getting sneak peaks at Sue's new dies? I usually ask to be taken off email lists - but I might just have to ask to be put on whichever one is doing the sneak peaks!
A quick shout out to my fellow Americans Jan & Jan (& others I'm unaware of).
Madwoman from Colorado (aka Rebecca) and her doggies & moggies are signing off (but we are not wearing our wellies - tee hee). Perhaps after I get some sleep I'll only be 1/4 a sandwhich shy of a picnic (nah, probably not). Nite nite!

Such subtle colours and the holly die cut looks great. The pearls on the snowflake embossing adds a new dimension and I'll be sure to add this when I use this embossing folder, which I do have. My stash of your dies and embossing folder is growing but some of the earlier ones are dropping off my wishlist in favour of new ones. maybe we could have a bit of a respite from new releases so that I can catch up, but I don't expect that will happen will it?

As you say clean and simple but I think they are lovely for that. The first is so delicate and the Holly Spray and the hint of colour is elegant. The second card I can imagine looks lovely when it catches the light. I love the Snowflake Lattice folder and the hint of Aqua. I would hate to have to choose one. Thanks for sharing.

I'm starting to get excited about the new launch, you must be busy all the time, lol and I am looking forward to seeing you demonstrating on Hochanda. Two hour shows look great I hope they work for you, it does look like it will be a very busy weekend.

Best wishes

Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
I love the ivy splaying out from the aperture of the first card Sue with the varigating colours that you have going on in it. The dove just looks like it is hovering in mid air until it sees what it is looking for. A beautifully simplistic card with my ever loving white card making it so clean and bright. Your sec ond card Sue would be the one for me between the colours that you have used so soft and subtle but also the design of it in itself is just so gorgeous. I love the soft aqua and the quilting of the top of the card intersperse with the pearls to just finish it off. The snowflake lattice die is a lovely die and looks just so with the snowflake lattice of the embossing folder. Thank you Sue for two stunners yet again that can keep our minds active and working.
Well although not a bad day it is one of those non descript days that you get now and then. Finished making my friends "acceptance" card for her son and future daughter in laws wedding, so that will be put through her door later on. Got another GC last week from Hobby craft and i have had to take it to bits this morning to allan key back in place the bolts that are in the most awkward of places under the cogs, so they need to be taken out as well. THe hands are now gowping having put it back together the worse screws being the ones under the rubber phlange which are so hard to get to. I wonder how long until i need to take it apart again to put them back in?
From Norah gowping hands i wish you a great day everyone and sending hugs to all my Angels for keeping me afloat this past year, you don't know what it has meant to me, so thank you,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glencohil)

Hi Sue,
Two really lovely cards today and it's very hard to choose a favourite! The first one wins by a short head! Whatever that is - never been racing in my life! I can still run upstairs!
Well, I succumbed - the pierced squares have been pre-ordered! It was all Brenda's fault - but she did order them also!
Yvonne G - I have a question for you. What sort of friend writes on a blog advising others not to believe a word you say? Not only that , same friend sent me an email to tell me she'd done it!!!
I know confession is good for the soul - but not being economical with the truth in the first place is so much better! Someone has to keep Maureen in line - trust me it isn't easy! Oops my halo slipped a bit!!
I think I'd better go!
Have a lovely day everyone! If you are in pain I do pray it gets a bit easier as the day goes by.
Love Myra xxx

Double Days are good! Yes, I have a favorite today. It is the first card with the dove. It is inspiring to see how you have done the dove to create a 3D look with lots of movement in your center design including the bling. Love that bling. I also like how you have placed your holly in and on the apperture. An elegant design anyone would enjoy receiving. Wishing all a wonderful weekend.

Good evening lovely Sue and the fantabulous Wilsonettes!

I really look forward to Fridays with a sense of excited anticipation, two cards instead of one is a total treat. Unfair of you to expect us to choose however, it's a complete impossibility and a Sophie's Choice of sorts! I have just purchased the dove of peace die and really appreciate all the help I can get with designs- I love the idea with the wings, they look great plus I really need to get the holly spray- I have tried the inking technique with your trailing ivy die and it looks superb.
The second offering is equally stunning, the colour is crisp and frosty looking- luckily I have the EF from last year and recently bought the die also so this is one I will definitely be attempting to murder at home:-) I only wish I had a teaspoon of your talent and gift for creating.
It's a sunny day in Stirling, wonders will never cease! I haven't been able to take full advantage of this rare occurance what with a mountain of housework to wade through-had a visit from the Social care Dept so I wanted to fool her into thinking that I might be house proud:-) the irony being that she was coming to see if she could provide me with any services to ease the strain.....she thinks that I should be get some respite care in the form of a holiday, it's just a shame that it can't be arranged in time for Ally Pally cos I would have given a kidney to meet Sue and some of you lovely ladies:-)
Had the untold pleasure of taking Brodie out for a walk earlier only for him to break off his lead! He's a little devil and since we live sandwiched between two busy roads my heart was in my mouth. There I was, in my PJs running around like a lunatic trying to catch him as he teased and taunted me unmercilessly. My nerves were frazzled and I had to return home in defeat because he thought that it was all a game. He's normally so well behaved, for a cat, but it wasn't until the bin lorry entered our Court that he scurried home equally chuffed and terrified at the same time....little stinker!
Our animals mean the world to us, my cats are my babies so I can totally empathise with you Lynda, and the fear you must have felt with little Annie- I am so glad she pulled through, Shitzus are adorable and if I didn't have two half cat half tigers living with me I would seriously consider getting one
Wheely Bad, so sorry to hear that you have been unable to craft because it can be a godsend when you're incapacitated. I was out of action for the majority of last year with one thing and another and I also had ulcers on both corneas so I could barely see- it was frustrating not to be able to see to cross stitch or craft and I got really depressed. The thing that kept me going though was this wonderful blog, my Mum would put it up on our plasma tv for me to try and focus on so that I didn't feel totally out of touch. I hope that you manage to do some of what you so obviously love soon
Maria, I am getting really jealous with all this talk of coffee groups, Cotswold Crafters Blog and the such like- is there enough room for an uncouth, slightly wild and wacky Northerner in your club....you have extended an invitation to Yvonne and I feel rather left out....please don't think I'm bitter about not getting to Ally Pally but a show of solidarity on your part would go a long way to heal the wounds of disappointment and regret. I too can act like a toddler on demand and unlike Yvonne I have plenty of practise each and every day....just ask my family! My application will be with you forthwith, with references of course.....ask yourself, is Yvonne providing you with any references?

