Trifold Fun

Happy Sunday morning to everyone!  I don't often do trifold type cards but I wanted to use the smallest dies in the Cut, Fold, Tuck die templates and I thought this would be a really fun way to showcase them!  I am always asked the question about the small dies in any of the sets, "what do I do with them?"  The Cut, Fold, Tuck dies are strong enough to be focal points on their own as they are interesting and especially when you pare them with double sided papers or micro beads.  For this card I used the Coordinations brand card that is black on one side and red on the other.  I thought it would be more interesting to mix the sizes and shapes and prominent colours a bit.  I cut two of each of them, one with the black card facing upwards and one with the red side up.  I folded and tucked all the pieces.  Next I made my base card by scoring an A4 size of the taupe card from our neutrals pack in three equal sections and cutting the top at a diagonal.  I stamped the front panel with my sentiment in the lower corner.  I used my scoreboard to create a lined embossed background for interest.  Using Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue, I attached all my folded pieces to the top edge of the card to finish it off. Sorry no bow today! LOL  However, with a sentiment change, wouldn't this make a great card for a guy or even a teenager (they are always so difficult, aren't they!).
Here is a pic of it laying flat, you can see the embossed front better in this one too.  I stopped and started the score lines around the sentiment and made a few horizontal score lines on the bottom of the card too.

It's Sunday so it is time for the weekly comment game winners.  This week there weren't any extra qualifying posts so just three names were drawn.  The winners are:

Wendy L!!!
Hollyberry!!!
Laura O!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your postal address and claim your prize!  All for now, Sue x

Another interesting card, I've got the dies and got some black card reversible with grey, so a card for the men is "on the cards" lol Mabex

Hi Sue an actual card what a change for you. Love this concept and as you say could be a good man's card. The lines just finish off this card a bow would have been too much.

An interesting card which as you say would make a great mans card. Can also see this done with the smaller floral dies too in softer colours for a female card. You do inspire me Sue. I also like Joes Grandmas's idea about the Christmas theme.

Hi Sue,
great card, saw this on c and c and thought it was a good idea. A good way to use up bits of card. I haven't got those dies or the card. Maybe one day, or perhaps I'll adapt another die to try it. Have a great crafty day everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Hi Sue, tri fold cards are not my card of choice, I do like to add an insert and find it difficult with tri fold, but the concept is great. Best wishes, Lesley x

Happy Sunday - yes the sun is shinning brilliant.
Definatley a card to discuss, love the colours and the concept those smaller dies can be so pesky. With colour change and different sentiment you can definately have a great christmas card -yes the "c" word.
Also the embossing lines on the bottom of the card really give it a life.
Congratulations to the Sunday winners

Hi Sue
I loved this card when it was on C&C, not made this shape for along time, so must try and make one soon, not bought any of the cut fold dies yet but flower dies would work very well and place them back to back, and poinsetta flowers for a christmas theme.
Happy crafting Tina x x

Hi Sue
What an unusual card. I have never made a trifold card but will certainly try one now. I have some of the cut, fold, tuck dies so will give it a go. I also think it would look good using some of the spiral flowers and bitty blossoms for a "girlie" card.

I like tri-fold cards but have not made one for ages, but will have to make some more having seen yours, I love the use of the smaller dies in this way. One lady above said she was not keen on them because she could not use an insert, I make my inserts on the computer, it takes time getting the sizing right but once you have done one you can save it for future tri-folds.
