You're A Star

Hello crafters!  How about a sports themed card for today's card offering!  I love the fact that I have been able to pull out so many of my older dies to make cards with the slimline collection!  I started this card by cutting the Slimline Decorative Squared Stripes die out of both Ruby Red and Cobalt Blue card.  I offset them so you could see all the stripes and it filled in the background except for the tiny squares.  I added a white backing card behind it.  I used the Slimline Essential Frames dies to add a plain white frame around the background.  Using the You're A Star die set I cut the tennis racket, American football or rugby ball, British football or soccer ball and golf club as well as the #1 and the You're a Star sentiment.  I used a silver paint pen on the tennis racquet and golf club and a black sharpie on both of the grips.  I glued all the pieces to the card in between the sentiment which I used three times.  The card was completed with white, ruby red and cobalt blue mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 5"  x 9 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hope Your Birthday Is Unforgettable!

 Hello there my crafty friends!  I wanted to share a technique that I did here, but it has been ages since the last time I did it!  I started with a piece of black card for my background.  The technique is called Faux Suede and all you need to do for this is to break down the fibers in the card first.  This can be done by running the card through a crimper several times or folding it randomly then using your thumbnail to continue to break down the fibers by rubbing the card.  Once the fibers have been broken down sufficiently, you will be able to split the card in half by peeling a layer away.  If you look at the close ups of the background, it has the texture of a piece of suede leather.  Once I separated the layers, I tore around the edge to give it an even more distressed look .  I cut Sam Poole's Cheesecloth die out of Ranger glassine paper and glued it to the background.  I used her Rustic Honeycomb die cut from white card and glued it to the card.  Next I stamped and cut out the Elephant die and used Distress markers to colour it.  I added the elephant with mounting foam to the centre of the card.  I stamped the sentiment from the clear Safari Tags stamp set and cut it out with the Safari Tags die set.  I added it to the background with mounting foam.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2"  x  9"  in size.  All for now, Sue x

Strength Circle

Hi bloggers!  Today's card features another one of the new Matt Chalk Polish colours.  This time I have used the Purple Dusk, it is part of the new vintage colour collection just released.  I coated a piece of card with it and allowed it to dry.  Next I embossed it with the Moroccan Tile 3D embossing folder.  Using the Double Stitched Squares, I made a wide frame cut from white card.  I added it with mounting foam over the embossed background.  I cut two of the Star Flower Cluster in white.  I used a bit of leftover polished card and cut the flowers out of it to match both of the corner sprays.  I glued them behind the die and added black centres and pearls.  I mounted the floral sprays in opposite corners.  I cut the Strength Circle in white and black card.  I used the black as an offset shadow behind, then glued it to the centre of the card.  The card was completed with white mats and I used the Purple Dusk Matt Chalk Polish around the edge of another mat as well.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4"  x  7 3/4"  in size.  All for now. Wild About You

 Hello there my crafty friends!  This is another one of my favourite cards from the safari collection release.  I started with a piece of Arctic Blue card and embossed it with the new Pebble Rush 3D embossing folder.  Next I cut two apertures in a piece of white card using the Double Stitched Circles.  I cut two circular frames to go around the apertures.  I trimmed them even with the sides of the card, then added mounting foam to them and raised them over the apertures.  I stamped the sentiments from the Safari Tag clear stamp set then added mounting foam to the back and added it to the embossed backing piece.  Next I stamped the Zebra and the Rhino and cut them both out with the matching dies.  I trimmed away the animals from the outer frames and coloured them with Distress Markers.  I added mounting foam to the backs of the animals, then slipped them into the apertures. The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2"  x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now. Sue x

To A Dear Friend

 Hello crafters!  I have a simple, but lovely Stampcut card to share today.  I started with a piece of Arctic Blue card for my background.  I use the Slimline Decorative Squared Rectangles and cut one larger frame and two smaller frames out of white card.  I glued them onto the blue card, slightly overlapping the edges.  I inked the Hydrangea Stampcut die with a Black Archival ink pad and die cut it.  I used Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass Distress markers to colour the flower and Forest Moss and Crushed Olive to colour the leaves.  I added some Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz to the flowers after colouring them.  The flower was added with mounting foam to the lower corner of the card.   I cut and added a few extra leaves as accents and added them too.  I used the To A Dear Friend sentiment cut out of Iris and black card.  I shadow the sentiment with the black die and glued it to the upper part of the card.  The card was completed with white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2"  x  8 1/4"  in size.  All for now. Hi bloggers!  I thought I would share a card that I made with one of our new embossing folder designs!  I started by embossing a piece of white card with the new Swirling Frame embossing folder.  Next I cut the Priscella die out of white and black, using the black die cut as an offset  shadow.  I backed the die with Blue Dusk card.  I used the Double Pierced Rectangles and cut a thin frame in white and added a white backing to it.  I layered it up in the centre of the Priscella die cut.  I cut the Noble Thanks sentiment out of Blue Dusk and black card, shadowed it and glued it into the frame.  I cut two Cosmos Flowers, using a white base and a blue dusk outline and added them in opposite corners with white leaves.  The card was completed with white, black and blue dusk mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2"  x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now.