Love and crafty hugs,

Hi again everyone,

So sorry, I really am making a habit of this double posting now-and no Yvonne, I'm not a copy cat but a bona fide trendsetter who, like you are too fond of our own voices to keep the characters below 4000!
I just wanted to point out to you that I too am a fan of Bake Off, it's the closest you get to tv porn before the watershed. Paul with his twinkly blue eyes and Mary with her big floury baps....mmmm, that reminds me of something, I can't quite put my finger on:-)
I'm not so much an incapable as a reluctant chef choosing to visit Mr's M&S instead. However, I am seduced by the sight of petite fours, creme brûlées and cheesy straws as much as the next person. I have great sympathy for your dilemma with your conscience and the temptation of a whole Vienetta- what with all those arctic rolls I'm not surprised you were having a culinary flashback to the seventies! I too would have been sorely tempted but for my lactose intolerance. You should watch Jo Brand on BBC2 in An Extra Slice, you would appreciate the viewers attempts at culinary perfection, it commonly appears to be like road kill.
Well, I've assaulted everyone's senses enough for one day, apologies and I will be sure to keep it within the regulatory amount tomorrow:-)
Have a good night my lovelies!

Love and crafty hugs,

Lorraine you do make me laugh. I love the interaction going on between you and Yvonne and others too numerous to mention. I am fortunate to be friends with Maureen and Myra and many others who comment regularly on here and who are equally barmy.
You and anyone else would be more than welcome to join in on Sandra's blog. Just google cotswoldcrafter and there we are. Hi Sue

Two lovely cards. I like the flash of green holly on the first and the embossing on the second so can't pick a favourite!

This is an attempt at a quick visit... been instructed to bed rest until Monday. Had Daniel here this afternoon and with that & pumping myself full of meds, then the 'sleep' that comes with it I have found this early morning window before the dose I just took properly kicks in to check in, though I have so much to say!

So bear with me, here we go...

Steph, I just know you will find the perfect design. I have a wedding to go to 1/10 and Daniel is going to help me get the card done. The bride is a fan of a type of bear which I luckily have a cd rom for and I'm so glad as I'd never know where to start on a card like you need to make! I'm sure you'll get it just right x

Lynda, I'm sorry that I missed your news about Annie, Billy sends Paw hugs galore and I send her lots of cuddles x

Molly and Melody, sending hugs x

Maria, thank you for thinking of me x

Lorraine, what you went through must've been frightening and frustrating in equal measure. I'm so lucky that save a lazy eye and glasses I have always been able to read and watch so I study my crafty interests so that when I can do something I don't need a lot of practice to be able to get it right (or as right as Im going to get it!). A lot of people (medical people) think me being hyperactive is a curse alongside being born with a degenerative condition but I don't see it that way at all. It allows me to learn and retain things... though don't ask me what I had for tea yesterday! There are things I can do in bed so it's not full 'craft' turkey. At least I know I can get one card done this month for a very dear couple who are so worth the effort.

Yvonne, I do find fatigue the most frustrating but if there is a silver cloud it's that often my body is blown but the brain is willing. If the brain is fatigued too I often just sleep (like the week preceding yesterday). It's more that I miss getting all inky and sitting in a pile of paper with dies all cut out. These blogs and the people on them that help so much, So many entertaining people, so many lovely people and I just like reading stories of normal life. I love looking at the cards and trying to work out how it's done before reading or watching how... a kind of de crafting I suppose! Its like meeting friends and saying "hows your day been?" I love seeing posts from Europe, the US, Australia... its all an escape bubble of crafty comfort- as a result I am a bit of a blog junkie though my favourite are the CE ones- especially this one where I feel so at home among friends.

Rebecca... I'm too honest to lead you astray regarding the use and origins of certain British 'isms'. I must admit to proof reading my posts as some of the odd words we have in Suffolk for things would throw anyone not from Suffolk! It's sad in a way that with greater travel and with communities growing with people from other areas all over the UK we're losing some of our dialects and accents but it's evolution. Dialects are intermingling and sharing terms... plus the language of people born in different decades can be different with influences from TV, music etc. Language fascinates me- I go on a lot of American websites and learning the words and terminology just to do with sewing, crochet, knitting etc that differs from UK terminology... oops, that's the obsessive hyperactive popping up again ("input...more input"!)!

I must apologise for waffling on. Guess it's that I have been unable to write much lately and am making up for it, with a bit extra in case I can't visit again.

Hope that's sub 4000 characters!

Wishing each of you a wonderful weekend. Take care, have fun and sending hugs to Sue, Mom and to you all, plenty extra if they're needed... go one, have another, you know you want to!

Until we meet again,

T x
