To A Dear Friend

Hello there my crafty friends!  I have a very simple Stampcuts card to share today.  I started by embossing the white background using the Art Deco 3D embossing folder.  Next I used the Cut Corner Rectangles to cut a wide frame using Lilac card.  I added it to the card with mounting foam.  Next I inked and die cut the Daisy Blooms Stampcuts die.  I used Distress Markers to colour it (Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, Forest Green, Spun Sugar and Crushed Olive).  I added some glued to the centre of the daisy and used clear micro beads to give it a dimensional centre.  I added the floral spray to the lower corner of the frame.  I cut the To A Dear Friend sentiment out of both aqua and wisteria card and used the aqua as a shadow behind, then glued it to the inside of the frame.  The card was completed with white and wisteria mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are     6 3/4"  x  8" in size.  All for now. Twinkle Twinkle

Hi Crafters!  Here's a shaker card using the Slimline Stars Background die set.  I used a background I made earlier that used Pixie Powders.  I used Midnight Blue Pixies all over the card and spritzed it.  Once dry, I cut and mounted the Slimline Stars Background on top of it.  I used the Slimline Stitched Rectangle Frames and made a white frame.  I glued a piece of clear acetate across the back then added mounting foam all the way around the edge.  I added some medium sized clear Micro Beads in the frame, then added the Stars Background to it in order to create the area for the shaker bits.  I used some of the leftover pixied card and cut several stars and the sentiment from the Twinkle Twinkle Cloud and Stars die set.  I added the stars and the sentiment to the top of the acetate.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 4 3/4"  x  9" in size.  All for now. Every Day Is A New Adventure

Hi bloggers!  Today's safari themed card uses one of my all time favourite techniques; faux leather.  I started with a piece of milk card and tore small pieces of masking tape and laid them done on the card.  Each torn piece slightly overlaps until you fill in the entire card.  Next I rubbed the Vintage Photo Distress ink pad all over the torn tape background and coated it with clear embossing powder.  I heat embossed the powder and it gives a shiny coating, but it also keeps the ink from coming off on your hands as it does not want to dry very easily on top of the tape.  The results are a very leathery looking background, which was just perfect for my Rhino die.  I stamped the Rhino stamp, then die cut it.  Using Distress markers, I coloured the rhino (Weathered Wood, Antique Linen and Rusty Hinge)  I used mounting foam to raise it on the background.  I stamped my sentiment and added the matching frame from the clear stamp set called Wild About You, then cut it out with the matching die from the Safari Tags die set.  I added it with mounting foam below the rhino.  The card was completed with milk and rust card mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4"  x  9"  in size.    All for now,  Sue x

Thanks

Hi bloggers!  It's another Pixie Sparkle card!  I started with a piece of white card and sprinkled Coral Crush and Fuchsia Rose Pixie Sparkles all over it.  I spritzed it with water and used a flat paintbrush to fill in any white areas.  After it dried, I embossed it with the Moroccan Tile Embossing folder for texture.  I cut it into three strips and added mounting foam to the back of each of them.  I added the strips on to a piece of white card, leaving a small gap between each of the strips.  I cut one of the Decorative Flag dies and added mounting foam to it, then attached it across the card.  I cut several of the Pom Pom Flowers in white to create four flowers.  I added them to the side of the decorative flag.  Using the Magnolia Corner, I nipped it apart and added the leaves to the flowers as accents.  I cut the Noble Thanks sentiment out of a leftover piece of the Pixie Sparkle card, then added a black shadow and glued it to the decorative flag.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7"  x   8"  in size.    All for now,  Sue x

Sending Love & Hugs

Hello crafters!  I thought I would share a card I made with the Floating Hearts stencil today!  I started by taping the stencil to a piece of white card.  I used Clear Texture paste through the stencil, then tapped Coral Crush Pixie Sparkles all over it.  I carefully removed the stencil, then set it aside to dry thoroughly.  Next I cut a larger piece of card and used the Coral Crush Pixie Sparkles all over it, spritzed it to activate the powder and set it aside to dry.  I cut a frame using the Slimline Stitched Rectangle Frames, added acetate to the back then attached mounting foam to raise it.  Once the stencilled background was dry, I attached the frame to the centre of it.  I added a thin black mat and attched the background to the larger piece of Pixie Sparkled card.  I cut the Sending Love & Hugs sentiment in black and glued it across the frame with the acetate to hold it in place.  The card was completed with white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 5 3/4"  x  10 1/4"  in size.

Today is March 8th and it would have been my Dad's 101st birthday.  As my usual tradition, I am sharing the reprint of Life's Lessons, something he sent to me that I have kept for many years and sharing it again with you.  I always find something different inspires me every year and it should be interesting to hear what strikes a chord with everyone after this past year.  Enjoy!

Here goes:

: 1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good. 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. 3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. 4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch. 5. Pay off your credit cards every month. 6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. 7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone. 8. It's OK to get angry   9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck. 10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile. 11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present. 12. It's OK to let your children see you cry. 13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. 14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it. 15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks. 16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind. 17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful. 18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger. 19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else. 20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer. 21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special. 22. Over prepare, then go with the flow. 23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple. 24. The most important sex organ is the brain. 25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you. 26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?' 27. Always choose life. 28. Forgive everyone everything. 29. What other people think of you is none of your business. 30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time. 31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. 32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 33. Believe in miracles. 34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do. 35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now. 36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young. 37. Your children get only one childhood. 38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved. 39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere. 40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back. 41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. 42. The best is yet to come.. 43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. 44. Yield. 45. Have A Magical Day

Good Sunday morning all!  It's stencil and Stampcut sample day today!  I started by taping the Floral Swirl Slimline stencil to a piece of white card.  I used the Custard Matt Chalk Polish through the stencil to create a pretty background.  Next I inked up the Poppy Spray Stampcut die with Black Archival ink then ran it through the die cutting machine and then repeated the process so I had two of them.  I used Distress markers to colour them (Barn Door, Mustard Seed, Crushed Olive, Forest Moss and Antique Linen).  I cut up the second Poppy Spray so I was able to use the extra poppy on top mounted with foam above the first one and some of the smaller flower and buds coming from under neath it to give more fullness to the bottom of the card.  I added a touch of glue to the centre of the poppy and sprinkled Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz on it.  I used the Have A Magical Day sentiment cut in both white and black (as a shadow) and glued it into the top of the card.  I completed the card with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 5 1/4"  x  9 1/2"  in size.  All for now. Sue x
