So Happy

Good morning all!  I thought I would give you a break from the Christmas cards today (maybe even tomorrow!), but it will be a bit of a mix up from here on in til the end of the year as I have loads of them!  Today's offering is from my previous set of shows and has a lovely technique that I enjoyed demoing at Ally Pally recently as well. I started with a piece of coconut white card covered with a sticky adhesive sheet.  Randomly I sprinkled our polished silk glitter over it using the Rose copper, sea green and hunter green colours.  I burnished it with my finger into the sticky adhesive sheet and that is important to do to get the glitter adhered well and made smooth.  Tap off any excess.  I inked my Swirly Leaf background with a black archival ink pad and stamped my image on to the glittered piece.  This glitter is brilliant as it is so smooth, you can stamp images on it.  I wanted to see what it would look like if I layered it again, so I covered the piece with another sticky sheet and poured clear micro beads over it.  In person, it has a sort of holographic look to it so I have decided to call this my "holographic technique" for future use.  I stamped  a piece of white card with one of the Mix 'n Match sentiments from JustRite designed by Becca Feeken using a black archival ink pad.  Once dry, I embossed the piece with my Heart Lattice embossing folder for texture.  I attached my beaded holographic piece to the upper side.  I cut  a Scalloped Border Two out of black card, using an insert and two cutting ridges.  I cut a white border slightly larger using just the two cutting edges. I glued the black border to it  and embossed the two pieces together.  I added it with mounting foam across my card, hiding the bottom the beaded piece.  I used the dusty rose felt to cut a Spiral flower four and rolled and glued it into place, adding a black pearl to the centre.  I added it to the side of my card atop a messy bow tied out of black seam binding and black jute bow.  I finished the card by adding flatback pearls to all the junctions in the embossed background and a double pierced white mat.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/4" in size.

Hi Sue. WOW !! Such a beautiful card for today. I love it all !! Your heart lattice background looks great. I love the idea of being able to put gems or pearls on the intersections of the design. Your holographic glitter technique looks wonderful, very effective. I must give this a try. The border dies look lovely. My other half has ordered me some of the original borders and insert dies as I wanted to start experimenting with borders and achieving lots of different looks by mixing and matching them. (for my birthday.) Love the sentiments you have used and what a gorgeous felt flower !!
Thankyou so much for working so hard to bring us such fantastic shows and demos over the weekend. It was a shame about the toolshed show but other than that it was very enjoyable. ( apart from leonine who talked so much that I think we all missed out on some extra demos. ) Your cards were superb Sue. As always create and craft don't realise what a hugely popular and extremely talented lady you are. I wish you could just have your own tv show instead !! I cannot wait to see toolshed next weekend. Having exhausted my birthday wish list, the polished silk glitters are now on my christmas wish list !! lots of love Tres x x x

Hi Sue

So late writing a comment tonight as we have had a power most of the day. That's what you get for living in the country.

Your card today is gorgeous. I love everything about it. Lucky I have everything you have used in my workroom,so I think I will make this one tonight as I am waiting to hear from my son to say he is boarding his plane at L A to come home after a tour in America. I can't wait.

Kind regards :-)

I absolutely adore this card!
And I so enjoyed watching you on Create and Craft on my computer from my holiday in Torshavn.
I do hope that I can remember your technics :)
By the way, someone mentioned your DVD....? Have you made one? I didn't know. Is it about card making as we have seen from you on C&C? Where do you sell it?
