Wonderful Day

Hi bloggers!  Again with my inner grunge! This time I think it could actually be used as a Christmas card with a simple change of sentiment.  I started with milk card and used the Toscana Stamp to die for and inked it with a Clear Perfect Medium pad and stamped it randomly all over the background.  I used a Snow Cap white pigment ink pad and rubbed it around the background and then inked the edges with an Antique linen ink pad.  Finally, I cut the background into five thin strips and distressed all the edges with my scissors.  I mounted them onto another piece of milk card, which I also distressed.  I glued a piece of cheesecloth across the centre diagonally and added three small black dazzlers in the upper corner.  Using the Perfect Peony die, I cut several sizes in red card.  I spritzed them with water and scrunched them up. I opened them back up and allowed them to dry and created two distressed flowers, using the Dandelion clocks for the centres with pearls.  I mounted them on the side of the card then added accents cut from the Dandelion Clocks and the Maidenhair fern.  I used decorative script paper for the fern cuts.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Noble design centre and matted it in black.  The card was completed with a pierced milk mat, a thin red and black mat and another milk mat.  All mats had been distressed slightly as well.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.

Hi Sue, grunge isn’t the sort of card that I would make myself but for those who love this style it would be the perfect card & it is lovely that you diversify, as always, your amazing designs to suit all tastes but I have fallen in love with the flowers though & would certainly give them a go once my mojo comes back. Thank you Sue for all your hard work & inspiration x x x

Okay my friends, I can imagine that you are so surprised on my return that many of you, hypothetically fell off your chair, well if you have picked yourself up then I shall get back to the nitty gritty of my absence, just after my birthday I lost 2 of my teeth; yes you read it right, 2 of my front teeth. It all started with a drunk (not my Mr B he has been my rock), who had decided that my mouth/face was the perfect target to vent his anger out on when I couldn’t give him what he was asking for. As a result my front 2 teeth that were bridged (tooth was barbed) & fixed together were knocked loose, painfuuul. Couldn’t get in to emergency dentist until the day after on the Sunday & even Steve said he was brutal with the extraction. Many years ago a dentist had ended up putting me into hospital because of his neglect & incompetence & it had taken my present dentist years to get my confidence to the point of keeping my appointments with him. Well the emergency dentist has set me back because I was in tears & shaking with an inner earthquake & I even had to literally beg for tissues, my dentist was not pleased with how I was treated. This guy didn’t even x-ray after the extractions to check all had been removed & there was a lot more blood, sprayed everywhere, than there should have been.

Well tomorrow 8th I have to have surgery done at the dentist to remove a lot of tooth debris still in the gum, my dentist has to cut through & stitch back up & I’m absolutely petrified as it is looming upon me pretty fast. He’s had to wait a while because it hadn’t healed, even now I have red raw gums, consistent bleeding & it is very painful to eat & to say the least I miss my hot, instead of cold, fruit teas, especially in this weather. If I had my way it would stay in there so I wouldn’t have to go through the injections & procedure but apparently I’m at high risk of infection if it’s left so I really have no choice. Still at least I get to ask Santa for 2 front teeth.

I had virtually become a hermit, only venturing out when absolutely necessary as it brought back the feelings of when I was knifed & robbed in broad daylight in town where I used to live on 5th Sept 2001 I still bear the physical scars down my arm. Work would not let me come back for a while, been back 2 weeks, so I used my time to cook Mr B’s & dad-in-laws meals for the freezer & to go through all my craft papers, stamps etc & what I didn’t think I would use or couldn’t cut out I donated to my school for the children & there was a lot.

Well that’s the end of that saga, there is more to it but I’m not ready to say too much but I sincerely appreciate your listening though zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Lol only kidding of course x I’m sorry my friends I haven’t been reading the blog & I haven’t been able to find the words to comment for 6 weeks, feels like 6 years, but I did reach a point where I felt like commenting but then I noticed that Sue had just begun her new launch, well I didn’t think it would be fair to comment to win a die as I had been absent, so decided to refrain...congratulations to all the winners of the dies giveaway & the card & comments prizes sincerely hope that you enjoy.

