CHA, Here I Come!

Hi guys!  If all goes well, this post should be going live just as I am getting ready for CHA in Chicago!  Blogger, don't fail me now!  The show opens this morning and I am eager to see what is new and exciting in the crafting industry.  I so hope to bring back many great finds, keep your fingers crossed for me! Now for today's card, it's another one that I missed posting on the blog from shows in April.  I started with this background paper that I really like as it has a very vintage feel to it.  The flowers are a bit too pink for me though, so I decided to cover the entire sheet with a self adhesive sticky sheet and cut the Angle Approach die out as an aperture. I like the negative from this die as it is very bold and would work well for men's cards too.   Once cut out and removed, I peeled the backing sheet off and poured on the clear micro beads.  Those did the trick for me as they toned down the pink enough that I the colour was workable for me.  I stamped a piece of taupe card from my neutral card pack with one of the Design Element stamps using Antique Linen.  I just wanted a pattern to show through without being too overwhelming.  I stamped my sentiment in black in the background. With two of the Floral oval dies, I cut a frame to mount over my sentiment in the centre of my aperture.  I cut three of the Moroccan borders and offset them on the bottom of my background.  I cut a narrow strip and embossed it with the Elegance embossibility and mounted it with a pink edge above my petticoat borders.  I tied a double bow using the champagne coloured frilly edged ribbon and added a fancy button to the centre of it.  I added two crystal stick pins to it and pierced the edges of my card to complete it.

Hi Sue, pretty in pink. The micro beads bring texture and tones down the vibrant pink, lovely, the borders set off the bottom of the card and the bow finishes it off, a Sue card.

Enjoy CHA and bring back lots of new ideas.

Morning Sue, This card is right up my street, I simply love it. I love the background paper that you have used the micro beads on and the angle approach die using the negative is simply gorgeous. I also love the borders done like a petticoat and the thin strip that you have embossed, finishes off that area beautifully. The bow finishes off the entire card as usual. STUNNING CARD. Have a good day at CHA Sue, you lucky lady, I would love to be there amongst all the new crafty goodies, heaven ha ha !!. Lots of love from Patricia xx

GM Sue - I like this card but think the moroccan borders a bit heavy - your vintage lace border would look more delicate I think - but I dont think they were available back in April. But they are now!!!! Also, this has inspired me to get my microbeads out for the first time today and have a play. Might send you some photos of my efforts if they turn out OK!!

Njoy CHA - are you going to post some fotos of CHA perhaps in the near future?. Would love to see what it's like.

Hello again,
I think I have caught up, at last.
Well you really have had an array of opinions for this card haven't you.
The unfortunate thing about cards like this one, is that any shadow or slight colour change caused by the camera can really affect the viewers opinion. It is a real shame as this card looks lovely close up.
I am blessed to liking a variety of styles and colours, so bright pink flowers are a thumbs up for me. Also I love the way you have stamped the background to echo the background behind the roses on the focal piece. Little techniques like this show a dedicated crafter.
Hope CHA is a winner for you.
Take care Linda xx
