Lovely Lattice

Good morning everyone! As this post goes up this morning, I will be on my way to the airport (don't fail me now Blogger!).  I am heading back across the Pond to see my Mom again for awhile as tomorrow would have been my dad's 92nd birthday.  I wanted, no needed, to be there with her for that.  As always, I promise to keep the blog posts coming every morning for you.  Back to lattice today, the border specifically.  I absolutely love this border as there is just so much you can do with it.  For a really quick card, cut four or five of these borders and place them on to your choice of cardstock colour that has an adhesive sheet adhered to it.  You can offset them for all sorts of different patterns to make your card interesting.  The colour of your cardstock will show through the adhesive sheet and whatever is not covered by the borders, just add the clear micro beads over and press them firmly down to stick them well.  A really pretty quick background!  If you weren't able to get the micro beads before they sold out, Sam Poole has some available in her online shop, just to let you know.  I used my lattice border to cut some felt and make flowers too.  You want to use 100% wool felt for the best results.  You can cut other types of felt, but the wool felt will cut like butter.  Other felt types may need to be run through several times to cut completely.  I added redline tape to the very bottom of the border and rolled them like I do with ribbon to create the flowers.  You will need two borders to make a nice big flower, one for bud size.  I made three flowers of varying sizes and colours for the corner.  I added a bow of cream seam binding and a few of the green suede leaves to create a nice floral element.  I stamped a sentiment in black archival and cut it out using one of the Persian accent die templates.  Using a bit of Tattered Rose distress ink to give it an accent, I created a tag for my card which was added using a small piece of Bakers Twine.  The edge of the card was created with the border also, but I only used the very top edge so it was just peeking out to give the card a soft feminine look.  I hope you like the overall look.  All for now, Sue x