I would like to say hi to my special friends but also to all lovely Wilsonettes, & to those who are really in need of a hug or two I send heartfelt love & hugs to you. Take care Sue & to all our friends. Thinking of you always Love & best from Beth B x x x x x

Hi sue.
I'm loving ur inner grunge it's right up my street. I get all excited when u do these ones. Stunning!!!

Well ladies I'm getting ready for today's hospital visit as got bloods done yesterday.
Won't know till I get there if all is well with them.
Had to ask nurse to use the smallest needle as my veins seem to dislike the bigger ones and don't give out the blood otherwise it's quite funny but annoying lol.

Carole. Enjoy ur birthday if u can. It'll be difficult I know but it'll get easier.

Txt cowgirl Yeah I've seen the books but I've yet to find one with pictures I like in them. As I thought I want one with loads of nice pictures as they are expensive.

Wheely. Hope ur brothers alright. I'm sure he will be tho. It's been bad here in Ayrshire but mainly just wind and rain with a bit of flooding. No loss of power thank goodness.

Lynda. Thanks for all ur lovely thoughts xx

Love to all and hugs too if required

Absolutely stunning card.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Oh my golly gosh, what a beautifully distressed card, I'm not alone in appreciating it when you release your inner grunge Sue, you manage to do it in such an elegant fashion and with such style. I have always admired Tim Holtz, from afar, but I have never been very good at the art of paper tearing, scrunching, inking and generally distressing...I'm usually the only one getting distressed when I try to do it !....I would love to feel confident enough to do it and whilst I know that it is unlike your usual clean, crisp and sophisticated style, I would love it if you did some video demos of techniques so that I could try it out for myself without getting into a tizzy:-) I adore the flower element and the cheesecloth embellishment, it's very eye catching. I would love to have a similar card framed on my craftroom wall, it's like a piece of art, begging to be displayed.
Apologies for not having been around for a couple of days, I've been under the weather and don't like to bother anyone whilst I'm a misery guts:-) My appointment at the hospital went well, there's no visible signs of scarring on the surface of the heart following my heart attack, it looks in fine fettle which is a relief, and the excess fluid that was surrounding it has gone:-)
I think I may have cracked a rib again though, I was stupidly over reaching for a piece of paper on the floor over the wooden arm of my chair and felt a sharp pain, it's been getting increasingly painful to breath and move since. I know it sounds rather extreme but I have chronic osteoporosis and I have done it before when I reached for something on the ground from my wheelchair and thinking it was bruised did nothing about it until I had an X-ray for blood clots and they told me I had fractured a rib- they won't X-ray because there is no treatment for it so there's no way of confirming it other than to say that it feels the same....no heavy lifting of my Platinum machine for a little while methinks:-)
Feeling trapped by the atrocious weather, there's flooding around Stirling and the wind and rain has been horrendous so rather than go shopping today we decided to put up the decorations- dusted, polished, hoovered etc only for everything to be covered in bits of tinsel, glitter, sticky tape and fairy lights....lovely! Have to be careful what setting the fibre optic Christmas tree is on though, it can induce a seizure:-)
Feeling super excited about Sues shows this week, not long to go now....it's actually better than Christmas! I don't know if I can persuade my Mum to let me treat myself, money is a bit tight for Non Christmassy related purchases at the moment but maybe if I'm extra good until Friday I might stand a chance of an extra stocking filler, fingers crossedxxx
I'm going to be naughty and split my comment just in case, so sorry Sue......

I for one would love this card if it would be sent to me.

Round two
I just wanted to make sure I had enough characters to respond to a few previous comments,
Beth, I am so pleased and relieved to hear from you, I had feared that there was something major occurring that would drag you away from your beloved blog and sadly I was right. My heart goes out to you, you have really been through the wars recently and I'm not in the least bit surprised that you have felt unable to comment. I have been fortunate enough to have had brilliant dentists and only positive experiences so I can only imagine what you are going through, I wish you all the best for tomorrow's procedure, thankfully you are in capable hands so hopefully that will be of some comfort to you. I hope that you will feel in a more positive place and able to join us again because you are greatly missed- how are your doggie divas and Mr B? I hope they are wellxxxx
Tracy, hope that your bloods were okay and the picc line went ahead. Great that you've met someone going through the same experiences as you, I hope it helps both of youxxx
Huge bear hugs to Yvonne, Rebecca, Jan, Maria, Saba, Theresa, Melody, Molly and anyone in need of a cuddlexxx

Hi Sue

Perhaps I should call this card "Wonderful Yesterday" given the time of the comment. Oh well, it's still Monday somewhere in the world! I do love your grungy cards and yes, I thought at first glance it was a Christmas card, might well adopt and adapt for the still unmade Christmas cards as it's stunning- including a last minute order for the star spray. I just love stars anyway and they're not just for Christmas (therefore a justified purchase lol).

Beth, my reaction on reading your post began with 'F', you poor thing, not only do you suffer once from the initial barbaric act you suffer twice from an a-hole who has never heard the term 'dental CARE'. I know you're scared having the damage put right but as you say, it needs doing. I will be with you in spirit, holding your hand. Lots of hugs xxx

Carole, I hope you enjoyed your birthday. Have been thinking of you, lots of hugs xxx

Bejay, you poor thing. No voice for so long must have caused a lot of problems. Have you considered either a multiclicker (which can be adjusted for the volume of click), a small container with dried rice to shake or another soft sound like a click of the fingers or slapping your leg gently that may help to get doggies attention? Do it so pup gets a reward for responding. Dogs do respond well to gesture (like a doggy sign language), clickers are usually used to mark the point at which the dog does the desired behaviour but they can be used to get attention in the first place. I hope whatever you do you find a way to communicate with your furry friend. Billy sends you both wags and woofs, lots of hugs from me and I hope your better soon xxx

Helen, I hope you're on the mend now, missed you, lots of hugs xxx

Laine, lots of hugs to you too. I hope you're not too uncomfortable xxx

Theresa W, flu is a b*gger to shift at the best of times. Stay warm, rest up, take care and lots of hugs too xxx

Lancs Steph, hope you're ok xxx

Tracy, hope all has gone well. Have a look at the craft books on The Works website as they got every colouring book there is at a decent price. Also have a look at some of the craft mag websites as they've had free colouring pages from some of the books to try out. Thank you for showing concern for my brother, it means a lot to me that you think of him when you're not feeling well, lots of hugs xxx.

I found out late last night brother is ok. He had to leave the digs as no power, heat or toilet. He's staying with a friend. He rang mum and she posted on his Facebook page. No news on his friend yet. I left a message for her just so she knows we're thinking of her. The boy is 15 years younger than me and I did a lot of what constitutes parenting over the years to both boys so we are all very close. He knew mum and I would be worried bless him but I'm just glad he's ok.
It's still heartbreaking seeing how so many people have been affected though. Extra special hugs to all in the north and north west of the UK xxx

I got nothing done today bar have a shower after tea and order Billy some worming tablets. Thanks migraine! At least the cleaner was in and out before I suffered too much. Pretty gutted as I had actually had a wipe wash and got dressed this morning! C'est la vie, LMAO. Better luck tomorrow ay?

Well won't be if I dont try and go back to sleep! Sending hugs, smiles and a countdown to 8pm Friday to everyone. Plenty extra hugs gere if you need them, for any reason.

Sorry it was a long post,

T x

Hi Sue,

Ooh I really love this card, you pull the grunge look off really well. I don't think I'd be able to do the grunge look, I think it would look more of a mess. I thought it was a Christmas card at first, I think it would make a fabulous Christmas card.

Beth B what a terrible time you've had sending big hugs, hope your fixed up quickly and painlessly x

Tracy I hope all went well at the hospital x

Laine I'm sorry you've not been so good, I hope your feeling better real soon gentle hugs x

Carole hope you managed to have a nice birthday x

Wheely I'm so glad your brother is ok, but sorry he list his digs. I hope his friend is ok x

Hugs to Melody, Molly and Francis

The red flowers add an incredible pop of color to the neutral background of this card. It is a stunning look that i really love. The added texture from the cheese cloth and the distressing creates a card that is beautifully done. I love this card!
